Just lock ur doors...sounds like the bears just want to check if ur home....if ur not to and doors unlocked they head for the kitchen. U do have to teach the children how to be careful. But I dont hear a lot of stories of kids getting attacked ever. Maybe it happens here or there if the kids get curious about the cubs....cus cubs also get curious. Black bears are pretty chill
My hubby says he desperately wants to see one in person, having grown up vacationing in the Adirondack mountains, and Catskill mountains, not seeing a black bear is an excellent idea! No thanks , saw them enough in person, and don't want to see anymore !

They're usually not dangerous. Usually not aggressive. Maybe they are living too many people in bear country? They should probably move and let the bears live in peace. Another more peaceful suggestion compared to yours...
Give it sum gosh darn food, its obviously very hungry. Plus it has a cub, wouldn't hurt for someone to toss a couple fish filets and sum berries out there. Just saying.....

They are looking for food,so feed them we end up throwing away so much food anyway it's a sin,it is humans who moved in the bears back yard.
