  • NBC News and the Today Show welcome you to the 1990s with a special guest who wouldn't be around for much longer to fill in the recently departed Jane Pauley- ALF. Unlike most episodes, this episode mainly takes a look back at the '80s through the top news events, music, movies, TV shows, books, sports highlights, and more. Also features commercials and newsbreaks as taped off WNBC New York. Includes interviews with VH-1's Bobby Rivers, The New York Times Christopher Lehman-Haupt, singer Ruth Brown, Cosmopolitan's Guy Flatley, and producer David Brown.

    This was the first day of a brand new decade, which is the 1990s. After one of the greatest decades of all time, the 80s renounce switch to another great decade the 90s.

    I wish I was born in 1960. I'd become an adult in the 70's and be in my 20's in the 80's, so I could have kids in the 90's. Those 3 decades have defined a lot of my interests and even a little bit of my personality. I am a product of the 2000s, but I feel more "at home" seeing how it used to be.

    OMG. I missed this back in 1990. Talk about an NBC News low point. They should have pulled Perri Peltz from across the hall and let her sub for Jane or I guess Deborah.

    The whole show was pretaped except for the news updates. That’s why Bob Kur was in the Nightly News studio, and why he had to introduce himself.

    ALF was still an entity, just that NBC decided to cancel the show.

    • @RealDaveTalk
      @RealDaveTalk Před 8 měsíci +2

      I don’t know why they canceled the show because it was pretty good. They could’ve had five more years of that show but it sucks. They canceled it too soon.
      Plus the cliffhanger of the last episode, where he got captured by the CIA

    boy, I hated bryant Gumbel. He was always too sure of himself. And he mistreated other women and was arrogant. but he got away with it for so long, because he was black and at that time in history, FEAR of being unpoliticallly correct PROTECTED Bryant Gumbel.
