There is a way to take a vocal demanding sound and simplify it to your comfort and ability. If you know how to sing... you can sing anything. I remember hearing Whitney say that
Go to her show. She literally said she can’t sing in that whistle octive. They worked it out another way. That song is written and designed for Mariah’s talent. It will always be her legendary song. Jennifer did the song Justice and I enjoyed it.

I was wonder how Jennifer was going to sing this song. She made smart vocal choices and did a beautiful job. She gave me chills. Well done. By the way that's George Huff from American Idol on backgrounds.
This was very nice for what it was! Jennifer and Mariah are both very different vocalists with *VERY* different voice types. In the same way that Mariah could never sing "And I Am Telling You" or most of Aretha's catalog like Jennifer can, Mariah's songs are CRAZY hard to sing- nearly untouchable. MAYBE Tori Kelly could pull it off, but even her belts/chest voice is way lighter. I've never heard anyone else with a full, heavy chest voice but a light, agile head and whistle like Mariah's! She's one of a kind.
This song is not suited to Jennifer’s voice at all. Didn’t enjoy the slowed tempo or dramatic enunciation and pauses between words. It just didn’t work for my ears
