My Minecraft minigame server has some... balance issues. In this devlog I fix 'em up real good, and make my evil bedwars game actually fun to play! Episode 2 of making a minigame server from scratch to rival hypixel. My first minigame, "Evil Bedwars" (working title), is well underway and almost ready for playtesting!

Idea for curse:
Your health regens slower,
Less hp,
Slowness,
Make them unable to buy better swords or a certain type of upgrade,
A tnt explodes on everyone over time

Ideas for curses:
You take double fall damage
You can't pick up gold or iron (would force people to store at least a little bit)
Your inventory gets randomized every 2 mins
Anvils dropping on the players head
Slowness/weakness/levatation
Sprinting inverts your movement

Every tick spent walking gives you a X% chance to trip, and you get a really passive-aggressive message and get slowed dramatically.
You have regions and Inventory checks to make the player give callouts like, “I’m going to mid,” and “I have a diamond sword!”

The player gets relentlessly followed and bumped by a small crab to subtly reference my username in a way that you won’t notice!
Make axes behave like swords and swords behave like axes (if it’s 1.18)
Obvious things like slowness and weakness
A plant growing on the players head that as it grows bigger will randomly make the player jump, drop weapon, or turn around.
I hope you like the large block of text that is extremely daunting and not tempting to read.
In all seriousness, I think that passive-aggressive curses will make this a richer “worse bedwars”

I have put a lot of thought into how I could make Minecraft more agonizing
Legitermoose turning into Devlog Channel. Also bring back elytra, it’s not a big problem when people go out of bounds, in fact, going out of bounds is fun.
Curse: Death Loop
Whenever you die, you lose all your valueable items, but you spawn at the place before you died
I love the idea, your personality, videos and your way of demonstrating points
This is looking really cool man! I thought the blood idea was cool, but it does make sense to cut it (pun) since it'd be hard to make it work well. I do have to admit the decay idea looks cooler, too (especially with those sick looking islands for gathering materials).
As for curse ideas, I was initially thinking something that prompted more choice (like faster island decay), but, after looking at the other comments, I have to agree that more passive-aggressive and/or comical curses would be the way to go. Maybe one of the curses could replace your helmet with a curse of binding pumpkin?
Another idea, though I'm not sure how good it is, would be to replace the cursed players' armor with a set of curse of binding hot pink leather and their helmets with a curse of binding end rod. It would deny them usage of their armor upgrades, leaving them at a disadvantage (especially late game). Furthermore, it would make them stand out way more and make stealth less of an option. Overall though, I would really just like to laugh at the people cursed to dress like unicorns. You could even display messages taunting them when they get cursed. Thanks for reading (sorry for the block of text).

Idea for curse:
1. Cannot die of void
2. Lag (basically make the player occasionally teleport back to his position 1 second ago)
3. Get lightning bolted when hit
4. Speed randomized
5. Ice physics
6. Legitimoose jumpscare
7. Can only by concrete powder in the shop instead of wool

as a curse it could be that some items in your inventory like materials or resources (or just random stuff) slowly disappear until the curse is lifted
edit: there could also be one where you are unable to heal

Idea for curse: regen is off, and your inventory slots dissapear until only like 12 slots remain (item that get removed from those dissapeared slots will return in your inventory)
Curse Ideas:
Intermittent blindness effect
Randomly teleport to a nearby safe block
Nausea effect
Randomly have a vex spawn on the same team as the uncursed

I think the curse is a great idea but don't make them effect pvp too much. We don't want to make it impossible to fight the defenders of the control point
I have been waiting for it for so long...
i know this isn't really a curse and you told to comment ideas for curses but what if instead of removing the elytras altogether, you add sort of a "battery" mechanic and here's my idea on how it could work.
1. making it so after flying for 5-10 seconds you fall slowly and have to go back to the ground to recharge
2. instead of just going back to the ground to recharge you had to go to home base and it would recharge but you can use the elytra for more time
3. after using the elytra for either 60 seconds straight or using the elytra more than 3 times you had to go to one of the crystals on the diagonals of the map

Late to the party (kinda) but here is an idea for the curse:

fatigue
can't break a bed if it saved their lives
taking extra damage from hits (sword or punch)
does less damage from hits (sword or punch)
If you can buy a curse for maybe like really expensive (maybe) someone can buy one as a splash potion or something like that and put it on a specific person, not really the main idea though
Make a curse that makes it take 1 full heart to get 1 blood

Faster Emeralds
The emerald gen timer shortens faster.
Which means you can get more emeralds, but that also means the surrounding area will be destroyed sooner
Or skip every other cooldown, so half the emeralds, and explodes twice as fast.

I mean ussualy in bed wars the islands are placed in more of circular maner and your placement looks just kinda weird
