    Tyler Tube you need to drill the holes and spray the flex seal on the inside of the tire. Make sure there is an even coat and there are no air bubbles. The uneven surface on the tread of the tire didnt allow for sufficient sealing and caused air pockets the form.

    I don’t think this test was well thought out. I think it would have been better to do one hole per tire and use flex seal in one and the other product on another tire. That way when you fill up the tired you would have seen at what pressure the products failed. Also the tired could have been under water to more accurately see when the seals broke

    I love your videos and I watch them all, but there is only one fault about this video. When you did the test with the two holes on the same tire covered with the flex seal and flex glue, you should of done one tire flex seal and the other tire flex glue. Reason being is because if the flex seal had a big leak, there would not of been enough air pressure to see if the flex glue leaked. But it was a great video and I look forward to the next one.

  • @RobDucharme
    @RobDucharme Před 5 lety +1

    You definitely need to go into more detail on this one.. I recommend trying to repair the hole from the inside of the tire (both with the glue and the spray version). Also, stick a hole in a bike tire tube and then repair using both products. Reassemble the tire and see how it goes. I'm thinking the flex seal or glue MIGHT not 100% fix it, but in a pinch, might greatly reduce the air loss.

You should have used a smaller drill bit for the holes and you should jave done 3. 1 for the glue. 1 for flex seal that comes in a paint can not the spray type and then 1 for glue then after the glue dried apply the liquid flex seal on top to make a really good seal. You should attempt this from inside the tire not on the outside. Still might not work; but since you have the seal on the outside of the tire there is nothing that strong to hold the air back. However; if you put the seal on the inside of the tire you have the tire holding the seal back more with a smaller area that air could come out of. I would think it could act like a patch on a bicycle tube. The tire of the bicycle helps hold the patch onto the tube. I see many other comments saying the same thing.

    My idea was the remove the tire from the rim and spray it inside the tire instead of the outside. Give it a couple of coats letting it dry each time.
    That way it wills in the cracks and air puts pressure from within the inside.

    I used flex seal to patch a hole in a tubeless scooter tire. You’ll have better luck by spraying it on the INSIDE of the tire. Inflate it to about 10 PSI just to keep the pressure pushing the flex seal into the hole while drying. Obviously, you’ll find it almost impossible to remove a full size tire from a rim with your bare hands - but if you can break the seal on the bead of the tire - you can spray the flex seal into the tire from the side and position the hole/slit in the tire facing down to allow gravity to keep the flex seal in place. Not an ideal situation - but a flat tire never is.

    Get the Flex Seal in the pour/paint can type. Break the Tire bead off the of the Hub Wheel. Dont remove the rim/hub. Pour in Flex Seal inside the tire. Keep Rotating the Tire slowly for 5-10 minutes. The entire inside should get covered. Rotate it longer if you wish. Reinflate the Tire.
    The Flex Seal Glue works better.
    Break the tire bead. Put the Flex Glue on the Inside of the Tire over the hole. Let dry. Reinflate. You're done.

    We fixed my friend's tire with flex seal. My friend had a 1995 pathfinder lifted sitting on 35s. It was just a pos wheeler that we didnt care about. We were gonna go wheeling one night but noticed the front driver side tire was flat. We drove it down the road to a gas station air compressor with the flat tire hoping it would keep beaded ( it did somehow ) we went to put air in it but it wouldnt hold air for more than 10 minutes. We stood there thinking of ideas until I jumped in the back of the car and started digging through things only to return with a half full can of flex seal. We all laughed at the thought but we tried it anyway. We filled the tire back up and listened for leaks ( it was coming from the sidewall ) we sprayed the whole sidewall of the tire with about 8 coats of flex seal until it held. We went through some pretty nice mud holes that night and the flex seal held up great.

    I watched some of your videos and liked what you are doing so I have a question how come you haven't took a can of liquid flexiled and filled a tire with it to see if it would make a rubber solid tire that can last any period of time. If you did this please send me the link

    U should have just asked me.. I've used flex glue to patch cracks in 18 wheeler tankers that have to hold air pressure.. And it works like a charm.. Not permanent but it'll do

  • @joshuaramsey3028
    @joshuaramsey3028 Před 2 lety

    Even tire patches are from the inside.. I personally would have sprayed a layer of flex seal on the "inside" then put flex tape or maybe even just flex tape.

  • @mmorgz6622
    @mmorgz6622 Před 4 lety

    Usually a dead give away for a tube is the valve... Youu will be able to easily push the valve into the rim or see a gap between the rim and valve if it's tubed. Tubeless has a tightly fitted valve with no gap. Also, most (if not all) bag trolley and wheel barrow tyres are tubed. 🙄

    You need to try from the inside.
    Also hold the tires under water while filling them to locate any possible leaks.

    If the valve stem is solid and does not push in when the tire has no air it has no tube. Tubed tires when deflated can easily have the valve stem pushed into the tire/wheel with no resistance.

    How about if you put the flex Seal in the tube just like Fix-A-Flat

  • @bluej511
    @bluej511 Před 5 lety

    I don't think this would ever work from the outside. From the inside its a possibility as it would actually go into the hole and the air would push it into the hole and actually seal it. Take the tire off, spray flex seal/glue and put a bit of air in there like 3-4 psi so it seals into the hole as well.
    You can try it in a tube like tubeless tires for bicycles, pretty much the tire is filled with a silicone fluid that seals if theres ever a puncture. I dont think flex seal is thin enough of a fluid to work that way though. Could be a good experiment.

    You can always tell if it is tube or tube less by how the valve stem is mounted on the rim.... if it just comes through a hole in rim it is a tube but if it is mounted in the rim hole then it is tubeless

  • @drcoach92
    @drcoach92 Před 5 lety

    You shouldve used a nail or something similar to do the test because even if you ran over a drill bit it wouldnt bore out the hole like you did. The amount of flex seal hardly mattered by then and all you did was take away its chance of succeeding.
