    1. Ruler - You’ll learn to fold your sheets in a very specific way (down to the inch!) This will help to measure out those lengths for room inspections (which happen at random)
    2. Clipboard - You can use this to tuck in your bed sheets really tightly for that clean, finished look
    3. Notebook and pen - You can’t use your laptop/tablets to take notes in class
    4. Clear water bottle - This is required for PT; it can be colored as long as you can see through the bottle
    5. Measuring gauge - Useful for placing your name badge, pins, and insignia for uniform check; something like this:
    www.amazon.com/Dritz-3100-14-...
    6. Lint roller - Useful for uniform inspections
    7. Small scissors and lighter - To cut/sear off “contraband” aka strings on your uniform for inspection; there is going to be a ton.
    8. Laptop - Netflix! (During personal time)
    9. Bun maker, bobby pins, hair spray - For the ladies, these will come in handy
    10. Laundry bag - To carry your clothes from your room to the laundry.
    11. Sun screen - You’ll be outside for PT and drills every day; get ready for that farmer’s tan
    12. Shoe polish - You’ll be doing this a lot for uniform inspection; get black and clear!
    13. Snacks - These are suppose to be “dry and healthy snacks.” You’ll need a stash, trust me. Again, you can always get more at the commissary.
    14. Black umbrella - For those rainy days; Black because it is navy regulations
    15. Lock - It is required to put on your dresser; it must be locked at all times and the arrow must point to “zero”
    16. Tide pen - Omg, you’ll need this for your dress white uniforms. Stains are inevitable!
    17. Baby wipes, dry shampoo - For times when the shower line is way too damn long after PT, these came in handy. You can always shower later…
    18. Blanket or sleeping bag - The sheets and blanket they give you are thin. Also, it can save time on making your bed sheets every morning, if you know what I mean…
    19. Insoles and bandaids/waterproof tape - Your boots are going to hurt like hell; hurray to blisters
    20. Shower caddy and flip flops - Like I mentioned before, the showers are in a nice way - less than ideal.

    ▶ 𝐃𝐎𝐍'𝐓 𝐁𝐑𝐈𝐍𝐆 ↴
    1. Civilian clothes - You’ll wear civilian clothes coming into ODS and leaving ODS; even on the weekends where you can leave base, you have to be in uniform at all times.
    2. Cleaning supplies - At least, don’t bring a ton; There might be some left in the extra supply storage and you can always buy more at the NEX.
    3. Iron or fan - There were a bunch of these; grab one in the supply room to share with your bunkmate if you can; again, you can always purchase on at the NEX.

    Hi everyone! I hope you guys have been safe and healthy during all this. I realized that so much of the protocol must have changed at ODS since I went in June 2019. As of today (06AUG2020), I've been following some people on their IG going through ODS now. It seems like everyone is being quarantined for 2 weeks at a hotel, getting meals delivered 3x/day, and expected to join in on online lectures with socially distancing PT. After testing negative, they will be moving back to King Hall to finish the rest of the program; I'm suspecting they won't be able to go outside of base like I mention in this video :/ Overall, I hope you'll find tidbits of information from this video still helpful. Thanks for watching. Stay safe out there :)

    As a D2 with Navy HPSP I hope you keep making videos about life as a Navy dentist! Do you know if credentialing tours generally last 1 year and then what the likelihood of getting shore vs sea duty is? It's hard to find good information about being a Navy dentist and I'm trying to figure out how likely I am to be on a ship for 2 years or what the daily life of a Navy dentist even is. Thank you for your videos!

    • @harrrMONICA
      @harrrMONICA  Před 4 lety +1

      Credentialing tour is always 1 year. Then, you get contacted by your detailer with a list of available billets and rank them. They try their best to get you at least something near your top 5 picks but it is not a guarantee. You most likely won't be placed on a ship or overseas if you don't ask for it.

    Hi! Firstly, thank you for the videos! I am a nurse and I have ODS on July 24th. Was it a big deal when you had to overpack due to your moving situation? Do they limit what you may bring whether that is quantity or are specific items banned?

    • @harrrMONICA
      @harrrMONICA  Před 2 lety

      Hello! Congrats on your acceptance in the Nurse Corps/ODS :) No, they did not care how many bags I brought. It just might be difficult for you when you have to pack and move out though. If you can coordinate your household good shipment to match up better, you probably won't have to bring so many items haha. If you have your orders, most airlines have a policy where you can bring up to 5(?) bags for free so check each airline if you'd like. Hope this helps. Best of luck!!

    My dentist went through school with the navy. I asked him why would they have dentists on ships. He explained to me if a crewman whether a pilot or other had a dental emergency on board, they couldn't send them ashore.

    • @harrrMONICA
      @harrrMONICA  Před 2 lety

      Unfortunately, medical/dental emergencies can go awry on ships. We try to take care of everyone’s needs before deployments, but sometimes time/scheduling/manning needs can cause conflicts. Much needed in those situations! Plus, everyone is required to have dental exams updated every year as well.
