I am very glad that I looked this up, the auto shop I was gunna have do it said it would cost me $300 to fix. Because the part is “expensive” to replace. I found it online for like 20-40 bucks.

It is much easier to use a 10 mm socket to remove 4 bolts on the pistons ends attached to the body of the car. Once your done replacing the hinges simply open the window all the way and the bolt holes line right up, screw the bolts back in. Trying to pop the pistons is a total waste of time. Just did this too less than 20 minutes.

I'm a doctor not a mechanic! But after 5 hours, a little help from a drill and my neighbor, and most of all your video, it works! A tibit for the right side pulling the plastic piece off, there's a latch that you need to pull to the right that will release the casing so you can slide the rubber back around it. Thank you so much!

Helpful video and came handy as I lost the left hinge of my 2009 Escape when I was 400 km away from home and so I taped the rear window all around the hatch door to keep the rear window in place. Changed both hinges but the right torx screw was painfully stubborn and took me while to free that rotten hinge. Got me genuine hinges from Ford at CDN $118 each. Jobs done thanks for the video.

My hinges were not broken and the T-30 bolts refused to break loose.
I had to “break” the top half of the old hinge from the bottom with a cutoff wheel. I made certain to spray water on the hinge so the glass didn’t overheat.
Once split apart, I cutoff flush what the T-30 bolt was connected to, soaked it with pb blaster and worked it out the next day.
This isn’t for the faint hearted. IMO.
