      As long as I feed it the fluid, all is good. Leaks so bad, it almost needs an IV.

    Great video!! First time here Well believe I have same problem I have 3 5 an 6 no compression but sure mine has jumped time so don't know what's gonna happen yet. You definitely have some sweet rides there I love those little Datsun trucks run for ever and also 7.3 power stroke. I had steering pump squall and leak on a ranger put Lucas ps stop leak in and it stopped leak and quieted the pump. Thanks for sharing be safe have fun enjoy

    Super helpful info! I would say that if you leave out the beginning where you were moving your trucks around it might help viewers see just how useful your diagnosis was! I almost exited the video because the first 5 minutes aren't helpful. Thanks for the information and good luck!

    Valve seats riding into the head is common on 3VZ made in north America. I grinded down the shim on top of the bucket until the valve sealed and ran it like this for more than 20,000 miles without any issues. If you want to help stop this from happening in the future, change the headers and get rid of that cross over pipe behind the motor. Its the worst design Toyota did on any of their motors

    • @ProjectTimeGarage
      @ProjectTimeGarage  Před 8 měsíci +1

      Yeah, I Toyota did make a mistake on this design. Overall though, they have been really good on most everything else.

    Any updates on this project? My 3VZE has zero compression on Cyl#1, so am very interested in what you found.

    • @ProjectTimeGarage
      @ProjectTimeGarage  Před rokem +1

      Yeah, the project has had a few complications - mainly extremely long lead times for parts and machine shop service. I have both heads off. In my case, the loss of compression was two burned vavles and eroded valve seats. I had both heads redone. I just received them back from the machine shop 2 weeks ago. Finally getting ready to reassemble.

  • @bernardayala1128
    @bernardayala1128 Před 3 měsíci

    The timing is not right. It is supposed to be 5 degrees before 0. I had a similar problem where they set it to 0 degrees and it ran like crap. The timing is set to oil pump and crank sprocket marks which relates to 5 degrees before top dead 0 degree mark on the cover. The belt is off by one tooth.

    Voltage regulator bad on Shelby

    • @ProjectTimeGarage
      @ProjectTimeGarage  Před rokem +1

      Yeah, unfortunately the voltage regulation is handled by the Power Module unit, and controlled by the SMEC.

  • @bernardayala1128

    Whoever set the timing wrong damaged the valves!

      No worries. Also fyi, there is a little slider at the bottom of the screen that lets you move around in the video. You can skip any parts you don't like.
