- Jon and Brian from the popular CZcams channel OUT LOUD @OutLoudJB are in Palm Springs, this week, to celebrate Jon's 30th birthday.
They are staying at the very hip and historic Monkey Tree Hotel and invited us over for a tour. We showed them some fun sights around town and then we had breakfast at Pinnochio's in downtown Palm Springs.

I had a neon sing that said "go bananas" from an old shut down bar. A friend got it for me because I would always say "enjoy life and just go bananas", back in the day. I don't even recall what started me saying that.

Winter is definitely the best time to be walking around town. And you know as well. Jim licked his plate clean and I only ate about half of mine! 🤪😆👍

Thanks Steve for the Monkey Tree history! It's one of the hotels that we enjoy. Plenty of play area for the grand kids and minutes from the downtown area with Pinocchio's being a favorite choice. We"re headed to Palms Spring this weekend (yes, 100 plus temps don't faze us ... much!?!) Anyway, have a great weekend and thanks for sharing
You sound a lot like us. We love the warm weather. What a small world though. How funny for you and your family have stayed there. John and Brian were telling me that it’s now more like on Airbnb. There’s no hotel staff on site. You just check yourself in. I have never heard of anything like that before. Sounds like a great idea though! Another interesting tour of Palm Springs with friends. Also beautiful early morning with few cars on the streets! I first moved to the high desert in 2014 and visited Marilyn about a week before she left the original spot. It was so crowded we walked by but decided to go have lunch rather than hang around. If we tried to take a pic there we would have been surrounded by the crowd. I'm assuming this the original Marilyn. I'm going to read more about the Monkey Tree Hotel.
Hi ER, yes, it’s the same original Marilyn statue. It can still get pretty crowded during the day and evening, but early mornings are the best time to walk around town without any crowds. It’s definitely a lot more crowded than the high desert, though. 😲👍
