    Fellas, Phish Heads, it's not a competition! Both Trey & Clapton rip it up!! Ok, maybe Trey a little harder, but still...:)

    Sure RJ wrote it but Clapton was the one who modernized it and popularized it for that matter. Almost every cover of the song is of his version, sorta like how SRV is eternally linked to Texas Flood even though it was a Larry Davis tune

    Am I imagining things or is there a quote floating around where Trey is joking about making a deal with the Devil and commenting that it's ok as long as you have a good attorney???

    • @nducati
      @nducati Před 9 měsíci +1

      phil lesh is quoted that trey told him that he had a pact with the devil, in the late 90s. the lawyer piece is not in the quote but i do like the way it sounds.

    This is outstanding, but nothing touches the Rawness of Clapton Voice and Es-335 when he performed this live in the late 60's!!!! Peace

  • @mileschris

    I agree, k1mmin9. Phish, in my opinion, has always been able to skate the line of rock/prog rock. Too much prog turns me off because the musicians seem determined to cram as many notes possible into each measure of music -- the musicality gets lost in those ridiculous displays of talent. Trey and Co. display terrific musicianship -- and extraordinary talent.

  • @eyephuctyormom
    @eyephuctyormom Před 15 lety

    trey somtimes falls back on a crutch riff or tries to play more notes than possable but he has got so much versatility and an enormous bag of tricks. u dont ever hear clapton playin that funky outer space sh--. his hands are too slow :P

    "Trey has it...all of it. He lacks nothing in music. You know, he jokes about having a pact with the Devil...I can't help but believe it. He's the best."

    wow, what jam4jezus meant was that if you know speck about rock and roll then you should know the origin of this song. if you think it's phish then you're about 50+ years off

    personally id rather listen to trey or jerry. or gilmour.
    they all excelent musicians each their own style and instantly recidnisable sound. gilmour has got SO much emotion. santana IS the A minor scale. jerry WAS the major scale, i mean u never even hear him play a note out of tune or out of place. i think jerry was better and he could sing really good too, but as a band, these guys are just rediculous. t

    Same pentatonic stuff that every open mic guitarist plays. Kind of boring, even if it feels okay.
