    Do you have any advice on how to help prospects see the value of SEO? It's hard to say to them "Give me $5000, and after a year it'll pay off". I've tried comparing it to growing a CZcams channel, but this doesn't always work.

      You have to use data. Do some keyword research and get search volume data. Then calculate how much CTR they'de get if they're ranking #1 (~30%). From there, you'll know the estimated traffic. Then you'll calculate the average conversion rate (1-5% for most websites). Lastly, estimate the AOV (average order value) or LTV (lifetime value) of a customer. From there, you can get a ballpark idea of ROI

    Do you have any recommendations on niching down in a small market? I'm building a SEO agency in Switzerland (German speaking part). However, compared to the US, Swiss cities are just so small, almost no search traffic online. Like my hometown has 20 searches/month for SEO Agentur Zug and we're ranking on position 3. That's why I'm wondering if I should even niche down, as the german speaking part in Switzerland is already a niche in itself.
    Btw, I great book, helped me a lot!

    • @nathangotch
      @nathangotch  Před 7 měsíci +1

      Happy to hear that! Honestly, I'd still niche down because at least you'll know for sure if it isn't viable. The good news is that you can always expand out. Execute, learn, and adapt

    I was glad I watched the video.
    On the one hand, it's sad that there is so much junk in the SERP. On the other hand, I appreciate Nathan's perspective on Google just muddying the waters.
    One can't rely on every piece of advice that is put out there.
    The bottom line is to create helpful content, that is right to the point and ideally better than others'.
    IMHO, SEO isn't going anywhere in 2024.

  • @nmr20067

    I wasn’t going to watch it at first. I was like, the video is too long! But I’m glad I didn’t listen to myself. Once I started listening, I was hooked in. Great interview, Nate. I agree what you said about all of these updates. Google at this point is just trying to muddy the waters and shake things up and frustrate SEOs. Even so called “white hat” websites are not safe. Google makes zero from SEO. Their shareholder value depends on people buying ads. And you are right, it has not made the results better…..

    I feel like Google is in a symbiotic relationship with publishers though. It would only take one small “do not crawl” on every website to cripple them. Like a mass boycott. Seems they have no choice but to leave a ray of hope to publishers to be found, rather than just scraping their data directly. They would instead have to scrape directly from social media, eliminating blogs entirely, and we would just migrate to social SEO. I guess.

    As AI becomes a prominent source of information, traditional Google searches may diminish in importance, leading to the decline of conventional SEO. However, local SEO will continue to be in demand. Users are likely to rely more on AI than Google, and while blogging may decline, it is expected to persist within news agencies in the foreseeable future.

    SEO is dying day by day. But some SEO experts try to believe other people that SEO will exist forever. So they teach other people and earn money. So promote SEO and earn money

      The more people who leave the SEO world behind, the better it is for those who still believe in it and see opportunities.
