On "My Car Story" we're in the West Suburbs of Chicago IL on 11-10-21.
We're looking at a 1967 Buick Riviera in Black Paint. The car comes with the 430 CI V8 “Wildcat Power” engine, and an automatic transmission.
The car's Owner is Jaime Reyes. Jaime’s had this car since 2001. He shared he purchased his first Buick Riviera when he was 15 years old from a Teacher at school and has had every Riviera from 1965-1985 throughout his car purchasing career.

The 60s Riveras is one of the best looking designs GM has ever had. Love white letter tires on older cars too. Car looks excellent in all black too !

Lou, this Buick is just terrific. The 60's Riv's designed by Bill Mitchell and Ned Nickles may just be the most handsome of all of the modern American automotive designs. Design, luxury and performance were superb in all aspects. Thank you for this feature and all of the work you do. Your guests are always so proud to share their pride & joys... I for one ALWAYS learn something. 👌

Great car!!! The styling of this Riviera is stunning like a big grand touring body with that fastback design feature, makes this car look very sleek, and yes, very sinister in black!!! What a beauty and I love that the headlights look as if they were an afterthought. It's like the designers got the car finished and said, "uh oh, we forgot the headlights, but don't want to ruin the front appearance so, okay here ya go"!!! Lol. My Mother had a 1966 Wildcat convertible, red with red interior when I was a kid and I remember setting that speedometer alarm thing, I didn't know what it was. Driving down the highway, when it went off, it startled my Dad and I kinda got in trouble!!! Lol. Thanks for sharing that Beautiful Buick!!!

Oh, man! Another amazing post, Lou! I’ve commented on the beautiful profiles of the Firebird and Comaro you have featured recently, but the lines on these Riv’s are just something else! I’m so happy I lived at a time when cars were statements about their owners! I can’t imagine being a teenager today, choosing between a grey CR-V or a silver RAV4. There are no longer any elegant vehicles being produced, simply utilitarian designs.

Hi, Lou! Let's see...every Riviera from '63 to '85...that's 23 different ones he's had (minimum) from six generations that Jaime has owned! I'd say that's a pretty powerful influence and a pretty lasting impression his teacher has had on him!
As for this "sinister" '67, you gotta admire every detail of the styling...the front end contour with the hidden headlamps, the dash with the rotating drum speedometer, the door "handles", the sleek profile, the sweeping rear with the slim taillights, etc. Clearly Bill Mitchell put all his heart and soul and every fiber of his being into this car's design. You also gotta admire how this car moves with authority thanks to that big Wildcat V-8!
Obviously, Jaime and J.J. really would rather have a Buick! Thanks to all of you for taking us through Lou's country in this fabulous flier from Flint! Happy New Year! Looking forward to more amazing car stories in 2022!

Lou, I just bought a '66 Riviera in fall with this same deluxe interior. I was drawn to it by the stunning lines but it also drives fantastic for a car 24 years older than me. By far my favorite car to drive with the windows down as there is no wind buffeting thanks to that flow through ventilation system you touched on. Todays' GM could really really learn a thing or two from these how to design a car with quality interior materials. Interesting to see the Speed Alert as that's where mine sets the cruise control. Can't wait for winter to end so I can take it out for a cruise now!

With 120k miles this Riviera is a great example of a car that has been loved. Aerodynamics and coefficient of drag be dammed with the front end design of that beautiful car. That trunk could hold at least three dead bodies and a great echo in there. I like that the dash includes the amps, temperature, & oil pressure gages. Thanks for showing us this car Lou.

Here we go again. It's uncanny. My father had a 67' Riviera, Silver. All I really remember about that one (I was about 4-5yrs old) is that we went on a trip from Alberta to the Okanagan in British Columbia and on the way home going through Roger's pass, my little brother shit his pants and we had to pull over for mom to clean up the mess. (same black interior as this) I distictly remember (and heard the story many times) of dad standing in front of the car hurling while all the big trucks we just passed drove by honking their horns. hahaha

I was expecting this car to be pretty basic because it wasn't a GS. Big surprise! The owner purchased a really loaded vehicle especially for a 67. The only thing missing was a console but in this case it really didn't matter. I love Rivieras and especially the 67 and 68's. Great find Lou. I was wondering about the poster in the trunk. You covered the jack instructions but failed to even mention the poster.

The 1960’s and 1970’s Rivieras have always had their own little niche in the car design element. It seems like Buick Riviera was the car for GM to express it design innovations, with the extreme ‘Boattail’ design later on. I don’t think I ever knew about the headlights movement. Most cars have only the covers move aside. Thanks Lou, Jamie,, and JJ for a great presentation!

Wow. I have always loved this year Riv. This is a true survivor. GM did not produce a lot of these. True sport luxury. Newer Rivs in the 80s were not as stylish and were fraught with many engine and electrical problems. These earlier models were much easier to work on and didn’t have onboard computers to deal with. This is a true sleek and desirable classic!!

White-letter tires do detract from the usual thin whitewall as presented from the factory. This car has the electro cruise but not the cornering lights that do finish off the front fenders. Overall though, a well-equipped non-GS 1967 Riviera. Many of these made it out of the factory without the power window option box checked which I never understood. Love the great condition and the black on black. Well done!
