    Jörg: regarding blueprints. What you could do is dismantle the individual parts, put each on a piece of large paper and draw out stencils around the individual parts. Scan them and then upload them somewhere.
    That way, people can just print out the stencils and used them as a guide for cutting out the parts out of wood.
    It doesn't have to be an exact engineering blueprint.

    • @Slingshotchannel

    • @kniefi
      @kniefi Před 6 lety

      JoergSprave a high resolution photo with a ruler next to it would be enough.
      For the paper - you could just glue together several Din A4 pages with slight overlap.
      Anyone interested could then match the rulers cm in a graphics program and scale it, then print it to scale with multiple pages.
      Almost every printer supports that.
      Would be great if we could get some blueprints that way.

      @@rangernolen8291 its easier to craft a bow actually lol all you need is wood and fibrous type plants that make string fibres and off you go 🤣🤣🤣 guns are easier to use and easier to learn and easier to arm an army with but easier to make? No take a look at the amount of parts a gun has compared to a bow

    • @rangernolen8291
      @rangernolen8291 Před 5 lety +1

      @@bluehornet197 I'm talking about early guns such as aurquebuses and later muskets (based on the time period referenced). To be fair, while bow materials are easier to come by, they take a long time to build. You need time for the resin drenched flax to cure. But by far the longest part was whittling the bow stave, which can take up to four years in the method of the era. So while modern guns are certainly much more complex then bows, muskets only had 9 to 10 parts (Compared to the bows 5 to 6) that were all relatively fast and reasonably simple to make, and guns ,when properly maintained, could be used throughout a war and passed on down generations while with a bow the heavy use of war simply wore it down comparatively quicker. Last but not least how hard a gun is to learn. They were especially simple to shoot (volley firing being the tactic with the weapon) but harder to reload. Although muskets required daily training for months to be a fast firing crack squad, almost anyone could learn and use a gun as opposed to the near lifetime of training bowmen would go through developing their muscles and learning how to accurately fire a bow (plus mass firing formation).
      So that's why I'd say muskets and especially modern rifles (even a simple hunting one) would still find its prime place in warfare.

    • @pychohobo1832
      @pychohobo1832 Před 5 lety

      I disagree.
      The first firearms were made because they were noisy.
      They were not accurate. They were not safe. They had less range. And less power.
      A good bow, or crossbow was faster and a lot more accurate.
      The advantage a hand canon had was it was noisy. This would scare horses and men.
      And
      There was repeating crossbow at that time. They were used in China. I have not seen evidence of use in Europe, but it's possible.
      Now for the downside.
      The Chinese repeating crossbow would shoot many arrows down range
      But
      You trade off power for multible shots.
      In comparison it like trading a single shot 30-06, for a 10 shot magazine feed semi auto .25. Both can kill but a good winter coat stops the .25.
      On the other hand, most people will keep thier heads down to a full Auto BB gun. It's not gonna kill you, but it causes pain and....... can shoot your eye out. LoL

    I'm pretty sure the wooden stake thing only works if you put it through the heart. Now, depending on where you get your vampire lore from, if you were to tip the bolts with silver, that would be a different story, and yes, I know silver is for werewolves, but that's why I said depending on where you get your vampire lore from, because according to some stories and legends, silver kills vampires too, like in the Blade comics, for example.

    I'm a writer, and for one of my stories, I armed some of my characters with lever-action crossbows. They would have to work a lever mounted on the side three times, which would activate a ratchet-like set of gears, then load a bolt, and fire, releasing all the torque, and begin again. It took longer than a conventional crossbow, but took much less muscle power and was more convenient.

    Jorg you could put bearings on the front and rear of it. Attach string to the front of the pump handle, run them towards the front of the bow. Around the bearings to the back bearings and have it pull on either side of the bow string to cock. Just put it back forward before shooting or the pump handle will yank back to the front position. Similar to your slingshot with skateboard bearings. The bearings increase the work of the "winch" by x2. So two sets could possibly get x 2.5 the work. So with the 50lb draw bow you could get the fast shooting Meter per second result of maybe a 100 or 125 lb bow and still pump it with 1 hand! I dont have an engineering degree either but 3d blueprints are my specialty! Anything you make from wood, I can make from plastic. Send it to your mold manufacturers to cast the first aluminum mold. Or just 3D print the products you want! Can do ABS, Nylon PetG, Polycarbonate ETC. Let me know man!

    !!! you can have some rubber pulling the pump back with 50% of the draw weight
    then you have to push it forward (add a lock for it in the front)
    this way you can get 2x the power for the same effort but back and forth
    that would be quite efficient

      Same idea

    • @massimodistasi9514
      @massimodistasi9514 Před 6 lety +4

      A more powerful bow comes from a more powerful pull. A band that has a draw weight of 10 pounds won’t draw as hard as 1 that’s needs 30 pounds to draw(most of the time) so yeah with a fire grip you may be somehow able to help you draw a heigher weight

    • @tomcripple8165
      @tomcripple8165 Před 6 lety +4

      Yeah I was thinking an angled foregrip and a foldable stock (to rest the against the should as you pump it (pull the string). If it were made out of an appropriate metal I could realistically see this as a small game hunting crossbow with a large audience.

    • @cedricc.306
      @cedricc.306 Před 4 lety

      It has been a long time since I did physics but, if I remember correctly, in order to have a leverage effect you need to have a rotation move, you won't get anything for a translation move even with a angled foregrip. That how the RX Adder works by the way.

    Jorge... I have fired thousands of rounds from a Remington 870, Mossberg 500 and 88 and an Ithaca Model 37... all pump 12 gauge shotguns. I grew up using my Father's Mossberg 500 / 12 gauge, starting when I was around 10 years old, the others, belonging to myself and friends as I got older, 4 years in the Military, then 25 years in Law Enforcement. The smoothest being the Mossberg and the Ithica, then the Remington, but... all of them had negligible "Draw" weight once the slide release catch was depressed, with probably no more than 1 or 2 pounds of force needed the to push the round into the chamber! My Father's Mossberg 500 / 12 gauge was SO smooth... you could point the barrel up and depress the slide release and the slide would drop and release a shell onto the feed ramp...then tip the barrel down and the slide would ride forward and lock the shell into the barrel, from just the weight of the slide... Ready to ROCK and ROLL! Gives me Goose bumps just remembering!

    • @kniefi
      @kniefi Před 6 lety +1

      Jak Silver i bet they could - but you would have to "pump" two times the distance then...
      And considering the already large draw of the bow it would be rather impractical.

    • @jaksilver3656
      @jaksilver3656 Před 6 lety

      kniefi : use a compound cossbow, which they already make? But yes, the distance is a consideration. Perhaps if both the compound crossbow and a longer body length?

    • @wa7john
      @wa7john Před 5 lety

      Perhaps a screw jack (force multiplier) and a pump action that would engage and disengage for a multi-pump way to bring string back. Say 150lbs pull divide by 3 pumps to bring back string is 50lbs force each..I think

      Depends on the setting. In some, it respawns provided it isn't killed while in its coffin. In others, a stake through the heart only paralyzes the bloodsucker. Nevertheless, sticking it full of bolts is going to hurt like hell, even if it _is_ undead.

Both me and my brother have gearbest knifes, and they have these inbus-like star shaped screws keeping the blade in place. Currently there is absolutely nothing wrong with the knifes, but in case even 1 of the knifes would loose up i'll be very happy to have this set. Plus a single screwdriver in the Netherlands generally exceeds the price of this set.
