If anyone - for some reason - wants context: The second and third seasons of Legends of Tomorrow focused on villains screwing up the timeline for various nefarious purposes. In Season 3, the villain was Malice, an ancient demon who had been imprisoned by the elders of Zambeisi. After the Legends completely wrecked the time stream at the end of Season 2, Malice's prison was weakened just enough for him to start screwing with time again, but he needed to cause more anachronisms before he could manifest/possess a physical form, so he worked through a number of acolytes to do this for him. In this case, he sent Gorilla Grodd to go murder Obama before he became president, presumably with the promise of giving Grodd a kingdom to rule.
