----------------------------------------------------------------------------
It's a tradition that dates back to before PRODIGY BOWLERS TOUR even existed, as the kids in the Roswell Varsity and Roswell Junior Varsity leagues at Brunswick Zone Roswell go "bowling for turkeys," and we don't mean three strikes in a row (although that might be helpful). It’s our annual “Thanksgiving Turkey Shootout,” and today they're bowling for actual, real deal frozen turkeys. The winners each receive a big frozen Butterball Premium turkey, the 2nd place finishers each get a smaller frozen "Li'l Butterball" turkey, the 3rd place finishers each receive a frozen Butterball turkey breast, and our 4th place finishers each receive a tiny little Prospect Farms Cornish Hen.
Our bowlers used their league scores as their qualifying round, with the top 4 from each league advancing. We paired them up for the Championship Round, where they bowl a modified Scotch Doubles format, a slight variation on the alternate shot format, with the two players taking turns throwing the first ball in each frame -- one player throwing the first ball in the odd numbered frames and their partner throwing the first ball in the even numbered frames.
This is one of the rare handicap events we cover on PRODIGY BOWLERS TOUR, and one of the best things about our annual Thanksgiving Turkey Shootout is that it tends to produce a cast of bowlers that includes a few kids that our viewers don't ordinarily get to see. And today's contest is no exception. The field today ranges from a 200+ average bowler to one whose average is 57. They all have a chance to win.
As always, we welcome your comments, but insist that you keep your critiques positive. The kids aren't the only ones who read this board; their parents do, too. And remember, the mission of PRODIGY BOWLERS TOUR is to "Celebrate Junior Bowling while we Elevate Junior Bowling." So keep your comments helpful, not hurtful, and we'll be fine. But if all you have to offer is to insult, injure or diss any of our bowlers, your comment will be removed.
Your play-by-play announcer is USBC Silver Certified Coach and former PBA member Randy Brown, a member of the Texas Radio Hall of Fame.

*** AS ALWAYS, PLEASE DO *NOT* POST SPOILERS! *** ALSO NOTE: You might wanna stay 'til the very end on this one. There's a little surprise packed in right after the first set of closing credits.
Will we see you bowl this season on prodigy Randy, how many games a week do you get to bowl now ? Happy Thanksgiving from England
I'll never rule it out. But I'm not bowling much these days.
As always Randy I truly enjoyed your video. The children certainly make it noticeable how different and unique they are. I think you are really in your element with what you are doing. The children always seem to recognize your attitude toward them as being supportive in every way. They seem at ease, and that can't be faked in this sort of venue.
Perhaps I am in my second childhood since I am nearing 76 years of age, and that is why I get such a kick out of your show. My particular bowling alley closed this last Spring, and most of us moved onto the lanes on Fort Leonard wood Mo. It is a much larger house with 40 lanes. I have had a terrible time adapting to the lane change. The move, coupled with a lot of problems with arthritis, have really played havoc with my game. I still love the game, but the pain is surely taking my game away, but I can still watch those children on Prodigy bowlers tour.
Thanks for all you do for the sport with your encouragement of the future bowlers around Georgia. I hope to be able to help support your endeavors sometime in the future, but right now all my resources are critical for the support of my grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Life has a way of making demands on us no matter how long we live.
I thank God for you and people like you, especially around Thanksgiving. You are making a difference in the lives of the next group that the leaders of the country will be taken from. One just never knows what the ripples one makes on the waters of the ocean of life will accomplish. I don't think it will ever end until everything is finished. Everyone has an effect on those they deal with on a daily basis, and that effect will in turn effect their dealing with others down the road. It can be seen throwing a rock into a small pond of water. The waves created never stop until they reach the shore. May your waves always be critical for the common good. God-bless
Glad to see LoFo made an appearance in prodigy this week, miss watching him bowl
These tournaments are great, I really enjoy listening to these while a study.
1:08:35 in my 30 years of bowling I didn't even think this was possible!

Yes I love shootouts!!!
I’m watching this on my birthday! This year it’s on Thanksgiving!
You and I share the same birthday -- November 22nd. Although I'm guessing I probably had my first one a few years before you had yours. :-) Happy Birthday!
BrownswickBowling yeah lol! Thanks! Happy birthday to you to!
NICe vid randy love the vids ❤️
Always press on those notifications so fast!
It’s hard to watch prodigy without Charlie and Logan.
My favorite thing about the Thanksgiving Turkey Shootout is that it always seems to produce a field that includes some players that our viewers otherwise never get to see.
I think on that opening shot (split), she would have made it if the 7 didn't move forward as it did on the first shot. Great attempt!!!!
Well, just about everything in this match was unexpected. Some really unique "leaves". Everything close!
Is there any chance we could see another team showdown anytime soon? That's been my favorite episode ever since it came out! I believe it was mid-June 2017. Thanks for taking it into consideration!
Holy... Is his name.. Ayden? I'VE NEVER SEEN ANOTHER AYDEN IN A TRILLION YEARS AND THE COOL THING IS.. I BOWL TOO!!
Ayden Geist - You are not alone!
@@ProdigyBowlersTour :D
@@ProdigyBowlersTour Did I mention that I bowl two handed too?
The things I don't like about the pinsetters is where it doesn't give it enough time to let the pins fall over
Randy u need to put the patron link in description of your videos, that is how all the creators do it.
Done. Thanks. I usually do. Forgot this week.
I thing we need to teach joseph some lane attiqute

As always, loved the show! As an old bowling nut, this and PBA 50 are my favorite shows. I have a couple of questions, if you have time. Do the kids and/or parents look to you for ball recommendations? Do you believe in building an arsenal through a single manufacturer or a mix and match approach? I subscribe to the latter, but I understand why some bowlers prefer the former. Thank you & keep up the great work, please!
Occasionally, someone will ask me my opinion about specific balls, and/or about building an arsenal in general. For starters, I don't pretend to know as much as I could about all the various brands of bowling balls and the dozens (hundreds?) of different specific balls that are out there. Personally, I tend to be fairly brand loyal to the brand of bowling ball that I prefer for myself (Storm). But I'm not a staff guy, and I'm quick to point out if anyone will listen that if you stick with the major brands, they all make quality products.
If any one brand seems to have a lock on a particular market right now, I'd say that Hammer has the best urethane balls available. But that's a fairly small niche, and urethane, while a viable option for all players to have in their arsenal, is decidedly more useful for a certain type of player (high rev).
But I'll tell you how I built my arsenal. It's all Storm, all the time. I don't even have any Roto Grip balls in my bags. There actually is a reason why I tend to stick to one manufacturer, and it goes back to the fact that I also do my own maintenance (surface adjustments, etc.). I learned a few years ago that Storm recommends deep cleaning their equipment by using the hot, soapy water method, saying that the "hot air" (bowling ball oven) method is not recommended because it can crack the insides of their balls. Brunswick, on the other hand, once told me that their equipment should absolutely NOT be deep cleaned with the hot water method, and that if you did, you'd risk damaging the core of the ball. They told me that the manufacturing methods between the two brands were different enough that while Storm's equpment should be deep cleaned using the hot, soapy water method, Brunswick's equipment should absolutely be deep cleaned using the hot air (bowling ball oven) method.
Knowing that the same method is not recommended by both brands, and since I don't own a bowling ball oven, I decided it was best to stick with one brand so I wouldn't have to call every single manufacturer to make sure I was deep cleaning their equipment the way they recommended. All my stuff is Storm, so I know I can deep clean it all the same way. And when I do, I get a little assembly line type operation going in my bathroom with buckets of hot soapy water in the tub. Makes it easy.
So yes, I do tend to recommend building an arsenal with just one brand. But I don't necessarily recommend one particular brand over another. They're all good. And I happen to think that right now, Hammer is probably the best in the way of urethane balls.
My opinion and a dollar will buy you a lousy cup of coffee.
Thanks for an interesting take on the subject.
HANDICAPS ARE NOT FAIR...
It's OK at my bowling league we use handicap
I think they need to check the deck channels in this place. Way too many corner points left in this house.
According to the USBC Equipment Specifications and Certificatins Manual:
Flat gutters must be constructed of wood or other materials which have been tested and approved according to USBC procedures for the specified time period.
1. The width shall be 9 1/4 inches, plus/minus 1/4 inch, including the molding.
2. From a point opposite or within 15 inches ahead of the No.1 pin spot, the gutter must have square bottoms and must be at least 1 7/8 inch beneath the surface of the lane.
3. Opposite the center of the rear row of pin spots, the depth shall be 3 1/2 inches, plus/minus 1/8 inch.
According to center management, the lanes at Brunswick Zone Roswell were originally constructed to meet these specifications, and the flat gutters are at the maximum allowable depth. Which basically means they meet criteria #3 by being 3 5/8 inch deep (3 1/2 + 1/8 inch -- the maximum allowable depth).
At this maximum allowable depth, you're going to get more "weak 10" and "weak 7" leaves than you would if the gutter depths were set to the minimum allowable depth (3 3/8 inch). You wouldn't think just 1/4 inch would impact it so much, but it does. Plus, the sideboards (aka "kickbacks") are not especially lively at this center. Some centers install newer, made-to-be-lively sideboards, but BZ Roswell never has.
Personally, as a coach (and as a bowler), I prefer to have my home center have tough carry. It means that whenever we travel elsewhere, we're likely to find that the pins go down a little easier. In some cases, a LOT easier.
But honestly, with the deeper gutters, you're really only going to notice the difference on the weak 10/7 leave. A ringin' 10 (or 7 for lefties) is going to be the same either way, since on that hit, the 6 pin (or 4 pin for lefties) doesn't lay down in the gutter; it flies up and around the neck of the corner pin. The depth of the gutter never becomes an issue.
Hey coach Randy I hope you are working with Patrick reminds me of myself with I was 10 hopefully that can be fixed throwing behind the back
He's just getting started.
I've been bowling for about a month now and i'm putting up a 140 average. Any general tips for two handers?
Find a coach in your area...and practice, practice, practice. The only thing that beats repetitions is repetitions with a purpose.
BrownswickBowling Thanks, I'll look in to seeing a coach.
I’m new to bowling I’m put up a 79 almost every time any tips??

Whatever happened to Josh, Kara, Korina, and Tyrell? Loved watching them bowl but they seem to have disappeared
Josh Doneghy has gone off to college. So he's basically done with junior bowling league competing on his college team (they have a rather formidable lineup -- it won't surprise me if they contend for some big championships with the talent they have). Kara still bowls our league, but she's busy with her church and work, so she rarely gets to stay after to bowl PRODIGY. Hopefully she will occasionally, Korina also still bowls our league, but just hasn't stayed after very often this season. I suspect she will on occasion. Hope so, anyway. And Tyrell Ingalls doesn't actually bowl at our bowling center. He and some others -- Dawson Stewart, Bryant Griffith, Gilbert Kang, Jacob Ballenger, the Jho brothers (I'm sure I'm leaving somebody out) all bowl league over at Brunswick Zone Lilburn. So hopefully we'll see them on occasion when their league is taking a weekend off for whatever reason and they still want to bowl. I love having them over, and they're always welcome. As are any other youth bowlers in the area...or from outside the area, when they want to travel to see us.
Do Jorge and Ellie throw the Brunswick Blue + Silver Rhino ball?
I have no idea.
Hi
Hunter Ray
What ball does faith use? Looks like a match up pearl
it's a Roto Grip Show Off...
odellus The black and gold one?
Infernal Spectre first is a Storm Son!q and then she switches to the Roto Grip Show Off
Some day can I play
Visitors are always welcome to come try their hand at getting on PRODIGY. First-time visitors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, as they will be required to sign a parental consent form that grants me permission to photograph and film their minor child and put their image and likeness on the internet. But other than that, you just have to show up, pay your $10 and bowl. Of course, there's no guarantee that just because you enter you'll necessarily survive the cut and make the show. But you're welcome to try. Many have, and quite a number of them have managed to make the show. But I will tell you that as so many have found, it's not as easy to make the show, or to win, as it may look. But we'd love to have you come try. My advice is to stay in close touch with me if you decide to come, so (a.) we can make sure you're coming on a day when we're bowling, and (b.) I can be on the lookout for you. Join our Facebook group so you can Facebook Messenger me.
Can you try to get Logan F to get on Prodigy again?
Bonham The Bowler we were close this time...
He bowled this one. But he left when he didn't think his scores were good enough to make the cut. If he'd known that he was in 4th, I'm sure he would have stayed and bowled. But he mistakenly believed that he likely had missed the cut. There's a lesson here: When you're not sure, stick around. You never know. You might have made the cut.
BrownswickBowling I mean like another Prodigy video though.
I don't coerce anyone to bowl. They're free to bowl with us if they want to. The entry fee is cheap. $10. Logan is always welcome to take part. If you want to see him bowl PRODIGY, then you should tell him.
BrownswickBowling Ok. I could ask him on his channel. I am a fan of his channel. Also, I am a fan of your channel as well. And yes I bowl too. In Jr. Gold when I’m not sure when I make the cut in the past or not, I still stay at the alley no matter what. Good luck to your Prodigy bowlers. Thank you for response and hope to comment or ask a question soon.
SPOILER ALERT: Pins fell and two people got 1st. Sorry!!!
Hilarious. You're the first person to ever think of that----------NOT!
I'm matt dischinger
Nobody's perfect. ;-) hahahahaha Happy Thanksgiving, Matt! When are you gonna come bowl PRODIGY with us again? We miss you. Your brother has been tearing it up this season.
