MATLAB Simulation of a Bidirectional Battery Circuit Using Buck/Boost Converter.

  • In this video, i have explained the MATLAB simulation of a bi-directional battery circuit using buck/boost converter. During battery charging the circuit works as buck converter and during dis charge it works as a boost converter. I have also explained the current controller used in the simulation.

    Sir if i have to put pv array application as a dc source input to charge and discharge a battery then what are the perimeters (mathematical modelling) required for pv array for this battery using buck-boost !

    For those who get the nagetive current results, just check if your scope observes Ibat or Ibat1. should be Ibat.

    Sorry, sir. I have a question. In calculating converter capacitance(C), I calculate capacitance(C) it's 208 uF, not 20 uF. Is my calculation error?

      Designers choice based on the application. As a thumb rule i took the values

    how to find the values of p PI and the value of limitations 0 - 0.95?

      Vripple, i ripple are designer's choice, there are some thumb rules, based on that i chose values.
      PI tuning include many things, cant just explain it here.
      set duty equal to 1 make the switch always ON, and circuit will not work properly. so i chose a value less than 1, that is 0.95

    why you add RC in parallel with Voltage source ?

      not required, since it is a stiff voltage source. but in practical scenario, we need to have bus capacitacne in either side. so i put, RC, and R is the esr of cap

    In my model if I put constant value as 30 in Ibat1 in display it shows -30 and voltage remains same when I put -30 as constant it displays 30 in Ibat1 voltage starts reducing can you tell me what's the problem in my model?

      The battery notations are reversed. In control logic, Ibat is used and while scoping the response Ibat1 is used, that's why it is showing negative.
