    Great video! I'm new to sonoff as I wanted something to make dumb tech smart I.e a few lights I have in the office and garage are led strip lights, and I wanted to spend £20 per light rather than £75 x 2 for philips hue, even though my house easily has 50+. Anyway... I assume I could run this with a smart inline switch to enable and disable a bathroom extractor fan? I don't have a sonoff coordinator (hub) but do have 7+ alexas in the house, assuming it might run OK from that? Thanks, love the videos!

    I am new to your channel and not sure you already checked the Xiaomi Mijia Bluetooth Thermometer 2 - you can get 10 of them for 70NZ$ (~35 GBP) including shipment. With very simple hack you can get them reporting to MQTT. Have more than 10 around the house and pretty happy with results (using with node-red & InfluxDB & Grafana). Anyway, thanks for informative video

    just bought 4 of those, they seem pretty cute. updating them were a hassle and figured out by trial and error. I ve made a video about update process, takes around 35 minutes for each device. I also wish they would have aaa batteries, 2450 batteries annoy me a lot. at least make them 2x cr2032 or 2x cr2025 which is pretty much everywhere. 2450 batteries are pretty expensive and very hard to find locally. I am plannning on putting a micro usb and a 3.3v linear regulator to each of them.

    • @notenoughtech
      @notenoughtech  Před rokem +2

      35 min to update or to setup the toolchain :) I hope it's the latter haha. I prefer the 2450 as they hold like 3-4 times the charge.

    • @notenoughtech
      @notenoughtech  Před rokem

      Its a bit of black magic if I'm honest. I'm ok with modifying some of them but writing from scratch can be challenging. The very bare concept is: you look at what's ZigBee spits out in the log and you map that data to a more recognizable format. Some devices (Xiaomi) have pretty complex converters others just use standard functions from the exiting library.

    Nice looking unit and a bit cheaper than the AQARA versions. The 2450 lasts much longer than the 2032....
    I was wondering, does this sensor work well in cold temperatures long term, such as in a refridgerator? I know the Aqara zigbee sensor, without a display, can go down to below -18 degrees C and the battery life is quite good even in cold environments.

    • @EsotericArctos
      @EsotericArctos Před rokem +1

      @@sven1858 Bluetooth range would be dramatically reduced by the metal enclosure of the fridge, and as BT is only about 10 to 15 metres at best of times, the extra range of ZigBee would likely give Zigbee the edge, even though the range of a sensor in the fride would still be reduced. Could be worth trying though :). My concerns would be how the battery and the circuitry and LCD cope with the lower temps :)

    Hi, I got this temperature sensor and I'm quite satisfied except for the possibility of changing the "comfort level settings" in the settings. When I try to change them it asks me for confirmation on the device button but even if I press the button only once nothing happens. I have firmware version 1.0.9 which appears to be the latest. I would add that it is not a problem with the device because I purchased another one and the problem is present. I would like to ask you if this problem is also present in yours and if you have any idea how I can solve it. Thank you

    • @notenoughtech
      @notenoughtech  Před 2 měsíci

      I have not run into this. The reason to press the button is to wake up the ZigBee component and accept the pending update from the hub (as sensors like this go to sleep between the updates). Perhaps moving it close to the router or coordinator would help?

    The SNZB-02D sensor is the only Sonoff sensor that I have not tried. I have tried all the others, everything. None of the ZB sensors will stay online. they simply drop offline. I have had good luck with the RF motion sensor, but am not using it. I have 50 RF Basic and RF wall switches by Sonoff in my home. Love them. But their ZB sensors even using the ver 2 ZB hub are simply terrible and will not stay online. Wanted them to work, but they all drop offline again and again. Worked with T.S. to make them better, no luck.
