    I had the gastric sleeve many years ago and developed severe acid reflux to the point that I got diagnosed with Barrett’s Esophagus. PCP and GI doctor told me to just take PPIS and endoscopys for the rest of my life to check for cancer due to Barrett’s. Thanks to videos like yours I’ve realized that a revision to gastric bypass is a much better option than omeprazole all my life with endoscopys. Thank you for this very informative video.

    • @annakuman9898
      @annakuman9898 Před 6 dny

      I think it benefits the surgeons in both ways to do the sleeve because there is no complications to have the surgeons overworked and they know the patients will come back to have the revision to bypass so that way the insurance or the patient will pay again but if the patient chooses prescriptions drug then the surgeons will still benefit. If a patient is morbid obese, have health issues like diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol, then why not have the bypass surgery done in the first place. 🤔 That’s exactly what I am going through now in 5 weeks and I heard some patients gets or develop ulcers few years after having the bypass surgery which something is not clear and is not explained why? Please don’t go for sleeve if you have the above sickness

    I thought that I wanted to do the Sleeve Gastric, but this video made me change my mind. I have a lot of health issues; one concerning my gut (IBS with GERD). Also, pre diabetes (use to be type 2 but I changed it by consuming more of a healthy diet). This includes suffering with inflammation of fibromyalgia, (or arthritis) insomnia and depression as well as anxiety. In addition, I stopped eating red meat several years ago and gluten a few months ago due to my gut issues. I don't consume dairy ( it makes me lactose intolerance and constipated) and pork either. 😑

    • @frankgilferd1292
      @frankgilferd1292 Před 5 lety +2

      Niko Jameson Paceley When a patient suffers from RA, you’re on a class of medications known as NSAIDS. These are very good medications which treat selling and inflammation. But a side effect is they may irritate gastric lining. In a bypass these meds are contra-indicated due to risk of developing a marginal ulcer.

    • @DelPinoWeightLossCenter

      There is another procedure called the Duodenal Switch that would be the best option.
      In patients who are heavy the sleeve has less complication than the gastric bypass. So you must balance between diabetes resolution and higher risk of complications with the RY gastric bypass

      Guy Loehr yeah, these surgeries are tools to help you eat a lot better, and a lot less, that’s a huge help, everything else is really on you, I have my ekg today, next month I should be having my sleeve done, I’m around 304 lbs, my max was 325, hopefully 185-205 by the end of it, my height is around 6’1, I think that’s a good weight range for my height, I’ll be cool at 205, and just build muscle along the way down there. Already lost about 20 lbs on my own, but I have hit a nasty plateau, but I’m still trying, just trying to get a head start. My friend is about two years out from his sleeve, went from 430-260, has kept it off, so it definitely works, but it really is a lifestyle change, avoid liquid calories, things that go down quick, protein is key, keeps you full without the massive amount of calories, carbs and sugar are lethal.

      If you want the most weight loss you should consider the duodenal switch or the modified duodenal switch

    Great…acid reflux, hiatal hernia, high cholesterol and BP controlled by meds, plus sleep apnea…sounds like it makes sense to consider the bypass, eh?

    How are you going to "automatically" burn more? What is it about chopping off half of your stomach that increases energy use in your body??

    • @JayPerez0982
      @JayPerez0982 Před 5 lety +2

      Click Clack Pow you consume less food cause u have less space so the body starts burning fat you already have for energy hence you lose weight

      Great question as this isn’t apparent. These surgeries are different than eating less because it changes your gut microbiome also and changes the amount of hormones produced.
      Your new weight set point will be lowered and your body will lose weight to reach this new Heather weight automatically ( assuming proper diet is followed)
