- With my new Underwater Camera Drone I was able to use my smartphone to position the camera while watching live video of what was happening under the water! I first used the drone to learn new things about one of my favorite fishing spots, then positioned it to watch how fish were reacting to my lure! What I learned watching the underwater action will definitely help me catch more fish on future trips.

Replacement arrived!By the way, I did forget to mention that the original lure did have a decent strike however as most anglers will attest you can get a hit czcams.com/users/postUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 and fish will hang on and release lure. I used the replacement lure yesterday and ran thru a Shimano Waxwing, Kastmaster, Bobber (set to sink). I found the does run deep (I casting on the flats 3.5'). Make sure you adjust your rate of retrieve and rod tip angle (up) to prevent getting snagged on bottom. Used it a couple of times and action was very lifelike (looked like local bait fish for trevally), craftsmanship very good....however eyeball fell out. I asked for replacement and it is on it's way! It was very easy to change out treble to single inline hook.
Can we put this up for some type of CZcams award?? Heck, even a journalist award! This is magnificent content. Skinner always comes with interesting and creative videos. Thanks!
Lol I agree. I feel like I didn’t pay enough for such quality content 😅
As an old retired marine biologist and fisherman, I love when the science shows up in the video. Don't know what you did in your previous life but I would suspect it had something to do with research. You isolate variables as best as possible and that gives it away. Excellent work and thanks.
Good instinct. He was a software engineer !
I wrote experiment control software for a National Lab. So you got it right.
@@JohnSkinnerFishing I could tell when I found your vids a couple years ago. SW Eng here too but to ADD to be hands on at this point in career.
@@JohnSkinnerFishing There was a famous Skinner (B.F. Skinner) who also studied and experimented with behavior. Just not fish behavior... love your vids. Atlantic Highlands, Sheepshead Bay and Captree party boat fisherman here.

14:00 That black Seabass was like :"I see you Skinner, I know it's you"
I’ve been waiting since Florida and you didn’t disappoint…seeing exactly what’s going on below and your commentary gives me a better insight into building the bite and ignoring the other taps
I am an old working engineer and I agree with the old retired marine biologist :) priceless video! very educational and very fun to watch. you are definitely helping me become a better fisherman! thank you!
This is easily the best bottom fishing video we’ve seen locally! Thanks JS!
This video is amazing this helped me so much for black fishing and helped me to tell the difference between a porgy bite and a blackfish bite thank you so much for amazing video
Great video John. I'll never look at black fishing the same again, you really took the guess work out of the game. Thanks!
Thanks for sharing. Your commentary is priceless. You do a great job explaining detail in all of your videos.
That footage was awesome. A surf caster that hasn’t been out in the water he’s fishing could probably use that drone to survey the bottom and locate structure from the shore. It was surprising to see the fluke still there. Thank you for making this video, I always learn something from you.
Holy Moly !!! Stunning footage, excellent content John. Thanks for sharing it with us. Can’t believe how those small fishes are pecking on bait even before it hits the bottom
John, this is the best underwater fishing video I have ever seen. Great job as always.
best underwater black fishing footage i have ever seen, thank you John!
John, outstanding, this is PRECISELY what I experienced on a recent trip on the Western end. With boats all around me giving up and constantly moving around, I stayed on one spot and didn't pester with the rod too much. I used a stiff rod, strong line, tight drag and no slack in the line, to avoid being pulled into rocks. The result: a limit of larger blackfish in under 15 minutes while everyone else was catching shorts. SO YOU ARE SPOT ON WITH THIS VIDEO. WELL DONE!
Thank you so much. You really go out of your way to help us understand these concepts. Blackfishing is a whole different ball game.
Thank you Mr Skinner. You have pushed me to make this purchase. I to have a fascination of whats under water
There he goes! haha. I do a fair amount of underwater stuff myself and people really just can't appreciate how hard it is to get the shots you're after. I've spent 2 years trying to get a big sheepshead to eat a jig on camera. Great stuff!!
Most educational fishing video by the master. Thanks John Skinner!!!!
You have excellent footage in your past videos but this is the best by far!!!! Loving the new set up!
John,
Great video! I'm amazed at the grate footage you were able to get to share. Thanks for taking the time to make this video.
John , AWESOME!!! we need more of these!! I love these under water videos.
john great video! this is the perfect video for instruction for beginners who don't know how to wait thru the taps before setting the hook. 2 of my children are both avid fishermen like their dad and this is the perfect way to illustrate the message. keep em coming... dan from LI
Thanks for the great Content John, this video gave me a whole new perspective on Blackfish fishing. I used to set the hook to early and loose a lot of fish, after understanding their behavior more I did much better out there.
Love the underwater video angle of this. The camera angle really shows what's going on very well.
Best fishing video ever!! Also a great way to find a great fishing spot
Well done, your perseverance paid off. I like how you show some of the humbling hurdles before getting to this point as well. The footage and your commentary are both revealing and reinforcing, so thank you. I agree with your observation on lifting the jig too much, crazy that this was seemingly a slower day from up top, I think you will even notice differences in the blackfish behaviour later in the season after the porgies and other interference fish leave, that is if you are still around in November... Looking forward to your future experiments with this and how you overcome the new hurdles that go along with them
Great stuff. Fun to see what goes on down there. Even diving and spear fishing you don’t get a sense of what happens without us spooking the fish into their holes. I wish our water clarity was as good off DelMarVa but it rarely is.
That’s Awesome, John!!! Really Cool footage! Very educational.
Great video John!! Helpful to see what's going on down there.
Great video loving those underwater videos. I learned a lot about there feeding habits and i knowing when to set the hook.
Thanks John..
Great footage! Reinforces “patience”!
Hey John...
Thank you for this most insightful video!!!!
Interesting, fun and educational!!!💜
That looks like an aquarium!
It's crazy, because I used to think there was nothing much going on down there in these northeastern waters.
John, first of all I love all your content. This video hit home with me. I have taken similar footage. I first started with a GoPro rigged on a parachute cord and a heavy weight to pull it down. That worked in low current calm water similar to this footage. Now I use a GoPro on 28’ telescopic pole and as long as the current isn’t too strong the video is very stabile and a amazing.
Spectacular editing and documentation!! Technology and fishing, perfect.
Great job as usual. Wish I still had my boat. I used to enjoy black fishing. I'd grab Asian crabs at the local beach under rocks. Western long island sound for me.
Thank you John, nice footage and narration👍🏻
Unbelievable footage John!
john this is simply tremendous! WOW heading out tomorrow, now I won't be able to sleep tonight!
This answers so many questions! Patience definitely rules the day!
Worth its weight in gold. Thanks so much for this!
That was AWSOME! Mind-blowing footage. Great job
That is so intense! I mean the amount bites on that jig is incredible. Great video John as always. Thanks
Useful information presented with a sensible commentary free of egotistical 'dramatics'.
Fantastic video. Thanks for sharing John.
what a great video. I learned a lot watching this. Always wanted to see how fish reacted.
I leaned a lot about black fishing thanks. I know you have to be smart to catch them because they are very smart.
Amazing footage John! Thanks
Wow! Surprising & marvelous! Finally an answer to the fisherman’s constant question. What is going on down there? Very cool. Thank you for a great video.
Great video, totally different than what I thought was happening down there.
This reinforces my thoughts how cheap/easy rig would catch those porgies. As a "porgy hunter" - small jig or just a hook with a sinker somewhere- with a whatever bait (preferably something tough). No need to overcomplicate things.
This is fantastic. I would love to see a side by side with the video synchronized.
This is seriously top quality content!!
John, that was amazing! Thank you
Always an inspiration Mr Skinner Thanks for sharing your knowledge and Adventures.
Great footage! So cool to see this perspective.
Great job John. Lessons learned 👍🏿
Excellent underwater video, learned a lot from it! Thank you
John, you are a class act! Love what you post.
The new fish Finder 😆
Beautiful quality
Thank you
That underwater video is the bomb hope to see more of it
this is great. my old man used to do a crab part chum bag with a 10oz weight. let it rest and then fish! :-)
John, you work hard and go through a lot to ultimately obtain this super quality content. Just phenomenal, and Emmy worthy! Thanks.
Thanks Leon. Two days prior I shot three hours of total crap with the other camera. This worked a lot better.
This is amazing video. Nobody else does things like this.
Love the video good stuff Skinner you are the best
Awesome underwater video been fishing to the west of you this video makes things a lot clearer having similar actiion surprised no blow fish must have gotten 20 of them between last few trips and a few fluke also thanks for sharing 👍
Fascinating stuff. Thanks for the education !
Nice video! What a competition for a bait between many spices!
This is the coolest video i have ever seen related to north east fishing
Great video John - very informative!
This by far has to be the coolest video I have ever seen I was in awe the entire time.
I told him the exact same thing!
@@johnsweeney1400 John you make me feel famous responding to my comment haha I am honored. Watching this further reassures that as long as you are getting some type of small taps or whatnot at a spot right away usually there is blackfish there not all of the time but a lot of the times.
I like “thing” for the unit - ha ha ha - “I’m waiting for the thing to pull up it’s camera”
Very cool stuff! Amazing
Your underwater videos are the best!
This is one of the most informative one yet
Thanks to your video, I have a better understanding of the situation at the bottom of the sea!
Fargin awesome...thank you!
Man what epic footage sir! Thank you 🙏🏼
Wow, great great video. It's a very informative and educational video as well as fun to watch. Now I know better how they clean my bait each time :)
Two days ago, I finally got out in the sound from the Ct. Side in my kayak. I caught 4 keeper Blackfish on your jigs. On both Asian and green crabs. I just wanted to Thank you for the education of how to do it!!! I will be going back out tomorrow. Hopefully with the same or better results.
John, this video was more anticipated than Bond's newest "No Time to Die". Think it even gives Top Gun 2 a run for its money.
Great video Skinner👍🏻👍🏻🏁🏁🎣🎣
I was Surprised to hear of the video latency considering the hard wired connection.
Great job! That was super fun and interesting!
Fishing with crabs like that was my grandfather's and is my father's favorite way of fishing. Is a snapper killer where I'm from.
In your long history of great and informative videos this my be the best one. Amazing.
I’d like to see you use this at the Matlacha bridge. The West end of the bridge on the North side. Also, up by the draw/fender.
I’ll keep an eye out for you on the water. 👍
Down in the Cape May area I've found that unpainted jig heads produced less attention from fish other than tog. I end up losing less bait and catching more tog.
Such an awesome video you never disappoint sir please keep up the exquisite work!!
This is amazing!! And a spot lock drone!!
Eye opener. Thanks for the education as usual
Wow, Fantastic footage! I looked it up in Amazon and price is very fair compared to others that are up to $3000 plus.
That wonderful video answered a handful of questions but created 50 more questions
That Blackfish on the left is like "hows it goin"
Very nice John.
You make the best content. Great video
I believe I'm one of your first subscribers ever on You Tube - I'm from Patchogue and fished Moriches bay back in the 80's and 90's - My friend and I literally changed the game by fishing spinning rods and bucktails vs the conventional rods with heavy sinkers. It's been fantastic to watch your growth and journey. THANK YOU. Should you ever want to fish Chokoloskee/10,000 islands whilst your in Florida I would be happy to take you. There are times in the winter that we catch 15-20 different species in the same day! My friend Scott and I have been fishing there for 6 years now and know dozens of spots
I've taken my kayak to chokoloskee a couple of times. Cool place for sure.
I wonder if you put some sorta bungie in between the drone and camera if that would stabilize the camera when the water is choppy
That is so cool!! Great video.
Beautiful video thank you!
