    Best BMW channel I found so far!. Thank you for the S63 video. I had a collapsing vanos pulley on mine. We stripped the motor because we thought it was bearing but they are stil fine at 100000km.

    So happy when I saw the video the other day , this is the icing on the cake for the weekend !
    Also learned something too. I would have torqued all the caps down to 20nm then done the stretch after they were all torqued up. In my mind this is more logical, so interesting to see it done this way.

    • @dnl35projects
      @dnl35projects  Před měsícem

      Thanks, i'm glad you like it. To be honest, I dont think it would be much drama in torquing them all to 20Nm then doing the rotation on the sequence mentioned because there is still clearance on the bearings however for the engine heads and parts with dry gaskets is imperative that we torque in the correct sequence. (generally from the inside bolts to the outside)

    Great to see you back! Where’s the e70 x5m vs the e60 m5 race at? I just remember that from an old video I figured I’d ask.

      @dnl35projects  Před měsícem

      Hahaha i'm gonna be 100% honest with you ! The E60 M5 is my favourite car however I was a naughty boy last year and did not achieve some financial goals - As a punishment I decided not to renew the registration of the M5 and let it sit in storage until I can improve my finances 😝 I haven't driven that car since March last year, just start it once a month ... If things go well I should be able to get that car back on road around November then will do some videos for the channel and race the X5m !

      @@dnl35projectshahaha it’s totally alright. I have a 2013 bmw x5 xdrive50i m sport with the only year it came with the factory m performance package. So the N63 with a mild dealer tune. Honestly, it feels just as quick as a stock s63 e70 x5m to me. Bmw as you know always underrated power numbers. It’s in a storage unit because I spun a rod bearing but finally this summer it’s getting a new longblock. I love it. It’s never going anywhere. Love to see where all this channel goes. I’ll be watching

    First i will thank you for your videos :D I have a f10 M5 comp with a downpipe without tuning and I get white smoke when I accelerate and let off the gas/under revs.
    I don't lose any coolant and believe that the oil consumption is normal. What could it be? its around 10-15-20.25 Celsius here

    • @dnl35projects
      @dnl35projects  Před měsícem

      Thanks - Its really hard to pin point the issue without seeing the car and also interesting to know your coolant levels are not dropping (for both reservoirs right?)

      Thank you for taking the time to reply :D Yes for both reservoirs. Now I have put the original catalytic converters back on and the smoke has been minimized and disappeared when the engine is warm. It can come when I stand still for a little while and rev the engine and let go, but only once now and not as much as before. I will leave it as it is, even if the sound is not as good :/

    I have a question for you:
    Do the S63 and N63 have identical cylinder heads when it comes to the Exhaust port diameter?
    I am in the process of making a custom exhaust manifold for the S63 (split banks) and as a shortcut I had already looked into running the N63 Twin-scroll manifolds, but then realized that the exhaust manifold gaskets of the N63 are much smaller diameter than the S63 so I got a bit confused

    • @dnl35projects
      @dnl35projects  Před měsícem +1

      Hi, the cams are different but i'm not sure about the ports size and unfortunately I have none in the bench to check

    • @farturinn
      @farturinn Před měsícem

      @@dnl35projects OK thanks, I cut up a F10M5 manifold to split up the banks, just trying to find a local welder to patch it up. It will then need a tune to re-arrange the O2 sensor readings, but I have that covered. The information I had from one X5M FB group member was that the port sizes were the same between the two but I just found it very strange as even the Original E70 X5M manfild (and the F10M5 manfold) have much bigger runners than the N63 manifold gasket.
      Maybe if you have time you could measure the exhaust ports on the engine you are building.

    Hey man, take a leaf out of M539 Restorations. Take your time with editing and explaining in every step. People who watch these videos are here for the detail. They’re not mechanics, most will never be able to dream of owning such a car, let alone rebuilding such engines. You will get views like crazy and there’s room for growth as other you-tubers doing the same thing are waiting 2/3/4 weeks inbetween videos, all M539 restorations fans have something to watch from your channel whilst they wait.
