My 120s-11iap laptop came with a Celeron n3350 processor (2 cores) and 32GB emmc and 2GB RAM. I bought a motherboard on aliexpress: N4200 processor (4 cores) and M.2 SSD slot. and 4GB RAM. Disassembled and replaced the motherboard.

I have this exact laptop. It won't charge anymore but will power on with the charger plugged in (still won't charge).
I've checked the drivers, disconnected and reconnected the battery, and still no good.
Do you think it could just be a bad battery after a few years?
typically i find a battery wont stop it from charging and is another issue

I bought my 130s about a year ago and it's been sitting dead for the last few months. Today I tried to start it back up after charging but it's not powering on. Upon first press, the power button illuminates white really quick and turns back off. Once I hold it the second time, it will stay on white but no image appears on the screen... any ideas? Thank you!
not too sure on that one sorry but sounds like a failed mainboard (a broad diagnoses of it)

Seems like the model with 32GB, dont have M2 or SATA conection. So not possible.
Technically, you could, but only by swapping the motherboard to one with the 64GB eMMC or a m.2 connector. Not worth it, the cost for such motherboard is all too high. I'd rather try finding another second hand specimen with a better disk. In my country it'd be like 40€ plus postage. That way you'll have two of them laptops and you could sell your original one - again for 40€ or such :D Most people don't realize there are different hardware setups (screen, memory, cpu, disk) so they all go for the similar price range.
Another way around the skimpy 32GB drive would be a memory card which would be inserted in the slot and left there and used to save your stuff. That would make you use an external USB card reader for your further card needs.
you should really specify the specific model. 120S is a range. The 120S-14IAP that you show has an SSD. The 120S-11IAP has no 2.5" and no SSD blade.

Did you ever find out if this particular machine was upgradeable ? I’m looking to put a larger m.2 into an identical laptop but it doesn’t look like its upgradeable as the HD looks to be part of the system board as I can’t locate it anywhere
As I showed in the video my particular model had a m.2 SSD in the bottom right side.
But if you had the budget celeron model that's only 32/64gb your storage maybe solder on board and may have no ports to expand this

So it turns out that the one that I have doesn't have that black bracket thingy that you slot it into, it's just the board.. so I'd have to figure out how to add it to use the ssd
it might only have soldered on emmc storage, if it does and doesnt have a nvme slot.

Are you sure this isn't SATA? I mean, there's a "Serial ATA" on it.
I have the same laptop but it doesn’t have a place to insert m.2 ssd head, it has a place for it but not for the golden ships. What do i have to do ?
I'm guessing yours is a cheaper model that doesn't have a m.2

Depending on exact model, if it's running a celeron then it might simply be to under powered
upgrade to ssd, if not already one. then dual boot with Antix Linux, its blazing fast on 2gb ram.

Just take it out and put it as second drive in a desktop, maybe borrow a friend's for this. Then you can format the entire partition giving you a clean drive

Ram can't be upgraded
I suspect that you have solder on storage and not a m.2 slot but you will need to open to check that

Right click windows icon in the bottom left computer and click on "system" it will tell you your CPU model

I think you will find you have the highly restricted 32gb emmc model
If you are lucky you might have a 2.5" hard drive slot

@@cmarco3702 mine was, but it came like this from lenovo... I have to constantly jiggle the windows updates and disk space in order to keep it updated, and to make things worst uninstalling old updates have to be done 1 by 1, because it can't handle all the same time...

you will more than likely have 32GB of eMMC memory, soldered on board if you do then you will need to open your laptop to see if you a m.2 slot

@@josulop7372 There are at least two different options regarding screen resolution (HD, full HD), three options of different CPU's (Celeron N3350 and N3450 and Pentium N4200), three options of memory (2,4 or 8GB of soldered LPDDR4) and four options of disk size (32 or 64GB of eMMC) and type (128 or 256GB m.2 SATA). They are all Lenovo Ideapad 120s 14IAP. The only upgrade possible not counting the m.2 wifi card is upgrading the 128GB or 256GB m.2 SATA drives - but only if you happen to already have either one of them as the eMMC motherboards don't have the m.2 connector. Screen swap is also possible from full HD to HD, other way round I'm not sure if the HD units have only one lane eDP cable or if they all use the same two lane part needed for full HD. If you want to search online for a certain unit properties, there is the exact model code in the bottom. It's the alphanumeric MTM code, starting with 81A5 for the 14" version.
