Sometimes I watch these videos for the pedal demos, but I ALWAYS watch for the epic playing.
thanks Mark!
You have no idea how much I wish all of your pedal demo intros could be full songs...you always go where I don't expect, which is oh so refreshing. Great video as always
Holy Sh*t Pete! That opening track was incredible! Pedal sounds great too.
Thanks Dan!
Oh hell, can we just nominate this for guitar solo of the year now? Holy freakin' cow, absolutely brilliant both from a lead and rhythm playing perspective.
Demos by professional players are so awesome! Thank you very much Pete Thorn! You are one of the very best!
I bought this pedal recently because of this demo (no regrets either). Pete does such a great job giving you an accurate portrayal of gear. His chops/phrasing are tasteful and simply amazing; he's such a down-to-earth, humble guy. In a sea of gear, his demos help me sift through it all. His videos are entertaining, inspiring, educational, and for me...most importantly...HELPFUL!!! Keep on keeping on, Mr. Thorn!!!
If all those demo songs were in an album, I wound buy it! Pete, you're awesome. Inspiration, tone, mix, speech, review, everything.
thank you!
Hey Pete, I'm a country picker and a huge fan of your playing. That intro is insane.
Thank you!
Absolutely amazing. Haven't heard you before, but eye am now a fan.
Holy crud. Pete crushed that solo! Cool sounding pedal too.
Great looking pedal, but WTF Pete's playing and that solo are beyond awesome!
Love this guys channel which is just brilliant and have learnt loads from a lovely guy happy to share and who's enthusiasm for what he does is all to evident.
Thanks so much!
The looper part of this demo worked well. I could really hear the controlls
One of your best composition so far Pete! I love the tone you got on this track!
thanks!
My Eclipse arrived today. In a word this pedal is "Stunning"! Exactly what I hoped it would be. I plugged my Strat Plus w SD Hot Rails in the bridge into the Eclipse then into my little Blues Jr w a Celestion Creamback 65 spkr. I started with all of the pedal's EQ knobs at noon, gains and levels at 9 o'clock. Turned it on and it sounded absolutely perfect. Joy!!!
The distortion is harmonically rich, smooth, refined and TIGHT....and yet at the same time it's very dynamic and cleans up well with my guitar's volume knob. Very polished, studio sound. I LOVE it!
Good for blues?
I don't see why not. Especially if you turn the drive down and crank the volume on one or both of the channels. I think it's geared a little more towards rock, whereas I think a pedal like the Fulltone Fulldrive 2 is geared more towards blues. But I play Little Wing with my band and I use the Eclipse blue channel for just a touch of dirt for the intro and rhythm parts, then kick on the red channel which is set for more overdrive for the solos. My band plays everything from SRV, Beatles, The Cars, Stones, Police, Foo Fighters, Green Day... and the Eclipse sounds great with everything. It's all about how you dial in the tones you want. I'm really digging this pedal after having it for a couple of months and several gigs. Really versatile! Gonna try it with my Marshall soon...
thanks for the answer
Wow...and you end all of that controlled chaos with an Fma7 chord...beautiful. I noticed my eyes were cutting to that TC looper a little too much!!
Ha I love ending on maj7 chords, no matter what i'm playing
Finally, two separate overdrive channels inside the same stompbox! Sounds nice and tight. You don't even need any boost pedal in front of it.
This is by far, one of the best distortion around, period.
The 3D-ness it's everywhere
Your playing is amazing.
Thanks Tom!
Jeezus Joseph and Mary! THAT was a seriously smokin’ intro!! Just had to stop at 1:19 to say. Now back to the review.
wow there are some insane OD/Dist pedals being made at the moment, and this sounds fantastic. Send one to Dan & Mick on That Pedal Show!
tones and playing are stellar, as always, but i really love the fresh arrangement and melodic/rhythmic interplay. really great
Really awesome tracks, the way you make those riffs are jaw-dropping!
thank u!
I'm sure the Suhr pedal is fine and all, but I REALLY want to be able to play like Pete Thorn!
Dude, you have been going BANANAS lately with your demo tracks! Those hands!
thanks Scott!
If only I could give this 100 billion likes... Great stuff Pete!
probably my favorite intro track from you. Awesome demo Pete!
Dang Pete you were gettin it dude. I really enjoyed your note choices and riffs in that intro. Now....back to the video
:)
Glad I consider myself a rhythm guitar player. :) Awesome opening track as stated in many of the other comments!
Funny I used to consider myself a decent solo player but after watching a bundle of Pete's videos I could practice for a thousand years and never get even close damn it
Awesome opening track! I wanna give you credit for your drum programming.. it's always awesome, but it really shined on this one.
LOVE LOVE LOVE that guitar!!! My favorite of the Suhrs. And of course, your playing is always awesome. Great job Pete.
Thanks! www.suhr.com/instruments/standard/pete-thorn-signature/
That was pretty sick Pete. That black Suhr is a beauty too. Rock on brother!
thanks!
Mr Thorn, your demos are just like a drug to me and this week we are reaching brand new levels of addiction with 5 demos in 3 days:D! Great great music!!
Pete nailing it as always, killer tune, killer tones, killer playing, excellent explanations. Wondering how this pedal compares IN GAIN to the Riot/Reloaded - thanks as always Pete, you f'n rock
that pedal sounds great!
great video! thanks for all the info. Suhr is doing some awesome stuff
Yes! This is killer, can definitely see it finding a place on one of my boards.
Mar
Great video Pete! I bought the Dual Fusion Pedal in 2015 and it only left the space on my pedalboard once to test other pedals, such as the King of Tone Analog Man. The Dual Fusion is my favorite pedal and also the best pedal I've ever bought. It will remain my favorite pedal in 2021. The right side of the pedal, the Euphoria, is my favorite. A test that I will still do is the Cornerstone Gladio SC and possibly also the The Soloist by KingTone.
Best Pete Thorn track thus far!
That fmaj7 at the end was just fantastic!
:)
Man you should record an album with all the intros of your reviews, all of them are awesome! A mexican fan of your playing here, cheers.
Thats kinda what I am doing now! Working on it.
Diggin all the rapid fire demos Pete! All great as usual.
Just took the online purchase plunge on the Eclipse. I need a versatile OD for a couple of my clean Fender tube amps. Funny, I had been seriously investigating the Bogner La Grange, the Friedman BE-OD and a couple of Weehbo pedals over the past few weeks, but this red beauty seemed to reach out to me. I think it will be perfect for my needs. Can't wait to check it out!
Incredible playing makes me want to take up knitting or stamp collecting and i'm a gigging musician so I thought till I watched this guy playing
Forget the pedal! Where can I get those fingers?
The black market probably
williamthomaspenn Go to MIT in Hollywood, they’re a dime a dozen there 🙄
Love the playing and tones. Wow
thanks!
This sounds like Daisuke Ishiwatari, blown away, love it.
thanks!
Anyone who could hang with Chris Cornell on tour is no slouch. Pete's a helluva musician. Period. I'm pretty sure he could make the Hello Kitty guitar sound like a million.
Such a great play! blows my dam mind! That's a bad ass guitar also.
Whoa! Good night! That opening song. Yes!!
u jam brother.. inspire me to play like no other.... keep it up man!, love your channel
Hi Pete, you're a such a great guitar player. Thanks for sharing your product reviews!
thank you!
Another fantastic review of a awesome pedal.
Scortchin'! Cool chord to end on!
Just pushing out those demo's before NAMM! And they're all great quality too.
Your videos are awesome Pete. Great reviews and you're such a good player. Thanks
Thanks Jordan!
Pete hucking fell! Your intros are always entertaining but this was just smokin’
Thanks!
The more these nice modern pedals come out the more I lean towards single channel amplifiers . Sick pedal it would go nice with Bella
Your playing is just beyond. You're not just fast, clean and so on, you have some great taste and creativity. Love your work, keep on!
WOW - what an avalanche of an opening track!
This is the most danceable demo you have ever made
Fantastic playing as always! What a great pedal, too!
Now if Friedman could do a two channel pedal,we would be fine. I know that Dave talked about a Dirty Shirley pedal but a full blown BE-OD with switchable boost and more options would be heavenly.
ironz18
you are a prophet man...
DP-OD it is then :D
awesome awesome pedal and a killer demo, thanks Pete
Holy crap! must have missed this one, cool toun, great riffs and that ending was soooo sweeet!
your videos and reviews are sooooooooooo much better than TKs like I don't understand how he plays guitar like a beginner for the amount of time played guitar
Killer intro! Please put this on an album!
That black Suhr superstrat. Just wow.
Looks awesome!! Nice riffing Pete top demo as usual!
Hi Pete, I don't know what pedal I have to buy, in your hands every cheep pedal sound great!!!
Amazing, Pete, thanks!
Forgot for what pedal this demo was for.. Pete stepped in....
I have the original Riot. I wonder if the Eclipse would be a useful addition. Anyway, fantastic intro and great sounds from this pedal. GASing now! EDIT: just got the Eclipse. It sounds brilliant. The voiceknob is a great tool. You can tailor the pedal so easy to your amps.
I hope Suhr do another pedal in this config aimed at low gain/boost > medium gain. Running into my low wattage Voxy rig I think this one one would be too gainy for me, but this is the functionality I've wanted for 20 years - a simple toggle between an optimised dirty rhythm tone and lead tone.
No it can be set up for very mild drive easily, Pete shows that in a Plexi later in the video
How does this compare with the Riot? Is it the same basic distortion sound or is it different? Anyone played both?
waou , this pedal is amazing , your demo too as usual
Insane playing! Nice job.
thanks!
You are an F'n monster!!! I really dig you're playing, Pete!!!
Great intro! The guitar playing is great but the back line really stood out here. I need to get some work done today! :)
what a kick ass opening track!!!!
Awesome demo!
Sounds great!
@4:22 I hear part of the solo from Pantera's song Cemetary Gates. Nice...
Seems to improve all the time even now, gives me hope as a 33 yr old guitar player working hard to get there
Thank you I still feel like a hack that's trying to learn!
Pete, sounds awesome! when is Guitar Nerd vol 2 gonna happen ?
working on it!
awesome as always!!
amazing guitar player! i'm a big fan.
thanks!
wow great intro pete
When I grow up , I wanna be Pete Thorn !
hi pete great video as usual! best demos on the net! just wondering what is the drum programme your using. sounds very close to the feel of a real drummer. the fills sound great!
The cab emulator sounds a ton better than a lot of other hardware cab emulators as well as a lot of IR's. So I am guessing that the eclipse is somewhat close to being Suhr's "amp in a box" ? I like the voicing. Suhr makes great products.
it's a great pedal to turn a clean amp into a 3 channel rig!
Some blistering playing again Pete! I'm wondering if you've considered getting together with a singer to write and record an album together? Your playing style can stand on it's own but is also 'vocal friendly' from a writing perspective - I'd love to hear / see what a collaboration could come up with . . . bring on the rock masterpieces.
The pedal has a lot of competition in the market and it's great that Suhr have come up with an original topology for their design. Great idea that voicing pot :)
About to produce and play on an album for Holly Henderson, she arrives from the UK in Feb. Going to be fun, she's super talented.
Great to hear. Are you writing parts / songs for Holly's album? Please keep us updated Pete - I'll be very keen to hear what you both come up with. So count album sales as 1 already :)
As always the most interesting thing on your demos is not the gear .... pedal, amps .... don't mind ..... but the "songs" you write for the demos. Amazing little pills of music
Holy shit the playing
great pedal it sounds perfect
It's super cool
Pete's Wampler Pinnacle Deluxe video is next in my playlist. I keep A/B'ing back and forth. I think Suhr has more bite and note definition, whereas the Wampler has more warmth and character. Splitting hairs though - both sound fantastic...
If I had to sum it up - I'd take the Suhr for a live rig and the Pinnacle for the studio :)
intrsoul I've always had reliability issues with Wampler. I've had 3 go down on me within a year of owning. I'd go with Suhr.
Killer Intro Pete !!
Amazing music.... Wow!
Suhr's gain structure and overdriven tones in a box? Oh my... count me in.
Dude... That rivaled just about anything from my OTHER favorite guitarist (but we won't talk about JP right now since I'm wearing a shirt with his signature on it lol). FAN-F******-TASTIC.
thank u! :)
So... I just randomly clicked on a link to this video and was again blown away by the solo - I wathced it like 15 times and thought I'd comment. Well, apparently, I commented 3 months ago. Seriously dude, crazy cool stuff. Any chance you have the tabbs to that solo? I really want to know what you do with the little flutter thing and then the tapping.
Damn that track was rocking!
Great song!
