Today, I wanted to talk about some experiences that have impacted my life, specifically some situations that broke down my sense of self and my confidence. I gained a lot from those experiences, and learned how to demand respect and rebuild myself, learning to be more assertive and comfortable with negative criticism. Thank you all for your lovely letters and comments, I appreciate all of them even though I am not always able to reply.

Dandelion roots are very spicy and usually, I find, not very tasty. But if you mince it very well and roast it with honey, I like to add it to salads and sandwiches for added benefits. Here are some ideas: commonsensehome.com/harvestin...

I try to not let painful experiences stand in the way of making progress and taking control of my story. After experiencing some very damaging and abusive relationships in my late teens, I seek to reach out to others who are potentially dealing with similar situations, presently or in the past. Your age, gender, race, spiritual/religious beliefs, is never - and will never - be a valid reason for someone to treat you with anything less than respect. I believe people who have ill intentions towards others are often very hurt themselves. They have forgotten, or have never been taught, to properly love other humans. Sometimes they come to a point where they wish to heal their hearts, and sometimes they don’t. But that is their burden to bear, not yours.

My problem is the OPPOSITE ;) People complained through my growing up years that my being ADHD was a pain--I was loud and like can't even hold a conversation--like even now LOL. So your so called 'nervousness' I see as STRENGTH I would not even call it nervousness but a quiet peace and calm. The only person(s) who related to me were professors and my advisor. Even today (as you can tell from my repsonses) is slip shot to the point. BUT I am who I am --as for relationships I can't even hold them down not because of them but me LOL --think I do better with dogs in any event you rock ok? As for my ADHD as my graduate advisor says, HEY you are gifted bright who cares what they think go change the world with your intellect later keep rocking

I wish I'd learned it earlier, as well. Or, given myself permission to stand up for myself and to expect more from people and from life. Sadly, I was conditioned, early on, even expected, to settle for whatever life threw me, and to be happy about it. So, that's what I did. The 'grin & bear it' mentality. I sure put up with a lot, for a long time, before I realized it was ok to expect respect. So glad she learned it earlier... So glad we learned it, if later in life. Everyone deserves respect. As an empath, you take things a step further. You actually sense and feel emotions as if they’re part of your own experience. In other words, someone else’s pain and happiness become your pain and happiness.

Eventually I learned to leave a very emotionally abusive relationship and my ex-husband never made an effort to support or care for our only daughter. These were my thoughts some time ago when I was alone with myself thinking about life:
    Life

Life is about sadness, learning from it and how to cope with it.
Life is about joy and happiness, learning from it and share it.
Life is about emotions, learning from it and deal with it.
Life is about making mistakes, learning from it and move on with better knowledge.
Life is about making decisions, learning from it and becoming better at it.
Life is about caring for others, learning from it and being a better human being.
Life is about ups and downs, learning from it, adapt and overcome.
Life is about believing in yourself, learning from it and evolve.
Life is about taking a moment to contemplate your life, why you live, how you live and how you can improve it

Enjoy your life while you can
, preferably with someone you love.

Meaning, All those nice words and apologies and promises to do better don't mean anything if they don't change. If everything still stays the same. And, think of this... your fiance was probably on his BEST behavior while you two were engaged! Imagine how bad it might have gotten after you were married!. Even if we realize a relationship isn't and will never give us what we want and need, it still hurts to end it. We mourn for the dreams we had for the future. Then we're grateful we realized the truth before it was too late. I think you needed to end that engagement because there is someone so much more wonderful and caring and kind waiting for you. I'm praying for that for you! Love and Light.

Everyone I believe has had bad experiences with negative people, as one matures we examine behaviors and learn not to repeat that hurtful experience again choosing to eliminate those kinds of people from our lives.
It’s hard when your newly walking into the world as a grown up.
So happy that you found a kind mate. You dog is Beautiful.

I now stop and greet my reflection instead of looking past the girl in the mirror. All she ever wanted was her own love.
I have struggled with self worth in my life and my quiet alone time makes me feel safe, centered and loved. I love creating art and poetry. I connect with myself when creating.
I have learned to be more assertive and confident at my young age of 63. Still growing and learning as every day unfolds. I overcame 20 years of bulimia and I am so proud to be the person I have become. Never would I have gained strength and built character if not for my challenges in life.
Thank you, Paola, for sharing your life. Your experiences help me feel that I am not alone. I look forward to your beautiful self in all your videos.

Unshakeable foundation of love, respect, and TRUST. We have to trust that our friend or companion knows we have their best interest at heart and that we wholeheartedly believe in them. Or else it gets exhausting trying to convince them otherwise and as you well said, makes us second guess what we're trying to do. You approached this subject with a gentle and wise heart. 🙏

It's interesting how much we can relate to others' life. We feel many times that we are alone with our problems and nobody has ever been in our shoe. CZcams has opened a world where we can find and see easily similar lives to ours and connect and this is an awesome thing. Many people lack confidence that would be essential for a peaceful life. It's just super difficult to be confident when it's so easy to be distroyed. I also had a past relatioship that has shattered me and I'm not sure I'm ok, not even now, many years later. Although I live now happier, these past memories still hunt me and I have to fight them every day. On my CZcams channel I would like to encourage people too not to give up and show that we are not alone. We often don't realize that these videos help incredibly lot. The maker can finally talk about pains and get kinda relieved and people can find support. CottageFairy thanks for your videos and big hugs from Spain

I totally agree. CZcams has something for every issue. People are all struggling. In the past I thought everybody was happy and I was the only one struggling.

@@wildflowerwind6941 Just recently I was asked by a friend and the question really made me realized how fragile we are. She asked me if everybody on social media is really so happy what they look like (refering to the happy family, baby, holiday etc photos and happy daily posts). I was kinda shocked because first, I didn't know that my friend was coping with depression, she always looks super strong. Second, I was suprised to face the truth that selfdoubting happens more often in our environment than we think. I guess we are on our own journey findig who we are, it is just super difficult because the world is cruel, job is hard, relationships are not true. So so difficult to find honesty and reality. That's why I think these videos are so important and I'm so happy to see more and more.

I think cruelty from others stems from an inner empiness and jealousy. You are a strong person who is clearly discovering who you are which is a precious gift that remains elusive to others. Cherish who you become and hesitate to look back.

I think it is interesting how introverts are attracted to funny, outgoing people. My best friends growing up were extroverts as well as my husband of 42 years is. I can so relate to your videos and it makes me more at peace with myself and accepting of who I am, an introvert. I honestly can spend days without seeing or talking to another human being and not feel lonely. I have so much I enjoy doing, gardening, sewing, reading, photography, even organizing my home. Then I come out of my cocoon and want to be around others, for just a short time.
