- We ran across a 1994 Toyota 4Runner that has no compression on 2 cylinders. It's rough, a little ratty, has major engine problems and it's PERFECT!! Let's diagnose the problem.

I just bought a 1993 on a whim two weeks ago...trying to dig up as much info as I can....I paid significantly more than you did....will be following! Thanks
Cool. They tend to hold value pretty well.
In my neck of the woods these model 4 runners in good shape ready to drive 1500 to 2000 it’s a good body style nobody wants them because of the 3vze
I think that's about what they go for around here too.
I've been binge watching your channel for a few days. love the content. keep up the great work
Thanks for watching man, that's what actually counts in the end. I appreciate it very much!
Enjoy your videos!! Have a cool place. Well never know what your gonna get when you buy a vehicle. I just bought a 89 Toyota DLX 4x4 3.0 engine 5speed have same problem but number 6 cylinder no compression along with 3 and 5 I know nothin about 3.0 engine. But believe I will learn from you. Thanks for sharing be safe have fun
Thanks for watching!!
18:45 “I was wrong one other time”. But, that was only because I was mistaken about being wrong, I was actually correct.😂 Great video! 😊 I also watched the follow up one to this. I’m hoping you get a chance to film how you wrap up things with this 4 Runner. Thanks for your content! Subscribed!
Thanks!! Both heads are off it currently, they are at the machine shop. Hopefully I'll have them in a week or so. Then it's back to work on it.
Awesome, I'd like to see big foam and fiberglass fenders
Pretty sure something like that will happen.
Loved the Fourwalker! $700? Good deal for a fixer upper kinda guy & channel. Seats seem a mystery to me. Maybe valve vent, broken or burnt. Looking forward to the next video on this vehicle Brian!
Yeah, the seats are a mystery. Il probably remove the covers from the rear just to check.
@@ProjectTimeGarage That may answer many questions.
My luck it'll just raise more questions.
You can get a gone through 3.4L V6 5VZ-FE for less than $700 these days. Throw it in and send it. A running 4runner will bring good money!
Thanks for the info, I appreciate it
I'm 3.4 swapping my 95 4runner atm can't wit to hear it fire up first time
The box in the back ead your rear spleaker enclosure
Thanks!
Hey that’s my old 4 runner lol
Yep, sure is
Mine is a '91 that I got for $100. Had a knock but the interior is immaculate. Guess I lucked out.
Yep, you did very well indeedl
Cheating on the pathfinder are we? Imma tell
I keep one covered so they never see each other.
Anytime you get an older Toyota to work on, you have me locked.
Thanks, the 2 Toyotas I have should keep me busy for about a decade.
Hey What causes a backfire and rough idling on this type of vehicle. I changed the spark plugs, fuel filter, distributor cap and wires, ignition coil. The compression test is good, the injectors are working, the only thing left is the mass airflow sensor I believe?! The spark plugs read like it's running too rich and not getting enough air.
It sounds like you have a vacuum leak
Soo soo many things could cause it. Vacuum leak would be my first thought too. THere are a ton of vacuum lines that get cracks over the years. I would start there. Quick Google search for "Find Vacuum leak with Brake Cleaner". THat's the way I've always done it.
That’s a good buy on that 4 runner.
I thought so too. It'll probably cost more than it's worth to get it right again though.
I have a six cylinder,no compression on 2 of cylinders on one bank none in 2 on other bank, any thoughts? Could it be timing or would see similar numbers all way across the board ,please help 😅
Really without doing a leakdown test, it's gonna be tough to diagnose for sure. When there's absolutely no compression on a cylinder or two, it's usually either a valve that's not closing, or a gaping hole in a piston. Either way, a leakdown test will tell you all you need to know. I covered doing the test in this video: czcams.com/video/BaHobMTiNXg/video.html somewhere around the 15:00 mark or so.
Enter Project 4stumbler!
Yep. Stumbling along like the rest of my "fleet"
Help! I have an engine misfire P0300 and I put in new plugs , wires , coils , and it’s still misfiring. I went to harbor freight purchased a compression test kit and my compression from cylinder 1,3,5,2 were 119-120psi, cylinder 4&6 were 140-142 psi. I know that the compression test for these engines are supposed to be 174psi or more? I know my compression is low but What am I dealing with here? Can anybody please help me figure out the next step?😊
That 119-120psi number may be a culprit. Thise things are notorious for burned exhaust valves.
Hey is anyone out there can plz help me my 94 Toyota 4runner automatic transmission 6cly motor the 4x4 stop working some told me this system works by vacuum but I got no idea can someone plz give a idea how to check or fix it plz
I'll try to help. I believe that system is actuated by vacuum. The first thing to do is find the vacuum hose that runs from the engine bay to the hubs. Unfortunately there are a LOT of vacuum lines and most of them look the same. The very best thing you can do is spend some time with Google to locate a picture of that line, either that or buy a service manual, which will show the layout of the lines.
Oh btw that’s a new exhaust
Cool, glad to know.
where the pathfinder at
It had to become my daughter's temporary daily driver. She just finished with it, so I'm back on it.
too bad it's not a 22re.

Just a sucker for a pretty (dented) face.
Lol, all my pretty faces are dented
Sounds like a diesel.
Feels like a blender.
Hi. Brother sell me that conquest 🙏.
Hmmm, gotta hang on to that one.
Yes I imagine that, just had to ask, enjoy that machine.
Why you bought it is all you gonna do is baby cry and point out everything bad.
