- Ippei Mizuhara has been with Shohei Ohtani for five years now and even he thought it would take more time than this for Ohtani to adjust to the majors
Ippei was my high school buddy in Diamond Bar HS. Was in the varsity soccer team together and played a lot of basketball together as well. So happy for Ippei that he's the translator for Ohtani! By the way, Ippei has never changed his hair since elementary, I believe. LOL. Good job Ippei!

Ippei is 38. Mlb translator salary varies, for example Iwakuma’s translator made a confirmed 75k, but I think it’s likely Ippei is probably the highest paid translator. I’d guess like 120-150k but then there’s so many perks and things you don’t have to pay for that I think that amount translates to a significant amount more. I’m sure shohei hooks him up also since shohei is best dude and they seem extremely friendly, not just an employee/employer relationship
