The whole point of buying a ticket to a rock show is to see the real guys up there right in front of you, performing their music! If they're not really there, it's not a rock show, it's a 3D movie. Lame.

Would have been nice if instead of the avatars looking like PS5 Video Game characters floating in the air with no weight to them they tried harder to make it look like a real KISS concert.
The big difference between this and ABBA is that ABBA was dormant for 40+ years. How can we miss them if they wont go away? The whole point of a concert is the live experience and interaction with the crowd. You're not going to experience that with cartoon characters on a screen.
They've been announcing their retirement for at least two decades. When they appeared at the Closing Ceremonies of the 2002 Winter Games, they were supposedly on their farewell tour. I'll believe it when I don't see it...
The band blew 'the smoke effect budget' in the last 20 seconds of RARAN. In-truth as a lifelong major KISS fan I was satisfied with the band's conclusion as Gene, Paul, Eric and Tommy disappeared into the mists of time. That was it for the majority of real KISS fans not addicted to the radical 'all things KISS and the Gene and Paul show must-have collective'. The AI avatar announcement was anti-climactic and in-earnest is dead-on-the-operating-table in true KISS fandom. The mediocre PPV, the same setlist of the last 10 years and complete disregard for any mention of past band members and loyal crew, solidified the reality KISS had become a shill for its former self. Let It Be.

In 72 Gene and Paul got together and tried to make some music with a band they called wicked Lester. Even recorded some shitty stuff with them. They realized they needed better people to play with. They auditioned Peter and hired him. They put an ad in the village voice for a guitarist with flash and ability and hired Ace. It took all 4 ingredients to get the original sound. In the beginning Peter and especially Ace helped form the sound. I hope this clears things up.
