1:24:17 Actually, it DOES exist on CD, vinyl, and cassette. It was officially released on those formats in 2013 i believe. However, each one was limited to only around 1,000 copies, and has become hard to find. The only reason it hasn't been released again is because the album contains too many uncleared samples that they would be sued for. Bootlegs do exist though, and the quality is usually pretty great. Honestly, in some ways, listening to a bootleg feels like the only true way to listen to death grips.

I think part of the appeal of Death Grips is that no two albums sound super similar, like you mentioned in the closing thoughts. I'll say that no two consecutive albums (hell, even NOTM and Jenny Death sound super dissimilar) sound anything like each other. The fact that Death Grips continues to innovate with every passing record makes them one of my all-time favorite groups. Great reaction! I gotta hear your reaction to Bottomless Pit at some point.

Notm and gp sound similar under many aspects; for example all the chopped vocals and constantly changing song structures like billy not really and anne bonny but yeah i think it’s the only case where two death grips albums are kinda built on similar sounds and ideas. I would also argue that the reason why notm is so much better than gp is that dg would actually build on some of the song ideas from government plates with a more ambitious twitst, the bjork vocals, and longer songs with multiple energy levels all over them like fuck me out or up my sleeves. This is definitely not like a college dropout to late registration type of situation though ; government plates and notm don’t have such similar tracklist and don’t really provide a very similar listening experience from front to end

I always liked this annotation from Genius on the Exmilitary cover, written by ahxfootball22:
The cover is a folded picture of an Aboriginal man. The image was carried in the wallet drummer Zach Hill as a symbol of strength, explaining why the image is folded two ways. This image represents the untamed human desires and aggression that is explored in the album’s abrasive, angry lyrics. It should also be noted that the folds also take the shape of the crosshairs as if the man is being targeted by society, illustrating how western culture frowns upon and tries to tame the primitive desires of man. The folds can also take the shape of a fence, furthering the theme of how western society cages men and targets primal behavior.

DG and MF DOOM have really been important to me and you give them both the justice they deserve. No recommendations, but I wonder if there are any albums you might recommend to someone like ME who has only listened to Industrial/Hip-Hop and not listened to much Rock/Metal. Thanks for the amazing content, you're KILLING IT!

I don´t listen to much metal but here are some sugestions outside the hiphop realm:
There are a lot of new cool post-punk albums mainly from the uk but from other places too. my recomendations are Black midi, squid and if you want something more jazzy and indie the go to is black country, new road (Their album Ants from up there might be my AOTY). Otherwise idk, I don't lislisten too a lot of metal and if I do listen to more rock oriented stuf it is usualy indie rock, punk stuff or shoegaze. bands from those genres I would recomend are (indie rock:) fleet foxes, the strokes, (punk:) Soul glo, Viagra boys, (shoegaze:) my bloody valentine and slowdive.
Edit: I tried to chose newer bands or band with some newer stuff out, but with shoegaze it´s hard to not go with the classics. The strokes are also to grate not to leave in even though they are a bit of an older band that has not droped anything in two years. (The new abnoraml is so good tho.) If you end up wanting more suggestions holler at me, especially for shoegaze/dreampop stuff.

As someone who has mashed up k-pop instrumentals with Death Grips vocals... I think part of it is to do with how readily available they make their stems, and another part is how their actual instrumentals and vocals sometimes clash interestingly with each other anyway. Also vocals that aren't set to a particular key are much easier to mash up with melodic instrumentals

I know the post you’re talking about at 6:51. Disclaimer, by the way, but please talk to someone if you’re having thoughts like these. I promise there are people that care about you.
If I’m remembering correctly, the OP had been suicidal, and decided one night to go through with it. He dropped acid (or possibly some other psychedelic drug, though I’m fairly sure it was acid), put on some calming music on Spotify, slit his wrists, and laid in his bathtub, hoping to bleed out. Luckily, as he laid there and as the drugs kicked in, the calming music he put on ended, and the next song in the queue was (I want to think) Bubbles Buried In This Jungle, a Death Grips song off their album Bottomless Pit, and a song that just _starts._ Almost instantly, he panics, scrambles out of the tub, runs over to his neighbour’s house, and gets his neighbour to call him an ambulance.
Years later, having received medical treatment and mental help (if that’s the wrong word please let me know), he goes into a convenience store for a snack, and as he’s perusing the aisles, he spots an African American male in a dark hoodie and jeans, whom he soon recognizes as MC Ride. He asks Ride something to the tune of “are you who i think you are?”, and he says “probably”.
My recollection of this part is especially fuzzy but I’ll try my best to summarise. OP, overcome by emotion and not sure what to say, pulls up his sleeve, shows Ride the scars on his arms, and goes on to tell Ride how much Death Grips helped him and how their music saved him. Ride looks at the scars, then at OP, and tells him “don’t ever do that again”, and that it gets easier and so on. (Like I said, my memory here is fuzzy at best) I think after that Ride pays for his things and leaves, but I have virtually no recollection of the end of the story.
I’m sure you can find the original post pretty easily by looking through the all-time top posts on r/DeathGrips. Honestly, I’d strongly recommend that you do, since my shitty retelling couldn’t come close to doing the original justice.
