Part three of the Nightwing Training series explores a core workout that Dick Grayson might use for his Nightwing/Batman training. I go into depth explaining the different muscle groups that make up the core, and why it's not enough (by far!) to just do sit ups. Learn how to develop rotation strength, greater stability, and much more by training your rectus abdominis, transverse abdominis, obliques, and erector spinae!
The word 'core training' is overused and has been sullied. But while standing on a balance board and curling bands won't do much, building real stability and power in your core will have carry-over for every other calisthenics move, for parkour, for martial arts, and for big lifts.
If you want a Nightwing workout or a Batman workout to help you move like Dick Grayson, then you NEED to think about your core training.

This training series is really powerful, functionality and strength at their best
I would also think that Nightwing would do some of the freerunning styles of training, as he looks like he is always jumping over objects and walls as the free runners do. Great video!

Nightwing is so awesome and SO IS TGIS CHANNEL!! I go with p90x for my core. Ab ripper, core synergistic, and yoga! I find my biggest challenge is back and hip flexibility. Can we get a nightwing vid on that subject too? Love it all!
Yes, That would be great! A video focused on Nightwing's flexibility and elasticity and how to train in those areas for fighting and other functional movement.

No honestly I already do these exercises everyday (with a rotation of different sections of the core to exercise throughout the week).
I pretty much do these because I already train for parkour and I’ve been incorporating some stuff from gymnastics into my workout.
The only difference is now I know I’m doing the right thing. So thanks for confirming my routine, now I need to keep at it.

I wouldn’t say that, just fortunate. I live in a time where a lot of CZcamsrs (like you) that provide helpful information that gives me a basis of where to start. And because of that my progress in fitness has drastically improved.
Also if you have the time (or haven’t read yet) there’s a wonderful book called Parkour Strength Training: Overcome Obstacles for fun and Fitness by Ryan Ford and Ben Mushholt. Wonderful book on different conditioning for parkour also Ryan Ford has a CZcams channel as well.
Has anyone looked into if Batman has undergone any gene editing procedures? With Batman being the most intelligent man on earth, I find it highly probable that he could have easily created his own gene editing technology, that is similar to CRISPR, in order for the bat family to obtain extremely high bone density, greater muscle size, better flexibility, improved recovery, less resistance to disease, increased intelligence/memory, prevent/reverse aging, enhanced vision etc...
That would partly explain his ability to endure such gruesome training and fierce combat as well as his incredible mental feats. Theoretically, we could all be Batman.
He could but id say it more due to intense training look at the shaolin monks
jashard wallington Right, but Batman’s physical feats are on par with the strongest men on earth, and that can only be obtained through drug use. The shaolin monks are amazing, but they aren’t even close to Batman’s level of fitness and skill.

Thanks for great knowledge and advice! One thing I want to ask is what do you think of lumbar flexion. In the Internet, people cite Dr Stuart McGills about the issues with lumbar flexion. I think this is a bit weird though. They suggest that you should never flex your lumbar spine. I will continue research but I wanted to know what you think.

By far the best twisting lift is the jammer twist. Do a set of 20 with 2x25kg plates and you will have an incredibly strong core. Just remember to lower slowly on the way down, after you’ve exploded up.
If you are also wealthy, tech savy & trained to fight then i might just accuse you of being batman like others. Your not afraid to learn & experiment as well as teach. Love the open minded intellect & passion.

Nailed it with lowering the baby down into the crib. I dont think anything has challenged my abdominal stability more than getting kids in and out of car seats.
Carrying those car seats is an absolute nightmare!! Especially because Emmy is an 11kg six month old lol!

have you ever thought about engaging your hamstrings during hip/knee flexion exercises. it is the opposite notion of a squat so shouldn’t they be involved in some degree?

hey bioneer are you familiar with Phil Daru? He trains ufc fighters he incorporates a lot of weighted ball throws, different types of box jumps ans why the different types. also some cognitive training and goes over an extensive warmup to activate all the muscles you are going to need. Hes got a great youtube channel

A combination of books, the web, friends, and trial and error! I’m also studying a personal training course and use a psychology degree. I’ve got a vid on the way sharing some of my top books about training so hopefully that might help :-)

They’re also good for building core muscles but also coordination. In parkour training I’ve known plenty (including myself) that have used it to help them with conditioning to help with our vaults to overcome obstacles.

A thing about Nightwing that only few people realize is that he became *perfectly* ambidextrous.

@@sophiefilo16 Any comics or animation. He isn't have a right/left side in his fighting style. He exchange his footwork from left foot on front to inverse, several times in a single confront, easily.
The most of martial artists (including me) have a "preferred side" to start, he don't.
Deathstroke do the same thing (on comics, not the guy on Arrow TV show).
I liken that to Batman training everybody to fight with both sides to make them more versatile. When Dick is doing other things (writing, opening doors, picking things up, etc), he shows preference to his right side...
