She did a great job with this performance. She doesn't have a big scene in which she can cry or laugh hysterical, so she had to go very subtle, with little movements of face and eyes. She deserved the Oscar nomination!
Kenneth Russell Interesting, even though I was referring to this particular scene, but for this overall movie, I like how that fact managed to come across, too.
Great scene! Jane Alexander was superb. Mitchell was not her character's favorite son. Hoffman is terrific, the way he keeps digging for more details, like a pig after truffles.
The one logical flaw in this movie is when Hoffman tells Redford he was with this woman for 6 hours. No way he would have been there that long. He'd be lucky if he was there 30 minutes before she kicked him out.
Weird - My Dad has a sofa with the EXACT same fabric pattern as the one Hoffman’s sitting on. When you sit on it, take naps, etc. for 20 years you get to know it VERY well. I guess I should have been a production designer, noticing the upholstery BEHIND the great Dustin Hoffman in one of his best roles. Oh well.
Perfect filmmaking! Perfect script, directing, acting. Look at how simple it is. Basic lighting. Camera on tripod. Nothing fancy, no gimmicks, nothing distracting. Just a window to watching these amazing people work.
it was added to the AFI's 100 Years... 100 Movies (10th Anniversary Edition) list at No. 77. AFI also named it No. 34 on its America's Most Inspiring Movies list and No. 57 on the Top 100 Thrilling Movies. The characters of Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein shared the rank of No. 27 (Heroes) on AFI's 100 Years... 100 Heroes and Villains list. Entertainment Weekly ranked All the President's Men as one of its 25 "Powerful Political Thrillers
Cant you people pay a little more attention to the audio in the clips you post? At least normalize it to some decent level. We dont all use headphones to listen to these clips.
2018 update....still no indictments out of Benghazi. Despite the desperate attempts of the republicans. Yeah, things got seriously messed up, but Jim Jordan and his hacks were fishing. Fishing HARD.
@@rgwak … and those same hacks seem seriously uninterested in getting to the bottom of what happened on January 6, 2021, when our own government was under attack.

Jane Alexander is an incredible actress. You must see her in Testament. It's a very difficult film to watch, but well worth the effort.
Both brilliant actors, under the wings of a great director, supported by a terrific screenplay!
Bravo Alexander, Hoffman, Pakula and Goldman. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🍾💫
She's a fabulous actress.
She's a fabulous actress
They both worked together three years later, in " Kramer vs. Kramer."
Chris, she also worked with Redford in "Brubaker" five years later.

the way he drinks his coffee is so.............tactile
Hoffman is the king of actors!

Great scene ...finely acted ...one of many great scenes, throughout film
All the scenes are finely acted.

Amanda, True. But you had me laughing so hard at your comments that I almost spilled my coffee. Great Point and Observation.

I loved Jane Alexander in this !!
A wonderful actress whom I noticed even in my late teens.
It's a shame, Hollywood does not have the talent it once had, alure and love and passion now it's profit over talent.
Hollywood has more talent now than ever.
There are not, however, nearly as many executives with either vision or courage as there used to be.
This is my favorite scene in the movie hyphen and I think it is Jane Alexander's performance that makes it so.
First movie my wife and I saw together as noolyweds (newlyweds).
The great Jane Alexander
Dead ringer for Jamie Lee Curtis here.
I almost thought that was Jamie Lee Curtis.

Where is the tenacity for getting to the truth behind Benghazi by the press as Woodward & Bernstein did here?
No one gives a shit. And your "free market forces" hero Trump is now president.

Terrorist attack? I thought it was a spontaneous reaction to an internet video.
