- Let's get things rolling today by sorting out the radiator and AC condenser, along with a crash bar, and maybe even some hinges... you didn't think we were going to use the old ones did you??
Last time got the budget "Holley" accessory drive sorted out (which is actually only ~1/3 Holley... hence the " ") and it's now time to fill in what precious little space we have left up front. I know the car may look large... but ... it's not, ok!
Like you, we can't wait to hear the LS fire up someday, so I hope you'll Subscribe and hit the notification bell so you won't miss that experience with us!

Don't worry about the time. Binky is on year 8 or 9 I think. Scotto from Hoonigan is at 16 years or so on one of his Audis. And I know of a few other youtube builds that are also super long.
Louvres: YES!
Triumph which had started from Leyland Motors is connected to Rover which was once owned by Ford. Why didn't you put a Coyote Motor in it? It at least has an oil-line connection to it.
@@beauxr.benoit1374 Would have loved to put a Coyote or even a Rover V8 in it! Size, availability and cost were what got us into an LS4 though. Do a quick google on Coyote vs LS size, there's a MASSIVE difference!
@@FanatikBuilds Anything from Dodge?
Dad's doing really well, thanks for the continued concern for him! ❤
He looks to be in very good spirits and is almost glowing happy.
Good to hear!
Great to hear.
Man, this algorithm is just insane.... how can this series not being watched by 4 million people?
Everyone's busy watching something else I guess! 😄 Cheers man! ✌️
Glad your dad's okay.
Had to go through the same thing.
No alcohol, no salt, no fast food, no processed foods, lots of rabbit food. Basically you have to avoid anything that taste good or is fun😳
"And no more happiness!" - Brian Regan
I don't think you have much of a choice so the louvers should be added. Yes, they look fantastic.
Always have a choice! May not be much of a choice, but there's always a degree of choice... or at least a choice between two of the same things... or no choice... yeah... 😕 I think they'd look good to though! 🎉
Yes to hood vents! This is a good way to add downforce (or remove upforce?) while getting all that hot air out of the engine bay.
Hmm... removing upforce or increasing downforce... we could open up a whole discussion on this one 🤔🤔
Here for upforce removing vents too!
What they said! Hood (or bonnet) vents ftw!
Upforce also known as lift
We all must be BOM fans! keep up the great work and your attention to detail is on par with Richard and Nic's work.
There's a good chance! Who the heck doesn't follow BOM???? 😎 Thanks man, means a ton ✌️
Agreed, from listening to catch the inside jokes to watching how each step of the build is carefully thought out, to the great little bits of humor included, Fanatik Builds and BOM are my two favorite series on YT.
Great work man. Louvres, yes! They will help visually by breaking up a large blank space and you're venting heat from the exhaust manifolds in addition to the rad. If you end up desperate for space, perhaps mount the fan on the front of the condenser to push, rather than behind the radiator to pull. As you have no shroud, you wouldn't suffer from lack of air movement when your fan isn't running and you're at low speed like you would on a pusher setup with a shroud. If you went that route, just be sure to seal the fan to the condenser and then seal the condenser to the rad. Just food for thought!
Thanks Man! Letting the heat from the manifolds escape quickly is another huge benefit you're right! I think there could be room in front for a fan, but with the condenser being shorter it might make sealing the fan to the rad complicated. Do believe we have room for it to pull (even with a shroud) so we'll try to see that path out - wish us luck!! 🤞😂👊
Top and side air exits a good idea. I believe the mid sixties Works Spitfire le Mans cars used Triumph Herald radiator grills in the side air exits. Just FYI....
Also, cold air feed to engine air inlet.
@@FanatikBuilds Why doesn't your twin brother ever speak?
The louvers and a pusher fan sound good.
@Autodidact ... Is THAT who he is? Been trying to figure it out... he does sometimes, but I'd really rather he didn't 😂
Great to see your Dad looking well, buddy! Cheers. Leigh.
Thanks Leigh, great hearing from you man! Hope all is well 🥳👊
This build just keeps getting better and better. Its great to see your dad being the boss again. 👍😁
It’s great to see boss man doing anything after all he’s been through! 💪🔥 thanks Steve!
Suggestion for welding nuts to holes. Use a counter sunk bolt (also called a flat head) to bolt it up for welding. This will center the nut to the hole very well.
You know, it's a technique I've heard of, but I always forget to throw in some counter sunk bolts to the order when we're getting hardware! I've got to remember to grab a range of sizes for this very purpose next time! Cheers Ross 👍
Hood Louvers will help get rid of excessive heat which will make your driving experience more enjoyable. So yes to the louvers.
Yep, liking the idea more and more Pedro, thanks! 👍👊
Just in time for my after work beer!
Awesome! It's always hard to know when's the best timing for everyone, so glad this works well for you Baron! 👊
Great to see a high quality thought out build amongst the mass of punched out half arsed builds on youtube. Keep up the good work.
Will definitely try our best!
Awesome project! Very well thought out build!
Thanks man, means a lot 😊🥳
Went for the like button before I even started the video. Amazing transformation of this car. Once done, I hope you guys really enjoy this thing.
Appreciate it man! Great having such awesome, involved viewers following our little project! 🙏 Can't wait to drive it but enjoying the build too ✌️ Cheers!
welcome back strangers, been antisipating new material, best wishes on Dads recovery ,keep up the excellent craftsmanship.
Cheers Jeff, glad we could get a new episode out before the weekend for ya! ✌️ Thanks for the best wishes for dad, will pass along 👊🙏
Great to have you back, and good to see Dad progressing.
Appreciate it Christopher - means a lot 👊✌️
Another great episode guys. Great to see you back and hear your Dad's doing well
Appreciate it Dan! We're really grateful to see him continue to do well! 🙏🥳
Hello, little by little, the bird makes its nest…. Always a pleasure to follow your «journey »…. Thanks a lot…
We're eating the elephant one mouthful at a time! 🥳 Glad you're enjoying it Xavier! ✌️
so....no consideration of ground effects tunnels vis a vis F1 to reduce lift... Excellent episode...you production and editing are very very good.
Oh it was all considered Jim! Likely will do some ground effects anyways as there will still be air flowing under there, but angling the rad forward was the only way to make it all fit 👌 Cheers! 🙏
@@FanatikBuilds yes a scoop/front air dam will funnel air to the radiator... those underfloor tunnels are the tricky bits. I recall a fellow building a D Sports Racer and he copied directly an Indycar underflloor.
@@jimf5160 We’re thinking a semi-flat underbelly is in the the cards too, but ultimately it’s not a racer so I’m more concerned about accessibility for maintenance! Something removable could work though, maybe even plastic… 🤔
@@FanatikBuilds I agree. A flat bottom will be much more practical. You can always add an upswept rear diffuser like some performance cars, if that seems reasonable. I complete agree re removable for service. I am not sure how plastic will hold up, unless you have access to what manufacturers use. My last race car, the Swift DB2 had a flat aluminum floor ..and it was easy to clean....but show nicks and scratches a lot...and that was never on the street.
Take the 79-80 spitfires radiator mounting into consideration. This was a lean forward design with an electric fan and a scoop/dam to grab the air.
Perfect! Hadn't even realized that was on an angle too! I knew it just made sense somehow 😎👌
Yes for sure vent that heat out, on the hood or the sides of the fenders .
Thinking it's going to be the wise choice!
This is one of those builds that when it's done, I could rewatch this entire series over again! So good to have your dad back up and at it.
Haha, thanks man, glad it's enjoyable 😊 Yes, we're really grateful to see him doing well! 🥳
Nice work! Hinges are always a headscratcher for me.
Oh you'll LOVE the next episode!! 😂 Just about done myself in on these blessed things!!
I have an old, largely rotten GT6 bonnet with louvers. Thinking about using the side ones on my MKIV. No plans for the top ones.
Dibs!! 😉
Looking great mate. Clearing the bumper sounds like a later problem ;)
Cheers Jeff! Lol, yep I think what we've got planned will work out fine! 👌💪🥳
I'm happy to see you guys back at it,and Pops looks healthy. This is my #1 favorite build.
Honoured to be your #1! Thanks man 😊🥳
I absolutely LOVE this build... you two surpass Binky in my opinion.... looks way cooler, and I bet it will run and drive better also.
Geeeesh! That's an honour Tyler, thank you very much 😊✌️✌️
Hey that's me! 😅 Sorry about the 5 series hinges not working out for you! In my setup I plan to attach the bumper to the bonnet so that hinges forwards as one unit (that's right, it's still not finished!). Is it the chrome bumper or the ally box that they don't clear?
The best place to put louvres on Spits/GT6s is on the side of the bonnets, but higher up than the racers had it. Will see if I can find a pic. That's been determined as the lowest pressure point around the bonnet using string testing.
Great to see this build coming along, and great to see your old man back with us 👍
This is the most effective vent location:
www.triumphexp.com/phile/8/70720/20160925_103014.jpg
I'm afraid I had not connected the dots that you follow this project Simon! Thanks for blazing the trail on the hinges, I saw your video years ago and knew it was something I wanted to try. Went a slightly different route in the long run but our chassis and layout is also quite different from yours! Hope you'll enjoy how it ends up ✌️🥳 ... that's good to know thanks, don't know if you've seen Markus Bewley's GT6 before? but he's got some vents that I think are exactly where you're referring to. Not so sure if I'm in love with the placement to be honest, but it is definitely important to keep in mind pressure zones so I appreciate the tip! 🙏
@@BiTurbo228 Hey, CZcams hid your comment for some reason, guess the link? Who knows… anyway thanks for that man, I’ve seen that particular car before and have heard that’s the best spot… forgive me though… I’m just not sold on the looks! 😬 Our firewall will be modified so thinking under hood air flow may be different enough to help us. We’ll give it all more thought 🤔 gonna need coffee for this one! Cheers Simon!
@@FanatikBuilds Weird! Yeah I can get the aesthetic point of view. Even if that's the most effective place for them, doesn't mean that there aren't other places they'll work just fine. If mine was working I'd offer to do some flow testing for you!
@@FanatikBuilds Interested in what you guys come up with! And yeah, I know Markus' car! I blame him for mine taking so long to get done :D I'd initially planned to just use the rotoflex rear end on mine, but his rear suspension setup got me interested in making my own, which led directly to me turning mine into a unibody. So yeah! It's his fault my car isn't running :D
For me, no louvers.., love the classic original smooth lines of the hood...best wishes for the whole family!
Totally get where you're coming from there man! 👍 The idea would be to stick close to what MK1/2 GT6s had from factory, so would still look very original ... no idea why they removed them for the MK3 anyway! 🤔 ... thanks, best back to you and yours!
YESSSSS!!! NEW CONTENT! Glad everyone is doing well and the project is advancing.
Thanks again man, appreciate it! 🙏🥳
YES! I’m glad to see this video today. Been wondering how the project is coming along
Glad we could get it out in time for the weekend! Have a good one man! 🥳✌️
Like the louevers... but need a couple more rows. And... Thanks you for keeping your cutting guards on your cutters!
Yes the exact spacing isn't what I imagine but it's the idea! MK1/2 GT6's louvers would be my ideal. 👌 Oh I HATE it when people remove the guards!!
Great to see you back Michael and especially good to see your dad looking so well.
Thanks David, great to hear from you and I appreciate the thoughts for dad, means a lot! 😊✌️
big yes on the hood vents, I also feel like this is a pivotal episode and really cool 😂
Hey dude! Thanks for the input, really liking the idea the more I think of it! ... lol... pivotal... can't believe I didn't think of that one! 😆 Enjoy the weekend my friend 🥳✌️
Good to see some progress and that your dad seems to be doing well. Have you really been working on this for 7 years? Wow.
Hey Jay! Yeah... it was June 2014 when we picked it up... so very close to 8 actually 😬 ... would've been finished a while ago if we hadn't done the "restomod" or whatever one wishes to call this, BUT... we would have missed out on so much! Hope you're doing well man, all the best 🥳👊
Such a great project. Really enjoying how you problem solve. Great to see your dad back and looking well! I vote in support of louvres. All hail the algorithm!
Thanks man, glad you find it enjoyable - good hearing from ya! 🥳
Great to see you and dad back on the case. Take it easy guys and everything will work well.
Cheers David! We're really grateful he's continuing to do well! 🙏🥳
Great update! Good to see your Dad is doing well! :)
Louvres yes! But try to have them eject away from the screen, if you have an oil hose fail at speed it ends up all over your windscreen.
Appreciate it Andrew! Good idea on the "spray" related issue ... might be a helpful indicator if something's amiss though! 😂✌️
Definitely go with the hood louvres!! I owned 2 GT6’s and the one with the hood louvres ran cooler! Plus it will resemble the old Jaguar! Thank you for such an awesome project to watch!!
Great feedback, really helpful Brad! You're very welcome, thanks so much for the help and encouragement! 🥳👊
@@FanatikBuilds the original fiber board transmission tunnel cover did little to keep the engine heat from the interior. Great in the winter! Any way to get that heat outa there will be a plus! And consider, you have 2 more heat creating cylinders than original!
@@bradpage8967 Yeah the new tunnel will be steel and have sound and noise insulation so that should help! Hoping to make it a nice 3 season car! Cheers man 😎
Great progress and good to see your dad looking so well.
Thanks Gary, really appreciate it! 👊✌️🙏
I do so like your methods of presentation and the humour you inject ..... If I were to attempt anything like this hood fitment I would make such a pigs ear..... Well done chaps ---- feel a sense of pride!!!
Really appreciate that Ian, it takes about as long to make the episode as it does to do the work IN the episode, so I'm glad you enjoy it all! 🙏✌️
@@FanatikBuilds Yes, I enjoy ALL your episodes! Greetings from this 68yr old in Scotland by the way.
All the best from Canada sir 🇨🇦 !
I like your attention to detail. It's very good to see a well engineered solution. It's pretty nice to see things coming together. Bloody nice work.
Thanks Cameron! So much to think about ... many other things not mentioned in this video are also going to live up there ... it's all coming together though so I'm grateful things are working out! Cheers and enjoy the weekend 🥳✌️
Great stuff! Keep them coming
Thanks James, will try our best to! 🥳✌️🔥
Came across this build a couple years ago when I was dreaming about getting a GT6 to refurbish myself and every once in a while I come back here and with each video it just gets better and better, can't wait to see the finished product
Thanks Matthew, glad you're still enjoying what we're up to! 🥳
So great to see dad back! Hope he is doing well! As far as the dust/fan issue I used a box fan and a furnace filter attached to the front to pull away fumes and keep the dust down. Give it a try!
Thanks Jacob, he is indeed doing well! Appreciate the tip, that sounds helpful! 👌🙏🥳
I louvre the idea of some vents on the bonnet
😂👌
Clearly this man can't be trusted.
Glad to see a new episode from you guys.
Great to hear your dad is doing well.
Cheers from the norwegian chap 😊
Great to hear from you buddy! Hope all is well your end 🎉🥳✌️
@@FanatikBuilds Yep I'm good 😊
Brilliant - great to see Dad in action 👍 . How big is the pile of scrap in the back yard? 😆 My personal taste? Don't put the louvres in, but do what works best... Mike
It is indeed Mike, thanks! 🙏 Haha, growing! Still got some Crown Vic parts back there from three years ago 😂 Probably should take it all out for recycling soon... thanks for the input on the Louvres, the idea would be very similar to factory Mk1 GT6's but I get the desire to keep it clean all the same. Cheers man!
17:01 “MAKE THE NOISE,” Nick Blackhurst would be happy.
And yes to the hood louvres. I’ve been following this build for years, and each episode gets better and better. Keep up the good work and I look forward to seeing it on the roads in Ontario at some point.
Haha, thanks man! Appreciate the support and encouragement over the years! Can't wait to get it on the road and attend some shows! 🥳👊
Great to see your Dad is on the mend and doing well. Loving the build, hope the algorithm gets its act together and starts pushing your fantastic content more. All hail the algorithm.
Appreciate the thought for Dad, Matthew - thanks! 🙏 Ha! That would be awesome, indeed #allhailthealgorithm !!
Awesome to see more progress! I finally got my truck in a finished-ish state which makes all the work worth it. Btw the Louvres are definitely the way to go, they would look awesome on that thing
Hey buddy! Congrats, that's a big milestone - enjoy using your project for us ok!! 🥳 Yep, I'm liking the idea the more I think about it! 👌👊
@@FanatikBuilds Yeah, can’t wait to see this thing cruising down the road!
Thanks for the tip showing the use of a wooden round to space the frame rails, effective and inexpensive compared to steel.
Haha, hadn't thought of it as a "tip" but glad it could help Paul! More a means of "having it lying around" and "needing something quickly" 😂🥳✌️
It's great to see you and your dad back, another great video keep up the good work. P.S. Hood vents for sure win win situation.
Glad we could finally get another episode out for you guys! Yeah, I'm liking the idea more and more - cheers man! 🥳✌️
I suggest side vents/louvers over hood louvers. No rain, leaves, gravel collecting on top of the engine. No sun bleaching and cracking rubber lines and wiring. Also depending on the size of fender lip the side is a low pressure area, while most hood areas are higher pressure.
I wait so long for these video's - worth it as usual! Awesome work my Canadian friends!
Glad it's worth the wait Andrew! Hopefully not as long of one for the next time though 🥳✌️ Cheers buddy 🇨🇦
That hood/bonnet thing on its own would crush me. Car is looking amazeballs and I very much look forward to seeing it rip a bit. It's going to be mad when its done.
It's a large, heavy piece for being part of such a small car! Really looking forward to just opening it again and not lifting it off all the time! Thanks man, can't wait either 🥳👊
So great seeing you two well and productive 👍🏻🙂👍🏻
Thanks man, it's all coming along! Slowly... but coming along! 🥳 Enjoy the weekend ✌️
Definitely hood louvers, so much more than look Cool they will help it be Cool 😎
My thoughts exactly Dion! 🥳💪🔥
so pleased to you both back and dad doing well .. i wish this was weekly... awesome engineering love watching this build ...total respect from the uk
Haha, I'd love to do it weekly and I'm sure it could help the channel grow faster! Just don't want to compromise on the quality ... it's a tough one. Going to try to get the next one out in the next month though, I've fallen off that pace and need to get back to it! Cheers Jay, all the best from Canada! 🥳🇨🇦
Selfish me would like to see a new video every week, but human me understand that it’s a hobby for you and your dad. So, take whatever time you need, as I understand how hard it is and how long it takes to film and edit a video. The quality of the work you do , to me, is on par with those crazy blokes, Bad obsession motorsport. Keep up the good work!
Thanks Alain, glad you're enjoying what we're up to! It's taken over a month to pull this episode together (just the video, not the work) and that's actually doing it full time if you can believe it. The scripting takes the longest. Not sure if I can continue like this much longer sadly as we're not growing fast enough, but I know an increased upload frequency would help. Just difficult to maintain the level of standards while speeding up the process! Really appreciate the compliment though, it means a great deal to me. 😊
This car will be very fast and should handle very well too! Love the amount of thought going into every step. I think hood louvers are a great idea. The ls takes up quite a bit more room.
Here's hoping! 🤞😂 Yes the LS is big, but ironically it's actually smaller in some ways than the original engine. Straight 6 vs V8 for ya ... also, it + the transmission are the same weight but more rear biased with lower center of gravity 👌 ... in theory, all good things! Cheers Brian
Having done a few V8 swaps, the biggest lesson is, get the heat out…definitely add louvers!
My Sunbeam Tiger is getting louvers and a much larger “angled” radiator with additional ducting and air dam…hopefully it will cool better than stock. Gonna find out…
Love how you are progressing and Great to see Dad is getting better and enjoying the “play”!!
Thanks Bill, it's sounding like a good addition all 'round! Hope it'll work out well for you too and enjoy your Tiger! 👍🥳
Excellent build. Those little cars are so nice looking and what you’re doing is taking it to a new level. Can’t wait to see more.
Thanks Richard, agreed on them being very nice looking little cars, very underrated IMHO! Hope you'll enjoy what's to come 👍👊
Just found you. Wild build.
Doing great work here. Fabulous work if considering your tiny space and lack of tools.
I'm putting GM L61 in a MGB and I plan on copying several things you have done. Thanks.
FYI: Welding in t-shorts not way to go. Splatter is nothing compared to the UV waves your swimming in.
I'm in South Carolina and its slightly warm here in the summer but just got to wear it...
Such entertaining videos. Thanks for putting so much effort into the production of your shows. They're great to watch.
Glad your Dad is doing so well too.
The progress looks brilliant. Put me down as another tick in the box for louvres 👍
Excellent stuff and always worth the wait. Eager to see more now.
Cheers.
Appreciate it Guy, it takes weeks to pull these episodes together (as in weeks just to script and edit) so I'm glad it's worth it! Appreciate the continued thought for dad too, means a lot to us all and we're really grateful to see him doing well. 🙏 Take care and hope all is well your end man 🥳👊
I'll call this one I love it when a plan come together.....I hope 😆👍....your other half is hilarious....😊👍🙏
One can only hope buddy! 😂 Thanks, enjoy the weekend! ✌️
I'm pleased that you invest the time in safety and I'm a great fan of you taking parts from other cars such as the BMW hinges which makes sense and spares us the agony of watching trial and error cutting, welding and general bracketeering.
I rather skipped through you recounting the radiator hose issue. I found an excellent hose manufacturer in GB to make exactly the right sizes [shout out to ROOSE MOTORSPORT - no affiliation] who were very happy to make silicone hoses with a dull OEM finish. I'm fairly sure that this will fool most anoraks looking under the bonnet:
Keep up the excellent work and do wheel out / dust off your vintage Dad from time to time, he seems a very fellow (my age).
Thanks Andrew - safety is a big deal for me, and I know that's kind of rich seeing as the car isn't exactly ideal for an accident, but it doesn't hurt to incorporate at least a few bits of tech that have come about in the last 5 decades! 😂 Appreciate the tip on that company, may not need custom parts, and shipping from GB is pricey, but good to have the info all the same 🙏🙏 Cheers!
That is going to be one really nice car, just wish you where building it for me lol...
Haha, thanks Lenny, it's been so long, sometimes it's easy to forget that we'll actually get to drive it someday! 🥳
Glad to hear Dad's ok! You know, you're definitely doing an awesome job!
Appreciate it Vincent, we're really grateful he's doing well! 🙏
I'm enjoying this build so much I don't want you to finish it...looking forward to the next seven years!
No worries Neil, there's a way to go still! 😬👌💪
Awesome to see you and your dad back it it! Love the RA magnets on your toolbox, looks like mine.
Haha, thanks Stan, part of the joy of not using the original parts! Even living in Canada, we're still saving a fortune on shipping by avoiding the Atlantic ocean! 👌😂
Very impressive fabrication skills!! And your welding finesse is simply incredible!!! Thanks for a superb video!!
Always more to learn but thanks Lynn, we're happy with how it's coming together! 🥳
You guys are ding a beautiful job. I love spitfires and GT6's. I appreciate you guys using the correct safety equipment.
I am extremely happy to see you back at it! SO gratifying, interesting and captivating to watch this build evolve!! But the most wonderful thing of all is your father is back at it with you once again!! Congratulations to the both! Of course the finished product is always eagerly awaited but the Journey is what makes it all happen!
prayers and blessings to you both and your family and thank you for such great content and tutorial!!
♥️
Really appreciate it Robert, couldn't imagine finishing this project without him - very blessed things ended up how they have! 🙏 All the best to you and yours! 🥳
Very clever use of standard tools to make your custom stuff. Well done!
Necessity is the mother of getting stuff done! Or however that goes ... 😉 Thanks man!
Thanks for coming back. How in the world an this be your first project is a question I continue to ponder.
Haha, I've built stuff for years, but this is the first project of such magnitude!
That crash bar would be stronger if you put bobbins in the holes and welded them to the front face, then used longer bolts to attach the whole assembly. The big holes in the front face weaken it quite a lot, even though you are going to add braces to the ends.
Absolutely! Intended to do it that way, but I've seen this design on a bunch of factory cars so thought I'd trust their engineering teams more than myself! Seems like many vehicles don't even have the crash bar extend that far out the sides of the frame though... this was one aspect we really wanted , as it's the small overlap crashes that do the most damage and once the wheel starts to move there's very little space left before the firewall and our feet. 👊✌️
Great to see you and your recovered dad back in the garage 😊 Love the build content and humour of your videos. A good call with using cantilever hinges for the bonnet. 👍 Gas struts too?
Thanks man, glad you enjoy it! Hmm, gas struts eh, I don't know, sounds like a good idea 😉😉👌
It's always a welcome surprise to have a new video in my subscriber list :)
Glad to provide some content! Enjoy the weekend ahead man! 🎉🥳✌️
It's just beautiful to see this project progress!
Though you've fixed so many flaws on this that the only thing still British about it is the general shape.
Haha, at least that's the best part to keep! 😂👊 Will miss the sound of the straight-6 though, they may not have much power (in comparison) but they sure sound nice!
Thanks for sharing this journey!!
So glad to see your dad doing so well 🫶🫶🫶

Thanks for sharing this awesome build ✊✊✊✊🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
@@juanenriqueperezreyna8180 Cheers man!
The innovative thought and the subsequent planning that you boys put in prior to execution of each of your original-GT6-design improvements puts this particular example a level ABOVE perfection in my very humble opinion…-And despite your episodes being comparatively rare, so is gold, which continues to perform extremely well after two millennia!👌😊
Very kind of you Phil 😊 Hope you're doing well man! 👊👊
Yes. You need the louvers. That’s a good spot as there is low pressure in that area...nice work!
Thanks man, good to know! 👌💪
How about something like the Saab 99/900 bonnet hinge that allowed the bonnet to move forwards before flipping open? Glad to see your father back again 👍🏻
Next episode will cover a bunch of hinge geometry wormholes we've been down! One of my thoughts was a design not unlike that Saab ... but I ultimately wanted one fluid motion to open it, not a two-step process. This actually seems to be working out really nicely so I can't wait to show more! Thanks Peter, appreciate the concern for him! 🙏👊
The BMW E30 hood hinge slides forward, pops up, then the hood tilts forward.
Yes yes yes! Love this build. Keep doing awesome
Cheers Michael, will give it our best shot! ✌️🥳
I admire your methodical build process. A long time ago, with considerably less skill, I dropped a ZZ430 clone in a TR6. It has a Muncie 4 speed, a Corvette 3.55 posi rear end, and the driveshaft was about three feet long. If it would have had 200hp it would have been overpowered, but with well over 400hp it was a monster-anything over a quarter throttle in first it would just light the tires. Full throttle in third gear the car would accelerate really hard, then at at about 60mph, when it came on the cam, it would spin the tires through 70. I had to snicker a little while watching your thoughtful fabrication of the front crash-bar,…if your car turns out anything like mine did, the front end will be the least likely part damaged in a crash. Your car will likely burn rubber at the drop of a hat, which is sporty in any car, but your car is very short-coupled, and that means moments after stepping on the gas, the car will be unrecoverably sideways. My little car could get away from me in a split second and ultimately that was its undoing. Think of a motorcycle that easily wheelie out from under you-it requires driving very carefully. Cool project, though.
It's going to look so sweet when it's finished. I love the stance, the wheel/tyre choice, the exhaust, the overrider removal... It's such a pretty car. Can't wait to see it finished (it's ok I'm patient - it's not quite at Binky levels - yet!)
I drove my friends GT6 back in the 90's - I loved that car - he didn't keep it long, I was gutted when he sold it. Can't imagine what it would have been like with a V8 in it!
Thanks man, we really can't wait to see it done - a very underrated car that cleans up beautifully with a few changes! Haha, don't think *anyone* is at Binky level other than BOM themselves! I'll let them reserve the right to that though ... probably easier all round! 🥳 We've got a grand total of 5mins seat time in a GT6 (this one!) so I too am excited to see what it's like with the LS - cheers Valisk! 👊👊
Love when you put out a video and you don’t gloss over the hardships!
It's how we all learn! Thanks Benjamin 🥳👊
Yes for bonnet louvres! 👍
Thanks for the input Chris! 🥳✌️
Your level of tenacity is invigorating.
Long road (7 years) but just look at the results.
We do have to step back from time to time and take in how far we've come! Lots to do, but plenty already crossed off the list (thank goodness)! 👌🥳 Cheers Craig 👊
As a big fan of Project Binky, I’m loving what you’re doing. I’ve just marathoned all your series and can’t wait for the next instalment. As an Aussie, I have to ask… have you seen “Home Built By Jeff”? Very, very similar to what you’re doing and you guys could bounce off each other. Keep up the good work, keep the content coming, and hope your Dad is doing well.
I have a 67 spitfire I have been restoring for several years. Every nut and bolt and complete body strip inside and out. Had Kevin Allen racer and builder do my engine (trans, tricked out with gt6 gears) overdrive unit and rear diff with 3:73 ratio). Hope to complete this year. We did a crank fires edis ignition from ford running into a Mega jolt unit for fine tuning, HS4 SU carbs built by Joe Curto, and cam by TSI. It sounds strong ! By the way it is a small crank 1296. Your project has inspired me to get going on mine again. Thanks for your videos!
Sounds awesome, enjoy working on it Tony, glad we could serve as some motivation! 😎✌️
progress! whoot! love the build. your dad looks great. good work all around :)
Thanks man! Glad to hear from ya! 🙏🥳✌️
Nice fabrication. Mr. Blackhurst must be proud!
Means a lot man, I hope so! 😊
i like bonnet vents i think they work and look great ! what they do is let rain water and leaves in !
True! Another viewer mentioned using a duct under the louvers to direct water away from sensitive areas... so maybe something like that is in order! 👌👊
Great work guys!
Thanks man, great hearing from you! Have a good weekend! 🥳✌️
I louvre the idea!
I can’t believe I didn’t think of this one! 😄✌️
Just like there was an American version of "The Office" the same holds true here - "Project Binky" from the U.K. is reflected here. Don't get me wrong though, I'm not bashing this channel. I love what they're doing here just as I love watching the Mini "Binky" come together. Keep up the good guys.
We try hard not to be a carbon copy of BOM, but there are similarities to the builds and our humour so it's hard to avoid at times! Plus a lot of our viewers also watch Binky so a mention towards them now and then seems appropriate 👌 Thanks Jon, we'll try our best!
