I would like to learn about why cats have favorite positions for sleeping on or beside you. Mine gets in between the crack between my legs facing my feet. Like she doesn't like to look at me. The previous one slept right next to my face, and if I rolled over on the other side, she'd walk across my shoulder and settle down on the other side. I think she felt safe hearing me breathing, and perhaps even seeing me when briefly waking up during sleep.
You might want to start your cat on a diet. He's looking a little too big for his own health. I would recommend talking to your vet about it.
