- Interesting Video backgrounds can be created many different ways including green screen, blue screen chroma key, wall projection, rear projection, front projection, digitally printed or painted backdrops, fake sets, props and real backgrounds and locations. Even ugly boring locations can be made interesting.

How the F... you have only 104k subs. I absolutely love your enthusiasm, like a lil kid in the toy shop. You've been my inspiration for years Markus! Thank you so much!
This might be one of the all time underrated CZcams channels
It's great to get real, pragmatic information from someone who's been there and done it for decades.
Your channel is by far the best
One of the reasons why I LOVE this channel is the fact that you have a splendid way of explaining things, but most of all you are REAL.
Love you guys.
I love how genuine and almost insecure you can sound when you're just opening up and bring honest, like when you explained why cloth backdrops are your favorite type of studio background. My favorite creators are all people who you can tell are just being honest and sincere and not trying to put on any kind of act.
Also, thanks for the tip about using an orange halo to create a cleaner cut with green screens; that will come in handy.
You are helping this 40 years vegan who's 60 years old make better videos. I just started promoting my channel which is all about spreading love and positivity by posting community signs. I've watched your health vids but only recently discovered your awesome photo/video production material. Many Blessings to you and your team.
“Quick and Dirty “. OMG Markus this is a great educational video and with a lot of hard work which doesn’t go unnoticed. Thank you! Ps I like to shoot outdoors in a park and set my lens to give me a blurry background
Incredible production & educational value right there... Thank you
I love Markus. His attitude is always like "oh man, why do you make me do this" at the beginning of every video and by the end, he's like a kid on Christmas. He seems to legitimately enjoy what he does and just doing creative stuff but most of all sharing knowledge. I really appreciate what you do and the way you do it. Thank you for the fun and educational videos.
1:08 - That is HILARIOUS!!!
Wow! I am so amazed on all the wonderful work You do!!! Love it! Your photography, your art work!! Your wife photos are lovely! All your crafting in making studios. Movies keep, doing you!
The mountains turned out really good!
I've only watched this like 6 times. Thanks, Markus.
Glad you enjoyed it!
the bakdrops actually look the best
Thanks! I frequently share your videos with my nephew, who is in film school.
Wow this was phenomenal! Wowowowow well done! Also, two stellar videos from you in my recommendations earns you a new subscriber!
This is - hands down - THE BEST video on the this subject. Funny thing, I’ve been searching CZcams the entire day for information on background, and along comes this masterpiece of a video. Thank you so, so, much Markus❤😊
Glad it was helpful!
Subscribed just because of these little tricks and the passion that you clearly have in your work and don't mind to share with everyone.
This video is outstanding. It deserves a million views😊
Bing bada bing! Another great instructional video. This is gold. Thank you Markus and Cara. - Jim
The Bruce Wayne of YT is back with another banger! The most trustworthy advice on technique & gear! Thank you Sir🎉
Your talent for teaching is a true gift
A Legend as always! Even though there's no new info for me in this video I watched every second of it because you explain it so well. There's so much information squeezed into this video. Very useful knowledge! Thank you so much for making these videos and helping photographers and other creatives! Thank you Markus!
Awesome. Freakin' awesome. Like getting a doctorate education and from someone likeable. Thank you!
That forest background is perfect for product photography with an addition of maybe a real tree branch with some leaves...Another GREAT video Markus...Love this kind of stuff...😊❤
love the backdrops you hang
The Mandalorian LED wall is called a Volume. Cool stuff!
Man I love your vids ;)
I disagree without you about the food health stuff and things like that but your vids on SFX and photography are amazing! Not only re they informative and helpful for all levels with no gatekeeping, it's also great in spirit and openness too- You're just enthusiastic and excited to show and tell what you know. This is like the good old days of youtube (with better quality) before people just cared about making money through it. You're not trying to sell us stuff or make a vid on trivial subject so you can get 500k views and get your ad revenue for the day.
These are just genuinely good videos.
This video obviously took alot of work. Thank you for that Markus. Awesome video!
Bo
Thanks Bo
Man you are an absolute genius on this subject. You make every other video from other youtubers look like they were made by complete beginners. I'm just starting this as a hobby in my retirement and I've learnt so much from you it's unbelievable.
Markus, thanks for playing with us!
🙌👍💖Outstanding Video! Phenomenal information. Thanks for the gems🙌🙌👍👌
I’ll never use any of these background options but I sure enjoyed the hell out watching this video! Great job Markus !
Markus you read my mind in my current life all the time. Im moving in June to a larger house and am making a small portrait studio within my garage space. Finding some good backrounds and coming up with some ideas has been a current thing with me. Thank you!
Hey Marcus really cool background it looks real hello to you and your wife for more great videos 🌞👍💕
Thank you Markus! As usual you are generous with your knowledge and experience.
This is one of my favorite videos you made. It’s insanely helpful and insightful, plus that jacket is 🔥
Really helpful tips and after a lifetime in television I’m still learning . Thank you so much! And I accidentally put a thumbs down so please forgive me - followed by a heartfelt thumbs up!
Best tip is the orange fringing backlight - brilliant thought.
I learned a lot from you! It's a pleasure to listen to the presentation of a knowledgeable person! Special thanks for sharing your knowledge with the viewers of the channel.
i love the way you do these videos. This was very cool. Your miniature set videos are still best.
master of light
Pure Gold, many thanks!!!
Legend. I’m not even interested in this stuff but Marcus you keep it real. Interesting stuff. Thanks so much.
I go through 100’s of videos to learn new techniques or find some inspiration and then finally I found one. Awesome advice for free!! Thax buddy
Happy to help!
You're incredible 😀 Thank you Markus
You're the best teacher, Markus! All of your videos stand the test of time. We are lucky to have your wisdom presented in digestible format and from the source. Thank you for continuing your channel!!
I'm so excited for this video! Thanks Markus!
Excellent explanations in all your videos. Keeping everything accessible for everyone
Thank ya. Thank ya vury much
A good synopsis of setting up backgrounds with loads of lighting tips along with some do"s and don"ts. Markus at his best. (Lampstands included.)
Funny timing - my first backdrop from Kate arrived yesterday! I got the wrinkles out of mine by tossing it in the clothes dryer for 30 minutes with a wet towel. Overall I'm really happy with it, especially for the price.
I AGREE !!
the rocks you placed on the carpet with that desert background really sold the look!
Fun fun video thanks for sharing your story & your beautiful home❤
I've never been involved with anything Mr. Markus other than using the traditional blue/green screens. But I know all the headaches involved and trying to eliminate the outline 'fringing' which our project's was constantly plagued with. Always appreciate your experience's and knowledge... I always love learning different techniques from you.
Hi this is so inspiring such a cool YT photography channel.I am so 😊happy that I found you in the thicket of various content on the Internet. I must admit that my passion for photography has been waning for some time and yours programs correspond perfectly with my approach and awaken my inspiration again, thank you very much, great job
I also found Markus just a few days ago. Such a shame that his high quality content is hidden behind so many trash CZcamsrs, who are screaming for attention and fishing for clicks, while Markus has tons of practical tips and tricks. And you can see he is loving what he is doing. ❤
Looks like Gnome! Awesome. Debian forever.
those sheet backdrops are pretty cool actually. I can't believe the business selling those can keep the lights on.
DUDE! I was running a livestream for Brock Hampton and we built a model of their living room on sunset boulevard. You probably don't remember but you came by and took pictures with all of us. At the time I had no idea that you were such a legend. Thanks so much for being a dude who talks to the people!
Thanks for a great educational overview - as usual - there is more than "meets the eye" behind the scenes- when you are doing pro work. Thanks!
Thank you Markus for the video.. fully loaded tips and info. I love the green out of focus background
Thanks for helping the community. Good stuff.
Good to see you again Markus. Very instructive video. I'm still using black/white backcloths. I'm now rethinking my approach. Thanks.
Your crative spirit goes hand in hand with down-to-earth practicality. That's how you implement your ideas so successfully. It is very enjoyable to watch your demonstrations. (I immediately had to purchase an ultra short throw projector.)
Thanks for this video I have watched it at least 4 times. So much info thank you again
Wonderful Markus please keep doing videos like this one very entertaining and educational (working with projectors)
I went to a dollar store and purchased some cheap green table cloths and used green tape to join them together. Works great!
Davinci resolve's new depth map feature is great for replacing green screens!
BTW, love the things you build!
I've been watching all sorts of youtubers on video trying to learn. I love the focus on getting the job done, not on bragging up high tech gear etc. As a DIY'er so much of this is immediately useful. This one showed me a new use for my short throw projector I got for completely unrelated reasons : )
Hi Markus I feel compelled to thank you for the generosity of your time, knowledge and experience.
Excellent Markus, wow your house is a magnificent place! 😀
AMAZING.... TOO IMPRESSING.NEED TO LEARN ALOT OF FILMING FROM YOU BROTHER❤
Primatte studio is what I use too for my green screen edits, but I suck at using it..... At least 80% of my battles were eliminating shadows. Pretty much solved that problem now so I just need to get better at using the program. I too would prefer to just have a backdrop sometimes, but I love the ability to insert digitally any backdrop I can imagine. That is such a neat thing! Cheers 🍻
I absolutely love your channel. I'm glad I found it! This video really helped. You explain things in terms I understand. Thanks!
Thank you Markus!!! You’re a legend! 😊
Thanks Markus, looks like you need a large house to keep all this stuff! Great video!
7:02 oh I miss Dublin, super cool video
Markus, I like the brown jacket Sir! 👍
Always looking slick and always great tips here.
Cheers 🇬🇧🏆🇺🇲
I had great results with closeup shots in front on a 65" TV screen. Super cheap. I matched the lighting with two simple consumer Philips Hue lights.
Thank you Markus - this was a real joy to watch and I personally learned more about what I usually don’t work with professionally. It’s already inspiring me to create, which is why I sub. Thank you
I just took out some white mdf shelving from the 90's. You would be surprised at how heavy that stuff is.
Amazing as always *Markus* You are so right that green screens are work ;) Love the shots and trailers this video and of course your presentation. I always feel like I'm in a great film class watching your videos.
Thank you Markus. I really liked the cto edge on a person for the green screen
Lytro, the company with the depth sensing(?) cameras that let you adjust the focus of a shot AFTER the photo was taken were getting into the VFX space with film cameras that let you shoot without needing a green screen but they shut down sadly.
That orange light technique kind of blows me away, how have I not seen it til now
I am new to Cinematography and currently going to school for it. I think it's awesome that artists like yourself share their craft!
This video came to me exactly when I needed it! Thanks for the information!
A very good, quick, set of examples to get beyond green screening.... Thank you.
Interesting and informative video. Thanks for sharing!
This is cool stuff. I too go for the real backgrounds, but the fact that you can create nearly everything with the right background is a blast. Great video Markus
Thank you so much for the fantastic video.
This is really excellent. I started at ground zero knowing nothing about how to produce professional looking video. Needing to create quality, individualized backdrops on Zoom, Ive been confused by the range of equipment available online. This will help me sort things out. I see that it doesn't need to be complicated. Once I find lighting that will fit the bill, I'll be good to go. Many thanks!
Thank you very much for that excellent video
Top notch as always.
Awesome as always Markus.
Thanks for the video, Markus. This gives me a good understanding of how all this background stuff works. I enjoy watching your videos.
I need to show this video to my wife every time she complains I buy to many photography equipment :)
very well and entertaining explained
Very fun and informative, and a lot of editing for this masterwork. Thank you. I'm certain I'll watch it more than once!
Bravo! This is not only educational but very fun to watch. ♥😃
Great job! Thanks for
