For someone like myself who has been an immense fan of hers since the very first day I saw her on American idol, what she does at the two minute mark 2:00 reconfirms what I know to be a fact: that Jennifer is a world-class singer. There are other magical moments here, but this particular upper-mid belt …where her roundness, extreme power, & pure resonance ring through your entire head … as the vibrato kicks in and rings through the auditorium all the way to the balconies …like nobody else. Amazing. And if you think my bias clouds my judgment, let me tell you a little story. My father, who was a big Eagles fan and a devoté of Frank Sinatra and the big band era, plus 60s and 70s pop and rock, was also never a big fan of female singers nor of modern R&B/soul. He once told me that the only three Soul ladies he ever really liked when exposed to them were Whitney Houston, Kim Burrell…and, yes, Jennifer Hudson. Kim Burrell stopped him in his tracks. I had her on the DVR one day and he walks to the room and usually he’s ignoring my music, but he came back into the room pretty quickly from his office and literally said “WHO is that?” And then he stood there and watched her for like five-ten minutes and was just like “wow!” He always said that he doesn’t usually like “vocal acrobatics, ornamentations and superfluous vocalizations,” but that hers were so supremely skillful, tasteful and jazzy, with brilliant musicality and pitch perfect. As for Whitney, he thought she was a beautiful creature and possessed the voice of an angel. He decidedly admired her early works more than her later efforts. And as for Jennifer Hudson? He said her voice clearly a bit wild around the edges but that when she was on point she truly touched his heart and rocked his soul. He figured she would be a massive star one day. He died in 2010. It was great that we agreed on a few things in music.
This solidified her of being in my top 10/ top 5 of great singers of this generation. This was absolutely stunning ❤❤❤. The sound of her voice sounds so heavenly. I love when Jennifer plays around with her head voice. Her voice sounds so rich and full. The older she gets the better her voice gets.

Wow! Wow! Wow!. Jennifer has improved soo much. Her vocals are beautiful. So much control. I thought I heard a hint of Whitney when she said tomorrow in the beginning. Phenomenal!! Jennifer!!!!
The Most incredible vocal delivery yet from her! She gave away nothing! The Verses Were executed with mastery: That Gospel church arrangement was Amazing:: Allowing Her To weave in her Head voice incredible melodic phrases; That made it all her Own; I felt Like I was in some church and being Ministered too! Then Going into her Belt Noted Full and Rich as they were: were perfection! Then she take you back into that intimate part of her voice: and Notice The Vibrato Speed in every part of her Vocal range! Whitney would be extremely impressed; This surly For me is her Best Vocal yet! Apply That gospel style and organ to the arrangement was just absolute Genius! Ballad writers This is what you should feel: after hearing a real Ballad!

Same here! She's an amazing singer...but her tone is just not my cup of tea.... and I don't like the sound of her voice when she's belting the upper register notes.. they're just not pleasing to my ears ..even though it's powerful...I just don't feel it ..I don't know... But that being said, she's one of the best in the music industry right now....
