      Handle dragging actually works untill the fists reach the back thigh in the down swing. Then you just need to let the clubhead go!
      I allways fear for people trying to maintain lag till the impact. They may hit it pretty solid, but really. So much work for nothing.
      A mental image, that could work is hanging on the handle post impact. Like in a tug of war. You need to resist the opposition by pulling back with all you’ve ever got.

    Mike and Shawn, FWIW that was an amazing lesson to observe. You both have spent years learning the golf swing, the technology (not to mention a student’s various learning styles) and have managed to blended them all beautifully. I believe your secret sauce is the humility in which you deliver the info. We’ve all learned thru trial and error but when you use technology properly, it truly simplifies the process and speeds up the learning. I don't have the exact same issues that this guy does, but when it comes down to it we were both trying to hold off the angle at the bottom and it was an absolute mess. Also, and this is probably the bigger deal, the clearance of the left hip (by straightening the left leg) to bring the handle forward is *huge. This is a must* *watch* for people struggling with shaft lean and compression. You guys are lifesavers.

  • @williamgoode469
    @williamgoode469 Před rokem

    The lowering of the left shoulder on the backswing assists the loading on the right side and then an easy transfer to the left. Your tip on "swing the Bebbie out of the shaft at the ball" is spot on. It paints a beautiful picture that the right hand has to stay dormant until just before impact.

  • @RJMConsultingCDOs
    @RJMConsultingCDOs Před rokem

    You guys are taking instruction to a new level. The "bb' idea is huge. But the real insight for me is the knee work. I've been hyper focused on getting the lead leg straight and also keeping the back of the left hand bowed through impact. While this has to a degree stabilized the club face, it is hard to do consistently and impossible to replicate in the full swing: the momentum of the club head overwhelms the hand and wrist. Watching you work with Ryan, I could feel my own swing loosening up, becoming freer and naturally athletic. Thank you!

    absolutely unbelievable stuff. I was just laughing watching the guy after one hour still trying to hold on to shaft lean DJ style, because I tried same thing forever but my teacher (pretty good guy) had a hard time to explain to me how to square with less lean and hand blocking (which this DJ style shaft forcing really is). We got to the point I hit good length but lots of managable pushes/push-draws. So we started on "separation" now to combat that which translates to "open hip first" which as you pointed out is a great fad and impossibel to time/execute for lots mortals. The leg movement was the first time I've seen properly explained, mostly people talk about "squat" (for me the concept of pushing of right foot worked better but still 'constructed') which this thing is but isn't, the scissoring motion of exchanging the bends was critical and you demonstrated it beautifully ;-) For beginners hard to put stuff like this into practice though IME. unless you have good depth on backswing and rhythm to transfer the weight back correctly and do not try to hit with arms/shoulders the whole downswing stuff shown here is impossible to execute IME.

    This is a glimmer of hope. I have tried everything to improve my impact position (too flipy). Speeding up the hands, driving with the elbow, bowing the wrist. Everything looks great in slow motion practice swings, but every time I do a full swing with a ball, my hands are in the middle of the stance at impact (in my good swings) or way behind the clubface (when I try to fire the hips to early and get too slidy). This leads to tremendous inconsistencies (currently horrible hooks). Maybe its all in my backswing and I am searching for the wrong answers... Are you trying to correct/improve 1) club path, 2) club face, 3) angle of attack (the major swing flaws). How does starting the downswing with the hips slightly moving down and toward the target, even before the backswing has complete, affect any of these three (ans: #3-minimize hitting behind the ball). Same with shaft lean.What does more or less shaft lean affect. If I want a lower ball flight, I'll use a stronger club.

    This golfer could have been me as far as issues in the swing. All your videos are very good, but the live lessons are even better if that’s possible. One thing that has been hard for me to comprehend is if you do the re centering move correct, there really does not have to be purposeful forward movement. The rotating back down to the ball will take care of the rest of the forward you need, correct? Today I was hitting balls and doing exactly what he was doing which was moving way forward even after rec entering. I think too much lateral movement was forcing me to flip. I mean my club face looks square at the back line, my early extension is minimal if any, I have trouble seeing another reason as to why I am flipping. Keep up the good work! Btw, my fantasy girl was always Salma Hayek, but I think my fantasy today would be to get a live golf lesson from you guys and really see what is going on in my swing.😂 Maybe someday.

    Shoot the BB down the shaft at the ball. Interesting thought. I'm adding that to the figure 8. Can't wait till this snow melts!!!

    I just watched y’all’s “Improve the timing of your golf swing today” video, and some of the information seems to contradict. I’m confused as to when you think the weight shift/lateral shift should happen? In the “timing video” you recommend the ‘baby step forward’ drill when the club is basically parallel, but in this video, you’ll recommend the lateral shift should take place closer to the top of the back swing.. could you maybe clarify when you see most good golfers do it, and when you think it should happen? Thanks, great videos!

    I think the release of the club is the most misconceived idea in the majority of golfer's minds. It happens so fast but you nailed it with the BB release down the shaft at contact (Using the Contact Bag is great for squaring clubface at impact). The Handle/Grip is level on the downswing at the knees but by impact should be almost straight up and down at contact. Thanks for sharing!

    I refer to this as staying still; that’s what works for me anyway. It’s amazing how little you have to do, but there is a lot that can go wrong. Everyone’s looking for more distance which gets them out of position.
    Thanks guys.

    I took your idea about swinging the club to “throw a BB” out of the shaft at the ball to the range and hit my irons better than I have in quite a while. Thanks guys! I’m sure my timing and weight shift still need plenty of work, but that really did help.

    As they said at the end of the video, how good will the next generation of golfers be when this technology becomes accessible to everyone via their phones or something similar? The tech takes all the guesswork out of it. Just match the feels to the numbers and the result will simply happen. I need to make it goal to go out and see these guys. Simply awesome results.
