- Venom is Sony's second attempt at bringing Marvel's alien symbiote to the big screen. In Spider-Man 3 fans were very disappointed with Venom's appearance and Sony have tried to rectify that with Tom Hardy's version of Venom. Did they succeed with making this Venom accurate to his Marvel comic book counterpart, or did they fail and should they go back to revising the character before including him into Venom 2?

True, but that would make Venom look like a floppy and discount Logan
Yet they have Deadpool PG13.
If they made the Movie rated R, it would allow for more brutal Venom scenes, but it would also allow for more vulgar words, which would really hurt the one "Pussy" scene. The movie being PG13, nobody expected that scene and it felt like everybody enjoyed that scene.

obviously you didn’t pay attention whilst watching Venom. Symbiotes can only survive inside a hosts body for a few days when the host and symbiote HAVE NOT merged correctly. When they have, they can survive TOGETHER for as long as they want
Jacob Nathan yeah I noticed that as well and a lot of other things that he said in this. I don’t know how he thought Tom has a heart of gold? And talks about Eddie being a jock and this and that but says spider man 3 venom “he was actually a photographer” wtf 😂 cause he takes pictures in that version you like him more? I just watched the movie a hour ago and felt like this guy wasn’t even paying attention with some of the things he’s saying. He talked about eddies relationship and how he couldn’t picture them together but they’re only together as a couple in the movie for like 1 scene! 🤦🏽♂️ then says venom giving “relationship advice is lame” but says if he was a “badass then got Frightened by riot that would be cool”. You can’t make this shit up 😂 and I don’t remember venom mentioning riot till the end not constantly

It actually quite true to the period of time when Venom first became a anti-hero in the 90s, which was a run of mini series after mini series. To be frank Eric Carter gets so many details wrong (like Eddie's original job being a photographer, which he wasn't, instead he was a journalist for the Daily Globe) and fails to realize they are going with the 90s anti-hero characterization, (Fun fact Eddie has been anti-hero for far longer than his run as a villain) I highly doubt he has read the comics. At best he read the Ultimate line.

I think that if Venom got an R rating and had Scream or Hybrid from the comics as the villains it would've been much better. Also ditch that generic score, the score from Venom was made by the same guy who created the damn Black Panther soundtrack, and yet Venom's "Theme" is just way to average action movie music.

I've always loved spiderman 3, yes alot of characters but I probably liked it cause I watched the directors cut which gave sandman more time and she it was long i still like it, eddy asking God to kill Peter and getting venom is very smart, theres just small sprinkles of actual care that was covered by sony

What I would've wanted to see in Venom is the bond between eddie brock and venom. Like basically venom changes the person in to doing wrong things and how it effects the people around him and eddie wants to let go but he can't because he is addicted to it. Yet this movie didn't even try.

Venom surely had a...Rocky start to say the least. I REALLY enjoyed the movie. Venom is my favorite Anti Hero in Marvel. I loved every second of his dialogue and appearances with Eddy. But it is certainly not without it's flaws. I'm hoping the director for the next Venom takes our criticisms seriously and improves on the next one

Let me confess that I enjoyed Venom a lot. But I was also disappointed that it was more of a superhero movie rather than an anti-hero movie.
I hope Morbius is more of a body horror anti-hero movie.
Eddie Brock was never a photographer in the comics. He was a reporter.
But I prefer Toby McGuire I respect his tunnels I don’t like the modern Spider-Man so I’m glad Toby McGuire Spider-Man number three is good so I thank you for that and if I was possessed by strange creature or ghosts or Alien it would be soul archer from Ninjago

Lol. Great movie but Sony left that movie to its directors and kept their germ infested hands out of the production. That's why the movie ended up being so great. They can't seem to do that with their live action movies.

I was excited for Venom and I couldn't wait to see the movie. When I finally watched it, it wasn't what I thought it would be. I was expecting this movie to have a horror-like feel. This movie left me very underwhelmed. Like I said, I was so excited for this movie. Plus, it felt too rushed in some scenes.

I honestly Enjoyed The Venom Movie And I did like the Venom in the Venom film more Then the one we got in Spider-Man 3 NOT JUST BECAUSE THE DESIGN AND LOOK OF VENOM LOOKED LIKE VENOM! Cause I sometimes thought the CGI for Venom in the Venom film was Terrible at Points But Also Because This Venom We Knew More About Him! HE WAS AN ALIEN PARASITE THAT JUST REALLY WANTED A GOOD HOST TO BOND WITH AND SO FAR, HE DIDN'T FIND ANYBODY HE LOVED! AND THEN HE FINALLY BONDED WITH EDDIE BROCK AND VENOM REALLY LIKED HIM CAUSE APPARENTLY BACK IN VENOM'S PLANET, VENOM WAS A HUGE LOSER AND NONE OF THE SYMBIOTES LIKED HIM I THINK! AND EDDIE BROCK IS ALSO A HUGE LOSER SO VENOM THINKS THEY BOTH CAN GET ALONG! That is a Pretty Bad reason why Venom Randomly Liked Eddie But The Relationship Between Them And the way they Talked and argued was done well To My Opinion And this is my kind of Theory Of why Venom Decided to be a Good Guy Instead Taking Over earth with the SYMBIOTES! Yeah I saw it. It was terrible. A complete waste of time and mess of a film. You can tell the producers of this movie took creative control away from the director. When I make a video comparing the two Hellboy's in the future. I am going to mention the producers and make sure that they get the blame for this movie.

Spider-Man 3 by a landslide, yeah it's not perfect and is convoluted but atleast it was competently, had amazing action, and the movie has heart and themes about revenge forgivness unlike the badly edited cooperate and artifically made Venom.

Spider-Man 2 was made by Sam Raimi. The studio kept their fingers out of the production. As soon as they started to put their hands into the production, we got Spider-Man 3.
I am not saying that we can't get good comic book movies from Sony. I'm just saying that we can't get good comic book movies when Sony start putting their hands into the production and take control away from the filmmakers.

It was pretty clear that Sony pencilled in venom in Spider-Man 3 only because the fans love them as neither the director nor the crew seemed to really care about the character that much. With that said, Venom's Solo movie was okay; a lot better than what we got from the previous incarnation. Both still aren't great but this easily goes to the Venom Solo movie.
I actually disagree with the Eddie is nice part. I liked the fact that he was nice. I know he's supposed to be mean. But the spectacular Spiderman show was able to pull it off. And I think Venom did too
But in spectacular Spider-Man he became evil. At first he is nice and became evil when he had venom. That did not happen in the movie Venom he was a good guy all along. And I hated the Venom movie it did not portrait the character well.
I think they saw yours and others videos of how they pronounced Smbyote (if that’s how it spelled) so they re-shot it that’s just something I noticed (not sure if you mentioned this yet I’m just watching beginning right now)

First of all Im a huge fan of your work. I love the way you watch these movies and compare them. And now about the movies, just as you said, both the movies were not dark enough for their potential and storyline.
But there was one point I would have to disagree with you, that is Venom already knew everything about the life of Eddie when he entered his body (it is mentioned by him in one of the dialogues) and I would have absolutely loved to have seen Venom using Eddie’s emotional weaknesses against him to his advantage to achieve some goal that he should have had.
That being said, I would absolutely love to see more videos from you. Cheers!

You are so right....i guess it would be the best if we could somehow merge these two venoms and add some more from commics and some edge from ultimate comics(and the game you mentioned)....but really it feels like whole movie is rushed to a second movie which i really hope will be alot better...but instead of having venom as a main focus in the first film being both a threat and a protagonist we got a rushed chase for riot who was just downright bland and totally ruined venoms spotlight....i mean original hulk had an enemy as well but it was executed way better than this

Hi Tom. It got hacked, and the hacker posted a bunch of inappropriate pictures. I managed to log into my account but Twitter suspended it. I explained the situation to them and appealed the suspension and they denied me multiple times.
I will try to appeal it again at some point. But right now, I don't know what I'm going to do.
18:37 The point of Venom staying bonded to Eddie was because he was the most suitable host he could find, and even states he can't let Eddie die or else he dies as well. In this movie, Venom would have no practical reason to mentally fuck with and torture Eddie. This portrayal of the character is more in tune with what he originally was, he was an alien organism that took on Spiderman's more heroic attributes when it bonded to him and the only reason it was fucking insane in the first place was because it bonded to deadpool before hand.

From what I’ve read of it, Sony is planning to make Venom even more of a superhero in Venom 2 and with a spider man cameo......I actually felt sick when I read it. This movie was a bad idea from the beginning. The only reason why this movie exists is because Sony got credit for homecoming and started to think that they were back in business with superhero movies.
I didn’t even get the feeling when I first saw the trailer that “this seems like a good upcoming movie”, mostly because Sony spoiled all the plot points in the trailer. With for an example the dark phoenix trailer it’s like “I don’t get the full picture of it, it’s more like I’m watching through a keyhole” 😂.
