How We Turned Cardboard into Cash with Incredible Profit Margins! ♻️💰

  • 📦💪 This week, we got a last-minute call from a 3rd party junk removal company. They needed us to remove a massive amount of cardboard ASAP. It was a challenging task, but we tackled it with enthusiasm! The best part? Cardboard removal jobs have great profit margins! ♻️💰 We were able to recycle the cardboard and make some serious cash. I always make sure to charge per load on these and negotiate well, so I don't end up working for free.
    It's a win-win situation for both the store, which needs it done right away, and our business, which profits accordingly. It always helps to have some manpower to call, that way, the job wraps up quickly and doesn't drag on! Just another day in the dumpster business!

    $1,800 sounds like a great pay day! We always try to "stick" it to the 3rd party companies. We usually get a few "emergency" snow plow jobs from them every winter. They never take our standard rate but always end up calling during the storm and pay a premium.

    I hope the loose cardboard is worth it my area. I have started saving a whole bunch of cardboard once I get the scrap metal sold that’s sitting in my trailer I’ll start loading the loose cardboard. Hoping I can make it worth my time(right now don’t have much effort into it) but would love to get an enclosed trailer for it. I need to find my local businesses and see who has balers and who don’t so I can get the businesses that don’t have balers cardboard. Hopefully it’ll be worth it…..cuz my wife sure doesn’t think it’s worth it. Honestly I’m not sure either yet….but if I can get a lot more of it other than just from where I work. And if I can afford a cardboard baler eventually! Cha-Ching!! Every where I read online says baled is worth more $$$

    What business doesn't have bailer for cardboard? In a mall type setting, there is usually one bailer that several businesses share.

    • @rollingops
      @rollingops  Před 11 měsíci +1

      If I had a 40 ft trailer maybe. But they had too much mixed trash, would of pissed off the recycling place, they wouldnt let us sit there empting it either, because its hard to find a 40 ft tilt trailer with a good dump angle.

    Do you have a paper plant within a reasonable distance from you? Reason I ask is I'm in the pallet business and I know some of my competitors pick up cardboard as well and sell it to a paper plant across the street from a pallet yard I deal with. Last I'd heard this plant was paying around $200 a ton but I could've been lied to, never know. That would be an even better deal than free dumping lol. How much did the weight total up to?

    Never feel guilty about negotiating a price with the middleman. Lucky you can find good people to team with, around here it's a nightmare. The last time I had to haul that much cardboard I charged 800 which is what the volume of trash would have cost at the time. Today I would assume you charged double that amount.

    Find a recycling center that will pay for the loose cardboard. Market isn’t that great right now but in a strong market it might pay for the fuel putting more money in your pocket. With the extra money buy a blackjack tire repair kit, they are heavy duty. I keep one in all of my trucks. Enjoyed the video as always, keep it up.

  • @davidjohnson5162

    You said they offered $300 and you did it for double the offer so $600. Per load minus the over head, help, fuel, trucks etc. so at $1,800. Less the overhead your profit (net) I would guess to be would be something between $800 and $1,100 depending on distance to recycle station. But my biggest question is why did you use the dumpster on site for the trash? You were paid by the load, even if it only took half of the 20 yard box it’s a load. Additional $600.00 to take it to a transfer or landfill or off load into another half full dumpster. Regardless, great video and great profit for a few hours work.

    Hey man just curious to what it says the capacity of cargo should not exceed on your trailer I was looking at a bumper pull version at my local dealer and it said no more than 8680 lbs from my understanding that means that trailer without the bin weighs 5,320 lbs in which I think is kinda crazy if the trailer is only rated for 14k

    Man, if you get enough jobs like this is might be worth your while in getting a cardboard baler. Then you could sell the cardboard for additional revenue. If youre handy enough you could make one with a hydraulic cylinder and a couple of hoses. Just power it off of the auxiliary attachment on one of your machines.

      Yep, but there are some restrictions we have to deal with third party jobs. and we still knocked it out faster than I could of gone out to my shop, hauled my skid back. Then, he hauled it back there. The landfill is also farther away. So I would of had to go there too, if we didn't sort the trash out as well. So at the end of the dayyyy. Still would of rather did it the way I had. But I know what you mean. And appreciate you!

    1 25 yard rear loader would have handled that whole job. One-trip. Third- party must have been raping the customer for the price to be stepped on so many times. You have to be careful with cardboard some places won't take a lot because of the overseas cardboard has a black tar that's attached.
