Shirwal Panpoi (Jakat Pivhai) | शिरवळ येथील पाणपोई (जकात पिव्हई) | ऐतिहासिक पाणपोई | कित्येक मावळ्यांची आणि खुद्द शिवरायांची तहान भागविणारी ही पाणपोई | Shirwal | Satara,Pune
सातारा पुणे राष्ट्रीय महामार्गावरील शिरवळ गावाजवळ असणाऱ्या धनगरवाडी येथे पुरातन व ऐतिहासिक मोडकळीस आलेल्या मंदिरासारखी वास्तू दिसते. दुर्दैवाने ते मंदिर नसून ती पाणपोई आहे. या पाणपोईची निर्मिती काही अभ्यासकांच्या मते 1800 वर्षांपूर्वीची आहे तर काही अभ्यासक या पाणपोईचा निर्मितीचा काळ उत्तर सातवाहन सांगतात. देवगिरीच्या यादव राजाच्या काळात आणि उत्तर मराठा कालखंडात या पानपोईची दुरुस्ती झाली होती अशा नोंदी सापडतात.
The Panpoi at Shirwal is one of its kind in terms of it form, layout and design. As the name suggests, it houses through two water storage elements and a structure to provide shade. Such systems were familiar on trade routes in Western Deccan region of Maharashtra. It is built in basalt stone ranging over a height of 300-600mm. The structure is very simple and the crux of it completely lies in the interlocking of stones.
