These backdrops were supplied to me from Savage free of charge. This review and it's content were not reviewed or paid for by outside persons or manufacturers. - Krátké a kreslené filmy
4:32 is EXACTLY the look I want for my talking heat shots - love the colours of blue and purple together. Wow!
Have been using a blue curtain for the moment whilst I grow my channel but want something more professional looking that I don’t have to worry about but I’m less than 3 foot away from the wall cause its a small room.
The pop up looks like a great option too.
Thank you so much for your advice. Your channel has helped me loads.
Was just about to replace my cloth background so this is great timing! Thanks!
A tip I often share on backdrops and cycs is; get some sheet vinyl kitchen or bathroom flooring at a blow-out sale price, off the end of a used roll, or a roll that's not selling well because it's ugly or an unpopular color. What's on the top doesn't matter, since we're using the flat "felt" bottom. I prime this with water-based latex KILZ primer and hang it by thru-bolting it between two 2x4's at one end. I let it hang free to form a natural curve at the floor and, boom; white cyc. It's heavy, not very portable, but durable as heck, washable, you can roll it up somewhat for storage, and, once primed, you can make it chroma green or gray and light it as Caleb does his papers and vinyls. The cost is very reasonable.
Try IKEA roller black out blinds - white/grey/black 8 foot wide and long - great vinyl on an aluminium roll, no crease with mounting brackets and really cheap
Good idea!
Thanks a lot Graham
only 46" wide :/ idk if that's large enough for what he shows in this video

WAAAAAY TO GO
Love this video! Hey where do I get that color changer thing? I have a white vinyl backdrop but didn’t know you could add those colors like that. Does the light have to be in the shot to get that color or no?
ideally you would put the light source behind you so it's not in the shot.
I'm currently building my CZcams studio and this was a huge help for color backgrounds. My studio walls are Swiss Coffee, and I already picked Behr Hush, which is a nice grey. I love the saturation you showed us, really neat. Thank you
Dude, once again you kncoked it out of the park. Thanks for teaching me so much about filmmaking and for these solutions!
Thank you so much! I'm trying to start my CZcams journey and my home and rooms feel too small to use my lighting equipment in. The will work great as a starting point in my garage. Thank youuuuu!
Thank you very much for this post. It cleared all the questions I had regarding video backdrops!
I just recorded an interview where that popup backdrop would have worked really well. Wish I had seen this video when it first came out. Thanks again, Caleb.
Loved it! Great! Grey was my personal fave. It's the most easily manipulable in color with lighting (or no lights to achieve black). I've also had issues with black backgrounds' wrinkles being the most obvious. I got some "Downy Wrinkle Releaser" (only useful for fabric), but haven't tried it yet.
This is awesome, I was just about to buy come paper but this is waaay better! Love the popup idea as a backup solution! Thanks Brother!
Caleb, this was SO helpful! Thanks very much for posting this and your Channel is brilliant! In the midst of setting up my own home studio (with limited space! Lol!), so your pop up solution will fit the bill! I recently purchased your G85 guide too and I am LOVING this camera...but I wouldn't have gotten so much out of it (so fast), if it weren't for your helpful tips and additional resources...keep up the amazing work and best wishes from Scotland, to you and your family! :)
just amazing to see ur videos, full of info and quality content
FANTASTIC video! As always
Always such solid content, thank you.
That was very informative. I especially like the portable version as I do mobile headshots all the time. I'll be buying one of those kits today.
Awesome video! I've actually just switched to a gray muslin backdrop. I'm hitting the muslin with a Pergear 960 panel with a half blue CTB and setting my camera at 3200K. This is creating a really nice pop of deep blue. The only set back is that the cloth has to be steamed once in a while, so I may try a vinyl drop next. Also, I noticed that the RGB light you use is no longer being made. Are there and alternatives besides the Youngneo light wand or is that my best bet for popping color into my backgrounds?
Great video, as always, Caleb. Any comments on why Savage products seem to be so expensive and how they may or may not be worth it compared to other similar products on Amazon? I'm thinking specifically of the portable screen.
This was very informative and I learnt a lot of useful things. Thank you very much.
Thanks for the helpful demo and insight.
Never heard of this product before. This is actually pretty good. dope
So weird I was looking for vinyl backdrops and here you go making a video about it. Good news is google liked your video and presented it to me on my searches. Thank you again for reading my mind and making me spend more money. LOL
That blue is beautiful.
I'm using a similar folding backdrop but in green/blue colors - obviously for keying purposes like in my latest overhead camera rig video. Mostly my shots don't include any backdrops - just using the space where I'm shooting at. -Joonas
These have *always* been on my long-term studio goals. Don't have the space/etc. for them right now, but I've always wanted this kind of setup.
Wow I learned alot in this video!
Nice video, I got a lot out of this information on a Vinyl backdrop use! Thank you!
You can increase the colour saturation on the white background by turning down the light. Obviously it won’t give the same saturated look as the gray background, but you do get some control.
Great info, thanks for the very detailed video. Really appreciate it!
I bought a white vinyl window shade at a home store on a whim around 4 months ago for video (won't talk about what I was using in my old videos... haha). Turned out it was good enough and lights similar to how you were describing in the beginning of the video. It has some markings/patterning from being thin/rolled up, but if enough light hits it I don't notice texture in the resulting video. Recently I was able to get more filming space and upgraded my window shade for $15 to get a wider one (now 55" w by 75" h). Though, larger ones than what I use jump up in price a lot. (Edit, I see your vinyl have the same wavy issue when not lit)
Thanks! I think you made the price sound scarier than it really is. I was pleasantly surprised. More than paper, but still (probably) affordable (for most.)
This is a great video. You explain thing very well and solved my problem. Thank you for posting.
Hi there! Any tips on removing/dealing with banding when backdrop is darkish and smooth?
Caleb loves his shades of gray ;)
Alexander Mustermann he has 50 different ones. We don’t talk about that on the family friendly channel.
Love the pop up backdrops, didn't know those existed. Thanks for the showcase!
Hi Caleb, I have been using a white cotton sheet for my background, I've got it stretched out along a wall to keep it from wrinkling, but after watching this video, I'm going to check out paper and vinyl. Great video.
Yeah, same. so, how's it? which one do u prefer? cotton sheet, paper or vinyl?
as always, informative. thumbs up for the effort and the sharing. i am a very appreciative subscriber.
At our studio we use heavy duty billboard vinyl. You can get a 16x20' piece for around $75 online and it's double sided as white and black plus weather/UV resistant.
VERY insightful video, been looking for backdrop advice everywhere, and this is the best explainer. I will sub the channel for it, and like of course!
Sick dude!
what a high quality video i really love your presentation and set up you are smart dude.
🙏 Thank! I did not know that there are vinyl backgrounds. Planned to buy paper. But now ... 😃
Caleb ....
As always love the video. You were in the top ranking for my backdrop search. Awesome!
P.S.-I love the background music, I really do.
-Will
Thanks for the video.
Very good info, excellent production quality.
Would have been nice to see where all the lights were when using the black background - i.e. how you were lighted but the vinyl was not.
thanks for sharing.
Thanks for this much needed. What lights do u recommend
Awesome vid! Thanks...so helpful
What RGB lights are you using there? I’m looking for something to use for color that will show up. Even with my main light turned down, the colored lights I have don’t really show up.
Awesome! Thank you!
Just added this on my wishlist. Hopefully I can source one here in Dubai. Thanks Caleb.
Very helpful, thank you!
Awesome video. Thank you.
Very helpful. Thanks
Nice video bro,
Can I know what backdrop Unboxing therapy use it?, vinyl grey colour or?
Super useful. Thanks!
Awesome. Great advice!!
Very professional video and great presentation. I know next to nothing about this, and am quite disappointed with the "cotton muslin" backdrop in blue from ebay, as even with a fabric steamer, the creases just remain. No idea if they will ever go completely, so I will need to edit them out somehow.
this is great. what are you using to light yourself from the front?
Dope video!
Thanks for this one dude
Thank you!
An awesome video!
Great video Caleb. We also use Savage backdrops. Your vids are getting better and better. -- Joey
Thanks Joey! You as well! Been subbed for a little while now. While I have you, do you still think the LG C7 65" is a good HDR TV? My wife and I are looking to get an HDR TV for our ATV and PC gaming.
Do you notice any difference in sound (reflection) when you are using paper, or vinyl, compared to fabric backgrounds? I've lined a spare room in moving blankets, and I'm concerned that paper, or vinyl would act like a bare wall with regards to sound. Thanks
very nice....thanks
very informative ..
Thanks caleb .. what the name of the track in the end of the video please ?! :)
Hello, your videos have helped me a lot, thank you very much. I have a course and I interview guests, I want to film the complete picture (me and the guest) and in the post production make cuts only on me and the guest as if I had 3 cameras. To do this I imagine that recording should have a great quality and so I imagine it should be 4k, right? Which one do you think: lumix g7 or m50?
Your channel is amazing bro. Keep up the amazing work!
Would have thought that you would cover and talk about green or blue bg for keying. Have had a portable one like that the last one you showed for almost 10 years - green on one side and blue on the other. Portable key is just as important as a static bg to me.
Thank you! 😁
Hi Caleb did you say you know the exact paint needed to pain the studio neutral grey? I think that was you. It was a good tip I heard during a live video you did I think.
Always store vinyl back drops vertically. This is key to avoiding flat spots that are caused by the weight of the roll upon its self. If you store them on horizontally (as Caleb is doing in this video), you will get waves in the roll that are impossible to remove.
imaginetMedia like roll it up, put it in its tube and set it up vertical?
Wow did I watch this 4 days too late. I am using paper and everything you said about the advantages of vinyl is was I was looking for. Btw, what is that great little light over you right shoulder? It looks like 2 of them would be perfect to achieve an nice even backdrop light. I was considering 2 Aputure 300d all but that little panel you are using looks like if might do a better job as a flood solution. Anyway would love to hear back.
Excellent
Caleb, you quite possibly may have the most helpful channel on CZcams 😒🤔. Ijs
Thanks
Does this work w photography if you are using strobes? Or will the flash change the color of the backdrop?
Literally just been looking into this. How did you know, Caleb?
curious about your lighting set up
Thanks for sharing...
what is the rolling system that you r using , I can't find a rolling system that can support 4 vinyl rolls
Whoa baby, that vinyl gives a heck of a lot more color control. You sold me, again. :) Please give us a link for that rectangular RGB light. We're all dying to check it out.
Could you give us the link of your rgb light plz ? ;)
Aputure Light Storm LS 1/2w
Hi Caleb, which RGB system did you use for the popup backdrop section of this video?
Aputure Light Storm LS 1/2w
Could you use a projector screen and different color lights?
Light link please. I went on amazon and found the smaller one but where is the bigger light?
thanks for the great info Caleb! One little question: what is the name of the light you are using right behind you? It looks like one from Came-tv but which one?
I’d like to know too please
what light(s) are you using in this video? very cool
How your r changing the colors?

Thanks for making this video. I feel like it was just last week I asked about the backdrops. That's some crazy good customer service! On a side note, I saw several suggestions to change your music. For what it's worth, I thought the music was good. Thanks again!
@dslrvideoshooter please send a link for where i can get the rgb light with the blue and red gels, thanks inadvance
What size vinyl are you using in this video? P.S. LOVED this video!
is the vinyl backdrops same as PVC backdrops?
Great video as always. What app or feature are you using on your iPhone to check the video? (When you adjust the lighting) very cool! 😎
Probably Panasonic Image App, available for Android and iOS? play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.panasonic.avc.cng.imageapp&hl=en
very helpful info, bruh
the flip out background is great I use the Green screen one... Have you done a green screen video yet ? I'm new to your channel...
