One of the best cars of the 90's.
Jesse Lee the 3000GT wasn’t made to be a sports car. It was always meant to be a grand touring car. That’s why it was the most advanced car back in the 90’s. If it was meant to be a sports car, then it would have been lighter.
DroidTech I have one all original with out any mods with 19k all original and would sell it for for 30k and everything works

I owned a red non-turbo 3000GT in 1995, fun car to own.
I currently own this car. Too bad the show still has all the paperworks for my car but hard to get a hold of them.. She's still going strong, the shifter they put in blows but other than that everything is great. Maybe I'll post a vid soon

This episode started me on a path to buying a 93 VR4. After a long time of looking I bought one. Very, very happy
He had the cheek to say "remember how valuable I am"....I think they should've got rid of him & kept edd then put edd & ant in the show together.

I found a 91 vr4 Fiji blue, 1 of about 500 made on side of a road omw to work one morning, dude wanted a grand for it, IMMEDIATELY bought it. My dream car from my child hood and my favorite color on top of being a rare edition all while manufactured in my birth year and month of January. These cars can be a gift from above.

He’s a competent guy and good at explaining stuff. Understandably you can only fit so much into 45 minutes, Mark Evans “is born” series was good start to finish restoration. Shame WD is American owned now as it’s ruined.

the supra surpassed this 3,800 ib. monster in every way, even though it was quick. i think road and track got 4.7 0-60 out of it but baked the clutch.
@@axlerose4744 it actually was a supra killer if they were stock but with engine potential the 2jz could produce more power and it was lighter
I personally have a 1995 3000gt vr4 and I can say they are great cars, lots of maintenance but worth it. I would definitely own another one.

Mike wears a Rolex Daytona, pure class, the guy knows his cars, and many car guys are watch guys as well.
Half decent episode hardly looked at my phone while it was on. Although that's because of the car not the presenters.
Why does the new guy feel the need to try and show off in front of the camera. Most episodes there's a shot of him carrying something heavy like a bonnet, engine head or exhaust.
They make it look like it's just him and Tubby there when we all know a team of people do the really work. At least Edd was honest and asked Paul for help.

It is a very solid and very reliable car. Don't let all the idiots who destroyed this car with their idiot "upgrades" tell you otherwise. I own mine now for over 4 years and total maintenance cost which included the 60K service cost me about $1500 and that is using top of the line oils for everything from Redline. The car itself I bought for 11.5k with 96K miles on it. For the amount of fun you get from this car, it is a total steal. And if you like attention, you get it constantly with this car including some people thinking it is a new model...lol. But best of all, there is hardly anything on the road today short of a 60K plus sports car that can even compete with it.

My stock 97 VR4 ran a best 0f 13.19@104.7mph....these cars are insane fast stock, easily faster stock than all but the Supra TT, which I owned as well and it was only faster on the highway. Nice vid.
I was really looking forward to this video and it turned out to be a joke. They threw out the paper work history that Mike always talks about in just about every previous show. The first thing you do on these cars is replace the hydraulic tensioner and timing belt on these cars. Did not get done. Really disappointed that such a nice car is not treated with the respect it deserves. More engines in these cars have been destroyed this way than any other cause.

A good show, Ant very good at explanation/detail and appears enthusiastic about the cars unlike Edd who seemed totally cheesed off towards the end of the previous series.
Funny how i enjoyed both mechanics throughout the series but still Edd was being sarcastic towards modern cars

Another example of Japanese leading the way in technology. Now three decades after the auto union at the '91 Indy 500 rejected it ( as Dodge Stealth ) as the pace car for being not American, most major auto manufacturers have scrapped the inefficient V8 for twin turbo 4 and 6 cylinder motors. Don't get me wrong, I love the sound of my Tundra's V8 through Magnaflow exhaust, however such large inefficient ICEs are now history.

Seems to me that Mike and Ant are doing very little compared to previous series, less explanation, not so in depth like EdChina used to do, there’s hardly any of Mike ducking and diving to get deals on parts, stuff like interiors getting sourced out to other companies, maybe another series will see Mike and Ant get better.
Peter Cavellini this was the very reason Ed left, because they were changing the show too much, not the same format any more, much less actual mechanic"ing" so he left (wasn't kicked out) now there's that plum Ant as a replacement, or Ed China's garage revival which looks better.

The 3000GT is much too heavy and way too complicated to fix & maintain.
It's also slower & doesn't handle anywhere near has well as an Evo.
No the Evo is not a sports car, it's a sports Saloon.
@@Zerofightervi Nothing is overly complicated or hard to fix on a 3000GT VR4 or even a base 3000gt (owned one for 12 years with zero issues). If you can't do basic stuff you should maybe leave it to professionals. Slower & doesn't handle as well? lol. I must assume you drove a butchered VR4 or totally run down VR4. My VR4 can take on any Evo, even the latest models and do just fine. Newer Evo's can get a jump on a VR4 but we always reel you in. And handling worse than an Evo? Once again I must assume you drove a poorly maintained VR4, maybe even had the AWS removed for weight reduction, lol. It drives like it is on rails with the proper tires, how can you get better handling than that? The only thing the Evo has on the 3000GT is passenger capacity. But I would never drive fast with passengers in the back seat anyway, so I rather have a very fast and very safe sports car over an ugly duck that can maybe keep up once in a while but not really.
Mike meet his Match lets hope he gives Mike a chance like he gave a chance to Ed
A shame these cars were so unreliable and hard to work on. They were absolute beasts .

Had a Black 89 model....the lifter click was a total asspain. With the Turbo boost etc....it was 412bhp.
Loved the dump valve on mine...really made it sing....
The one down side....you could hit the ton and not realise it....which made it a Plod magnet....

Ant is a terrific mechanic, does everything right, good explanation, etc... but once a mind has 'defined' someone in the past, for such a long period of time, it is quite impossible to just 'change' a character. I miss Ed China here. Casting new people in soaps, has the same type of issues going with it. Have to admit that changing Mike wouldn't have been that hard. Sorry Mike... . Don't get me wrong, Mike really knows his cars and classics, good sales man, but this is more about the mechanic.

Good vid, but I've just got to say. This is not a sports car.. This is a Grand Touring Car( hence the GTO moniker in Japan) I may be OCD, but I'm not incorrect. Too heavy to be a sports car and built for a long-distance at speed
Very true, but also extremely fast in a straight line, I'm on my 12th VR4, I own 3 right now. My bone stock 1997 VR4 ran a best of 13.19@104.7mph. They are grand touring cars, but it's faster stock than any stock Evo or STI due to the gearing.
It’s a grand tourer yet it can still whoop some sports cars from the era in the corners or in a straight line with ease

I have a GTO (jap import 3000GT) and to be honest, they're better to drive without all the tech crap. It was for Mitsubishi to show off, not really a massive improvement in driver aids.. That lady who bought it is rather attractive..

Robert Magaña That girl was a fake buyer and that whole scene was staged. They couldn't get a buyer in time before the episode aired so they used this girl who was a friend of the crew to pretend to buy the car. This car was for sale on EBay after the show aired.
Robert Magaña Oh yea a dead give away is when Mike said she used to own a 3000gt in that exact color. I'm on all the 3000gt Facebook groups and I know of only 2 females in the world that have ever owned a 3000gt and this was the rarest color. So yea total bs lol.
Unfortunately, you have no idea what you’re talking about. The cars are one of the rarest cars on the road. It was a $40,000 car, brand new and that was in the early 1990s. Easily costing $70,000 equivalent, back then. This car is a master piece for that price. I almost shit myself when he said it was for sale for that cheap. I’ve seen them with 1,800 miles, today, got for $60,000.
Wow. At only 1,800 miles .. The engine is sure to be in pristine shape, but I sure hope those electronics all work, not old and corroded.
