The fact that he drove back instead of just paying the 3 dollars really shows the best of Saul's cheap scape motive.
Given that he's driving that car and living in the back of a nail salon he might actually have just not had the money
Season 5 saul would pay $10, maybe even $20. Probably not $30 though
I think you mean cheapskate; no harm no foul cheers
@@Jimmyisabot are you... a good grammar nazi??
Wtf, im not paying 3 bucks for a mild inconvenience
The whole stickers saga is so well written. It shows how Jimmy’s approach to any situation is to cut corners, even for a minuscule thing like parking validation. It would take less time to just get the stickers right every time, but he’s compelled to do it. It’s in his nature to try shortcuts.
is that good or bad?
How is it “well written” when it’s only Jimmy who has a problem with it, and no other characters ever mention it, even in passing??
This is dumb padding that’s attempting to be funny, but it’s not.
Edit: It makes Jimmy look like an actual ret*rd who doesn’t understand anything. How can I feel sympathy for a character who is that dumb?
@@jeffw8218 😂 It’s well written BECAUSE he clearly is the only one having the problem due to his nature

What's great about this lighthearted montage is it's perfect character exposition - Jimmy is more about the "spirit of the law," where people should be cut a break if the circumstances determines it. Mike (and Jimmy's brother Chuck as well) is more about the "rule of the law" - no stickers, no validation (i.e. no "half measures").
Chuck would also go the other way and use/bend the “rules” to his advantage whereas Mike just straight up enforces the rules as they are.
No cutting corners 😂😂😂😂
Consequentialist vs deontological ethics
@@richardmccabe2392 I love this distinction. My teenage son taught it to me (although I am a college graduate). At any rate, we phrase it "utilitarian" vs "deontological". From "The Watchman", Ozymandius is utilitarian and Rorsarch a deontological.
The point, to me, is that neither works when taken to extremes. But its fun watching characters interact in a fictional world when they try.
"I'm not makin' you do anything. Those're the rules." "Whatever helps you sleep at night!" is a genuinely great deep cut into Mike's character too.
“The Man in the Booth! John Wilkes Booth” always kills me

Mike is a super by the rules guy, he doesnt bend them for anyone, be a good german friend or a singular sticker, he has rules either him or his employer have set and his job is to follow them, thats that

Probably cos Mikes son died due to not wanting to be a dirty cop and being disappointed in Mike for being a dirty cop so now he refuses to break or bend any rules.

Mike's job both looks boring and fun.

There's a book "Verbal Judo" which has a lot of verbal techniques that Mike employs. Look at 1:05. Mike doesn't say 'no', he doesn't use the word 'but', he doesn't argue with anything Saul says. He addresses Saul's point, and then calmly states his two options. If you want Mike's skills, I recommend looking into it
You’re kind of allowed to be a grump when you work at a ticket booth

I think it's just rare for Jimmy to not get his way with people lol.
Maybe each time he's hoping to find the other guy at the post instad of Mike? I remember there's at least another guy working there.
A string of bad days and a reoccurring issue can cause people to act like that, even typically level headed jimmy
i think for him it sort of became like a challenge to get Mike to crack and let him pass.
It’s cuz jimmy secretly want attention from Mike.
I like to think Jimmy, the conman that he is, was intentionally being low on stickers and insisting on it so that Mike would eventually give in and let him through. It would be easy to convince him to do it again after the first time. Eventually, after realizing he had just found a (quite literally) immovable barrier, he relented. It actually makes sense with how Jimmy often sees a rule and thinks of ways of going around it instead of complying, even when the latter would be easier.
