    This is an awesome video thanks so much. I wasn't looking forward to doing my 93 4runner, but now I think I am ready. Thanks bro.

    8 years in and still a super handy resource. Thanks man. I just took the plenum off today, gonna get to the covers tomorrow. Out of curiosity, are you a fan of silicone line to replace the vacuum hoses? 260k miles, couple of nasty cracks, the pcv hose was completely petrified and broke in half when I lived the manifold off.

    Im doing the rear cam seals as well. Much easier to do when plenum and valve covers are off. They leak worse than the valve covers on my 3vze.....

    To do plug #5, passenger side rear, take out the canister. Two bolts, three hoses. Still won't be able to see the plug but it can be reached.

    great video I'm a 3vze not to many hahaa I have had my second one now for 6 months and have been trying to figure out these vacuum hoses I'm completely stumped it's almost as if there's extra. Beasically if you wouldn't mind doing a vacuum hose routing video I would very much appreciate it been all over the web getting diagrams I have been to Toyota themselves and they can't figure it out right. Thanks again either way hope all is going well -Dom

    Is that a long metal socket set going from the positive battery post to the negative ?

    • @Makswerks1
      @Makswerks1  Před 6 lety

      its a socket rail. If it had touched it would have been bad. Don't do what I do.

    if oil was leaking from a valve cover, would that cause some smoking from that leaked out oil burning on the engine?

    • @Makswerks1
      @Makswerks1  Před 7 lety

      If oil drips on the headers it will def smoke/catch fire, and that's bad.

    any plans of doing head gasket job? seems to be a common issue with these yet no good how youtube videos

    • @Makswerks1

      No need for that project. Its long gone.

  • @wheezin_mtnbkr3576
    @wheezin_mtnbkr3576 Před 8 lety

    Great video! I jusr did this job, and it resulted in....a leak...the drivers side still leaks despite rtv in the fsm specified locations. Used fel pro as you did. Cannot figure it out.

    • @Makswerks1
      @Makswerks1  Před 8 lety

      Ya. Use RTV, torque to spec.

    • @wheezin_mtnbkr3576
      @wheezin_mtnbkr3576 Před 8 lety

      +MaksWerks I did exactly what you did, except I did not put rtv between the gasket and the cover, nothing in the fsm specified doing that. Maybe thats why? I put my 8 beads where specified in the manual. Dont have a tq wrench but i went palm tight with a quarter inch ratchet, most would consider that "loose".

    • @Makswerks1
      @Makswerks1  Před 8 lety

      Ya you have to put down a smooth layer all the way around, and put a little extra in those spots. then tighten it pretty tight without stripping screws.

      @wegotflames6380 Před 3 lety

      Needs the round cam seals on back of head replaced also..... those need done same time as valve cover gaskets. Out of sight, out of mind for most newbies.....

  • @thotforce

    Cool video ! thanks for sharing ! can i ask.... Torque specs for plenum bolts ? Did you gasket glue the plenum gasket (paper gasket) ? Thanks :)

    • @Makswerks1
      @Makswerks1  Před 4 lety +3

      Just turn it until snug, add a little, and make a click noise with your mouth :)
      JK. this was too long ago for me to remember torque specs.

    How did you disconnect the fuel pressure regulator without fuel going everywhere?

    • @Makswerks1
      @Makswerks1  Před 7 lety +2

      Couple of options.
      1. Disconnect connection at fuel filter and get gas on your arm.
      2. pull fuel injection fuse/relay and crank the engine a few times

    • @killstrees
      @killstrees Před 7 lety

    Might as well adjust those stupid spacered valves while you're at it.
