A thorough board certified dermatologist would have done a scalp biopsy, examine your hair follicles, distance of thinning hair strands and examine your nails to rule out fungal infections such as tinea capitis. There are evaluations to determine if a person has alopecia areata. I know because I have it!💃🏽
