  • Isn't it great when the postman drops of a bunch of cool new music to add to your CD collection? From the Beastie Boys, Wu Tang Clan and Nas to David Bowie and Deep Purple, this was a tremendous treat to come back to on Halloween!

I like your crusade to restore the collection you had growing up. I had a nice collection too, but I moved around a lot for work and just disposed of CDs along the way, until I had nothing left. I just realised that subconsciously I have been restoring my old library now that I have settled down.

Matt, when considering the greatest albums of all time, I think no cd collection is complete without Disintegration by The Cure and Joshua Tree by U2. Those two are also epic...

This is like every one of my post pay day Royal Mail deliveries, I can't quite remember what ebay will be winging to my door.

Yeah I always forget what I've ordered so it's like Christmas day when the post arrives. Nothing beats it!

Matt thanks for sharing your latest finds. as you may know for classic rock the Steve Wilson remixes of classic albums sound excellent on CD. Aqualung by Jethro Tull. the Yes Album, Fragile and Close to the Edge by Yes. The 50th anniversary edition of A Space In Time by Ten Years After is a must. Believe you have Pink Floyd CDs. Do you have the 2018 remix of Animals? Sounds much better than the original CD. How about Jeff Beck with The Jan Hammer Group Live from 1977? One of my favorite live CDs. Happy CD hunting!

Matt I can highly recommend dreamtime by Robert plants as one of the best sounding cds . It's a covers album but planty puts his own spin on some unique songs it's fantastic it's full of atmosphere , great channel by the way .

Give Aussie six piece (formally seven) rockers "King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard" a spin. Contemporary psych rockers that are super prolific with their releases and musical style. Not all their stuff is available on CD but most of it is on vinyl.
A good Intro to King Gizz would be their 2016 LP " Nonagon Infinity" (available on CD).

I’ve been hitting Discogs hard…. Averaging about $1-$3 per CD including shipping… such a great deal
I just ordered 40 (shhhhhh) and when I priced it out IF I found decent vinyl copies…. Close to $880-$1000….. vs $100
    Really no comparison
Been on the hunt for ANYTHING done by Telarc…. Treat yourself if you like classical
For a great CD - have a listen to Words by The Tony Rich Project…. Whole album is great on CD
Great channel and I love the passion !

Thanks for the kind words Matty! Yeah I agree, there are so many absolute bargains to be had on CD compared to vinyl. There's no way I could justify this collection if it was costing me £20-£40+ per album. It's truly the only way to affordably collect physical music I think.
Don't know Telarc so will check them out. Someone was telling me about that Tony Rich Project album the other day too, must give that a spin as well. Cheers for the recommendations!

Hi Matt. I can recommend Private Eyes by Tommy Bolin, a classic well produced album from 1976

I’m open to a logical explanation as to why I would want to listen to a cd when my streamer gives me better resolution and convenience not to mention the cost and storage. Can anyone make that case?

To be honest John, no. There is no logical reason to take on the expense and inconvenience of a physical music collection in 2023. This is a hobby that those who choose to partake in do it for the love of owning a music collection and thumbing through the artwork and looking at it on shelves. It's not the most practical way to consume music, but those of us who are into it enjoy it plenty!
