Everton under Kendall where the best for a couple of years from around 84-86 then Liverpool took over again for a while with Barnes and Beardsley etc.I use to love watching the merseyside teams during that era.
Look at the Kop that day it was way too packed . Usually when you came up against a bar you'd be able to move after a few seconds . This game was different though as apparantly there was loads of blag tickets .
The two turning points for me after the defeat to Everton were Neville southall getting injured and kenny then started to play , it certainly galvanised us 😀😀
this was the commentary match on the old "sport on 2" radio2 on sat afty i think. seemed like the title race was over after this with everton going 8pts ahead of lpool ..but oh no..
Interesting that Liverpool went on to win the League and the Cup - making Everton double runners up that season. Pity for the Blues - but they redeemed the following season
Two teams of excellent footballers. Football was better then. It was harder. Pitches were temperamental. Players were more sporting. Even though it meant everything to both sets of supporters.
And they still won eff all and we walked on with the league and Cup double. Cheers Everton ... still providing plenty of laughs in 2022 since 1995 #agentrafa.
Everton were different class between 84/85 - 86/87. I`ve always maintained that the best team wins the league but I think Everton not winning the league this year was a footballing travesty. Credit to Liverpool for hanging in and grinding them down but I thought Everton played far better football. It was a bit similar to when Man Utd done my team in 02/03. Still struggle to believe how we never won it that season.
I’ve stood in the kop. Someone shouted “Get out the way lad” as he pissed down a rolled up echo all down my jeans. Other than that. It was never too bad.
knuddle1968 for the Wimbledon game I thought he and the rest of the Liverpool side shat themselves. And as for the other mistakes you wouldn’t know really know, would you, because he seemed to struggle with easy saves but make top class saves on shots you thought were never going to be stopped.
This should have been the league done and dusted,if Southall would not of been injured I believe We would of won the double instead of those spawney twats.
Liverpool in the late 80's played some of the best football you will ever see anywhere. With Barnes & Beardsley joining the club Liverpool played a brand of football the English game had never seen before. Quick 1 touch 2 touch football that Barca would be proud of. That Liverpool team was well ahead of their time & a true pleasure to watch.
Blatant penalty on Richardson
First everton then Liverpool like a seasaw up down ahaaaa everton still the best Everton side of the last 💙💙💙 century from 84 till 87
Rush always had a chance against Everton's high line even when Everton were dominant in the game.
The bold Nev, what a keeper.
We were so ragged in this game. I remember the feeling that we blew the title that day. How wrong we were though.

Eddie Marr true true
well we soon got broken up because of injuries
Grobelaar corrupt an we battered them anyway battered them in that shithole we gave them
Heysel ban ruined things for Everton.
And 87
One of the reasons why 80s was the best decade ever. Music was great, movies and tv series were unparalleled and there was Everton!
Crazy to think there wasn't that much gulf in class back in that era and many. And to not win at Anfield this Century is staggering.

Bracewell doing his ankle on New Year's Day affected Everton significantly. He wasn't the same player from then on.
Everton were all over Liverpool that day
Crap since
I was in the middle of the kop singing 'you're a clown' at grobbelar along with thousands of other evertonians. You can hear it at 9 mins
That was the day I thought Liverpool had lost the league😡.To win it in 1986 was one of the best division one titles for me
Still the best Everton side of the last century 1984 to 1987 Kendall best Everton manager of all time
And a great midfielder as well.
Just repeated this !! Up the toffees !
Up the toffes my arse , ye bottled the double that season to the mighty reds
Proper football....
Everton were better than Liverpool that season in my opinion. Grobelaar taking a bung here though probably.
Teşekkürler.Gary Lineker ve Ian Rash'ı tekrar seyretmek güzeldi.
this was the commentary match on the old "sport on 2" radio2 on sat afty i think.

Everton should have competed in the European Cup that season...but oh no 🤔
Rest is Football brought me here
Incredibly exciting football.
I was there that day although I was chuffed we won we ended up winning nothing. Looking back today the pace of that game in particular was hectic.

Boss top drawer would have been European cup champs that year ✌️💙
Martin Tyler’s usual biased commentary ,no mention of Lawrenson fouling Richardson as the ball rolled towards and empty net !
Will miss football at goodi
park hopefully a new start let's hope the 2023
How Liverpool won so many cups with that clown in goal I'll never know
You Are So Right !
Liverpool's only home defeat of the season, compared with five home defeats in 1984-5!
And they still won eff all and we walked on with the league and Cup double. Cheers Everton ... still providing plenty of laughs in 2022 since 1995 #agentrafa.
And now you lost the league at Goodison Park.
We've handed you the torch for the laughs now 🤘🏻
Bruce grobellaar loves match fix
If Ever on had Seville South all for the cup final, they'd have won the cup that year!

Funnily enough we beat them in the cup final that year as well.
@@calmster Yeah, having been second best to them for much of the game. "Its a funny old game" aint it?
Unless you were/are an Evertonian, that is.
@@accountformelyknownasarsen3072 Once Rush equalised it was never in doubt.
@@calmster Momentum in football is everything and by that stage, you had it.
Everton flag in the kop ?!?! ... No way !😮
bobstermaher Back then that was the norm
That;s when Analfield used to allow Scousers in the Kop
I’ve stood in the kop.
Someone shouted “Get out the way lad” as he pissed down a rolled up echo all down my jeans.
Other than that.
It was never too bad.
Gedisoock Pmsl Classic that dude
Thought all that stand together stuff was bollocks?
And we had the best keeper in the world. Coyb
Grobelaar looked ify.
didn't realize how dodgy Grobellar was. Money talks..
Jane Ginger well that game he wasn’t all there to be honest, he usually wasn’t too bad.
knuddle1968 yeah you’re right.

Today’s snow flake players should have to watch this! Footy at its best.
Very Dodgy goalkeeping!!!!!!
Grabbelaar had injured his shoulder against York in the Fa Cup in the previous game midweek.
Shocking standard of football , the 80's really were dross
Not a chance better than now ! No var ..proper tackling
