Nail polish remover usually has additives since pure acetone will dry your hands and nails. So it'd take a long time to dissolve Chucky

The reason the sharpies didn’t dissolve is because they designed it to be resistant to acetone since the die inside is acetone based

The plastic was probably something like PET or PETG. ABS will dissolve with acetone. Reason why the Barbie and Legos dissolved. You could see those two instantly deform as the acetone hit it.

It evaporates quite fast, so not a big deal. Your skin will be dry for a day, but that's it.

Acetone and other chemicals should not be treated as "not a big deal".
@@desert666josh there are some chemicals which is a big deal, like sulfuric acid, don't want it on my hands. Instant burning and doesn't washes off with water well, but the acetone is vaporing away pretty fast and just dries skin a little. Once in a while it's ok on the skin.
@@desert666josh that generally applies to if you literally soak/dwell your skin in it, i work with it daily with bare hands. it dries fast enough in small doses and your body naturally produces it anyhow. (i of course still rinse off my hands as a precaution anyhow when im done, but still)

Some info for what happened to the barbie! in the doll customising community, we use acetone a lot! It is often used for removing factory paint, as it doesn't dissolve the face. It can also be used to shrink the heads. The heads are made of soft vinyl, and they absorb the acetone and expand. When they expand they become very fragile, as you saw, and can split if you're not careful. When they dry, the acetone evaporates and shrinks the head down! The sticky residue on your gloves was likely from the body and arms. The harder plastic melts in acetone and becomes sticky, I learnt that the hard way when customising!

Acetone will soften the Barbie's vinyl head and over the course of a day or two, the head will swell up and double in size. It becomes extremely soft and easy to tear but if you take it out of the acetone and leave it to dry, it will shrink smaller than it was prior to the acetone bath. This is called head shrinking. Acetone is also used to remove factory paint from doll's faces. Both of these techniques are used in the doll customization community (of which I also take part in)
