Nice to see Hammy doing a bike review. He should mention that the engine shares the same design as the Vmax.

If youre after a fast cruiser check out Hondas Magna 750, v4 and very fast, i can keep up with the top 5 from the local motorbike rideout group. Highly recomended fast cruiser with a bomb proof engine.

I feel the same way about big touring machines but not cruisers . I was raised on two strokes like the Kawasaki a seven S S avenger , Suzuki X six hustler , Yamaha RD two fifty and three fifty and four hundred , Kawasaki triple three fifty and four hundred , Honda CB four hundred F, Yamaha RZ 350, ninja 600, FJ 1200, SECA 550, Moto Guzzi SP 1000, V 50, V 11 sport, Norge, FJ 1200, then I made the switch over to adding a touring bike to my garage at all times along with my other bikes, Yamaha venture royale which I kept for 16 years. BMW K 1200 LT, which was the worst designed motorcycle I ever owned, multi multi flawed. In fact I will never buy another BMW. Yamaha royal star midnight Venture, A Honda GL 1800 Goldwing, which is actually the most perfect thing I ever owned. Just like my toaster, and just as boring. Perfection can be dull, and that’s how I found the Honda GL 1800 Goldwing to be. Dull boring perfection. I currently have a Yamaha royal star Venture, along with my Kawasaki Z 400..
you cannot have two motorcycles close to the same riding position and comfort level because, no matter which one you take out for a long all day ride, after your bum starts to hurt, you always wish you would’ve brought the other bike. So you have to have two or three bikes that are completely different.
As far as cruisers go. I bought a Kawasaki 800 Vulcan one time, because I thought I might be missing the point. I always sneered at cruisers. So I thought I would try one when I found a very clean used one with only 2900 miles on it sitting on a lawn for sale. I bought it in December, then winter hit that very next week and I didn’t get to ride it really until April. Over the winter I added a back rest, a luggage rack with a back rest for passenger, and a windshield.
I was excited to take it out for a ride finally. I made it 24 miles. Sitting in that position like a dog sitting up and begging, put all of my weight on my spine and my tailbone. My feet were out in front of me, where they would do me no good when I saw a bump coming. I couldn’t stand up and let my legs absorb the bump. I wasn’t steering the bike with the palms of my hands, I was turning it like I was driving a car with those Rototiller shaped handlebars. This machine was completely stock except for the accessories I added.
when I got home after that short 24 mile ride, my tailbone/my lower back, felt disjointed. I am mediately put the motorcycle up for sale. That is the shortest ownership of a motorcycle I ever had since 1968, except for the basket Case Kawasaki 500 triple that I bought as a basket case and sold as a basket case.
my body was not built were sitting in that begging dog position with all my weight on my ass with my feet out in front of me..

Cruisers are meant for Long open roads....something they don't have in England. America has big Wide roads, and you need big Wide bikes to ride for DAYS on end.

This is why I own a Royal Star Tour Deluxe. I cruise all up and down the east coast here in the US. I absolutely love riding places like the Appalachian mountain range, and the shore towns during the summer months. Riding from the Washington DC area to the New Jersey shore beaches or south to the North Carolina beaches.
