This is by far the best video I have found on raising wax worms. Best, meaning you showed more in depth than any other video. Most videos just show how to make the honey and grain mix then dump the worms in and that is it. I have tried twice and the first colony I didn't think anything hatched. After seeing you using the microscope camera I realized I may have had worms and didn't know it. I just looked at the colony I have going now with a jewelers loupe and there they are. Microscopic.!! I did notice that they have managed to get through the filter on the top of the container. So I set that container in a pan of water so hopefully the worms that escape won't make it too far. Thank you! Great video, I am going to use my worms for fishing,
This is so cool. I canât wait to see another update!!

I was wondering if you had any suggestions to warm him up to me and to get him out of his terrarium. PS. He has a bio active enclosure and many places to hide.
hi! how did the springtails do after you started moving the poop? did they start doing their job?
Unfortunately Diego stayed pooping in the corner lol. I added in some giant orange woodlice and they seem to be doing well in the tank, but I'm still scooping most of the poop out đ
I kept wax worms before for fishing but never got round to using them and I woke up one morning and they where moths

Just wondering, are morios and mealies their main diet?
Oh goodness yes, mine were popping out as moths so quickly! I let Drogo my Chahoua have some of the moths because he leaps across the tank at them, but this time I thought, 'right, lets try to breed them!' đ
What age do they start shedding at and do u need to help them every shed or is it by chance and how do u tell if its shedding
They usually start shedding pretty early (I'm not sure how early) you only need to help them if they have any stuck shed. They usually get kinda pale about a day before they shed. If you hear it shedding (you can usually hear then if you're awake while they do it, they can be quite noisy) just leave them alone, it will stress them out if you handle them

I have a question do you need to have a colony of wax worms or crickets or some other bug? cause Iâm thinking of getting leopard gecko. Im new to all this so I was just wondering.
You need to have feeders on hand at all times. Whether you breed them or not is up to you. Itâll save you money since youâll get free feeders. I wouldnât breed waxworms since theyâre unhealthy and treats only. Crickets arenât easy to breed. Roaches are a good feeder to breed
Cool, I almost bought some waxworms, but we decided to get the mealworms because they were cheaper and I didn't want to have waxworms for months as I slowly feed them(edit) to my lizards

Hi I was just wondering if you could help me with coping with a leap order gecko death
I might get a leaopord gecko soon and i dont really under atard the Heating what would you all recommend
YellowKid well there are a few things you can use! You can use a heat mat if you want something easy, or you can use a deep heat projector! A bit more care and money has to be put into the DHP, but a heat mat works as well!
@@plant2188 thanks
Halogen bulbs and Arcadiaâs deep heat projector are far more natural and beneficial than heat mats, although theyâre a bit more complicated to set up. It would probably be best to start with a heat mat and wait until you have more experience to use overhead heating. Although I strongly recommend looking into a halogen bulb or deep heat projector in the future. Hereâs a video about them czcams.com/video/dUJZ04sqhxk/video.html
No videos, that ive found. Yet' mentions these wax worms being a menous to bee keepers? As said on a video, that descuses possible solutions. to plastic in enviroment.
Can someone help me Iâm getting gecko I have his heat mat and humidity cave set up does the whole tank as it self need to have a certain temperature because atm the tank as whole is 21âąc it this okay?
The cold side is fine at 21, as long as the hot spot is 33-35. The ambient temperature on the warm side should be warmer than 21.
I highly recommend looking into a halogen bulb or Arcadiaâs deep heat projector, theyâre far more natural and beneficial than heat mats. Although halogens require a dimming stat such as herpstat, which is pricey.
How do i get my baby leapord gecko to stop running away from me. Just got her and never handled her
Instead of making a lump of the mix would it not be better to just cover the entire base with the mix and put everything on top of it?
I'm a beekeeper. I have millions of them. The eggs are about half the size of rice. Put it in a black container. They're easier to see.
There may have been not enough ventilation, hope that helps.

I know this is unrelated but my cresties nose and going up is turning grey, does this mean anything google says sheâs shedding but I want an answer from a real person and not just google pls help. Does it mean sheâs sick or is google right?
If his whole body is dull/white, heâs going to shed soon. It could also be stuck shed. If you think he has stuck shed, remove it with something like a damp q tip. If he isnât shedding and it isnât stuck shed, get him checked out at an exotic vet
Sorry for this being totally off topic, but can Leopard Geckos eat Pangea as their only diet like crested geckos? Iâm looking to get one, but my landlord said no bugs so Iâm just curious. (By the way, yes I give my crestie some earthworms every so often, but I mean just not crickets and a constant diet of bugs). Thanks!
Leopard geckos are insectivores and absolutely cannot eat pangea, they need a variety of live insects. Cresties shouldnât have earthworms, and should ideally get live insects once a week.
Alot of feeder insects are invasive species, responsible handling and breeding procedures should be standardised and promoted, for example boiling the waste substrate before disposal, cross contamination prevention so that microscopic eggs dont end up in your carpet and eventually make their way into the environment.
So idk if should bring this to a vet or should be worried about it but my leopard gecko closes her eyes all the time and too much she acts normal other than that but always keeps her eyes close should I bring this to a vet?
Does your gecko have really red eyes? Could it just be extra sensitive to light? Or does its eyes seem stuck together?
Leopard Gecko no I had changed out the eco I had in and the eco earth was very dusty and that must of irritated her she fine now
Hi
I know this doesnât have much with the video but I have a couple questions and would really appreciate it if someone in the comments could answer them. I was given an adult male leopard gecko from family because they couldnât take care of him and have a couple questions. (He has everything he needs and is safe and happy)
1) how often should I switch feeding him mealworms and crickets?
2) should I be gut loading the insects ?
3) should I have a night heat bulb on at night or is the heating pad ok for warmth?
1) It really doesnât matter, just try to have the diet mostly crickets, because theyâre healthier and easier to digest!
2) YES, YES, YES!! Gut loading is SO important! Without gutloading, your gecko will not keep on weight well, and the insects wonât be as nutritious!
3) It depends on how cold it gets at night. If your heat mat stays at 90-95 F and the ambient temperatures and cool side temperatures arenât TOO cold, then youâll be fine. If it is too cold, the you can use a ceramic heat emitter to increase ambient air temperatures
4) DO YOUR RESEARCH! Leopard gecko talk has made lots of videos on these topics and more, and thereâs lots of other sources too! So do your research!
@@plant2188 you nailed it. I couldn't have said it better. And yes do your research and gut load. and small CZcamsr here to looking for subs. :)

Okay here's my question. What cycle actually breeds? Is it the worms? The moths? What do the eggs look like?
My gecko sleeps in the day and comes out when I switch the light off. I have a CHE. Is there a way to get her to come out more in the day? Any help would be appreciated!!!đ
It's because leopard geckos (and I presume you mean leopard gecko when you say "gecko") are crepsucular, meaning they are the most active during twilight. It's natural for them to sleep all day and be up from dusk until dawn. You shouldn't force her to be awake during the day.
I wouldn't try getting her to come out during the day. A useful tip if you want to play/feed your gecko by hand is to adjust their daytime hours, or how long their lamp is on for. If you turn it on at 7am, turn it off at 7PM. By 8 she should be out and about or doing whatever, but she should have woken up by then and will be ready to play. Best of luck!
You have to know the species of gecko you have, and if that gecko is diurnal or nocturnal or crepuscular. If its a leopard gecko, youre just gonna make it angry and stressed by making it come out more during the day.
Yes, itâs a leopard gecko, and yes, I know they are crepuscular. I was just wondering if there is anything you can do without stressing them. Thanks
As the comments above says, Leopard Geckos are crepuscular, therefore they're most active dusk and dawn, however I usually recommend handling sometime from 6pm onwards. If you mean you want the gecko to come out more to bask during the day, make sure you've got a decent platform/hide for it to warm up on, and have a thermostat controlling that temp, so its not too hot hence why the gecko may be hiding from it.
I have a question my leopard gecko what it looks like on her front leg it looks like the a bone is stinking out
I would take it out and look at it and take it to the vet:)
Yeah best to take it to the vets.
Thank you Iâll tell my mom
