Yeah, after some medication interactions my best friend gained about 60 pounds. Nearly eliminated his testosterone production and had thyroid issues on top....so on top of the weight gain he had zero sex drive. A year ago this Wednesday he killed himself.
I love how super rich people always telling everybody how easy everything is to do. They have every resource available to them twenty-four hours a day. Of course they can lose weight easily they can afford to hire a trainer and chef and all these things that I'm sure they do

relevant story time: I went on a cruise to Jamacia once. Normally I would think it's lame but they had one thing I wanted to do. My grandparents went to Jamaica like 20 years before and had a VHS of them climbing this waterfall. I thought that was awesome as a kid and I watched the video like 100 times so I wanted to go and do that. This waterfall isn't really a traditional waterfall but more like a river/waterfall. It's called Dunn's river falls if you wanna look it up. Anyway, after a week of sitting on a boat we finally get to Jamaica so I can do the waterfall river thing. For some fucking reason to go up the waterfall you all have to hold hands in a line so no one falls in the water or gets hurt. One of the people I had to hold hands with is a woman who was EASILY 500 pounds. So as you can imagine literally 10 minutes into walking up this river we get to a point where she's tired and can't make it up the rocks so I have to try my best and drag all 500 pounds of her ass up these rocks. My entire trip was ruined because of it. The only reason I wanted to come was to do this river waterfall thing and now it's become a genuine fight for my life to be able to drag this bitch up a fuck ton of giant rocks. So yes with that experience I would say weight limits are a good thing for "excursions."

And you aren't predetermined due to genetics. Your environment and actions play a much bigger role.

I was 400lbs as a teenager. It was torture both physically and socially. I felt the same way the woman in the clip did. The only difference between us is that I actually stopped complaining and did something about it. Lost 200lbs and got my life back. Being a victim is a choice

Personal accountability is dead
I was never massive, but I did get to a size that I felt ashamed of a few years ago. I was fat because I got depressed and never wanted to leave the house, just wanted to comfort myself with food and video games. Due to medical problems, I can’t go to a gym to try and burn it all of as fast as possible, doctors told me I could only walk… So that’s what I did. When I was not studying or working, I’d walk for 4 hours every day I had off. I’d pick a direction and go. I also cut down my food portions, not cutting bad food out completely, but just making sure I was just eating less. I only drank water, so soft drink was not something I had to worry about at either (soft drink is a huge problem for people, cut that shit out, you don’t need it).
I’m still trying to loose weight, but I am now a size I don’t feel ashamed about. But the best bit? Walking and exercise is proven to make you happier! I feel better from just moving about, from getting my blood pumping. Walking is awesome, and it’s easier than you think. idk, I just wish more people did it…
ACTUALLY as a former retail employee I can explain the sizing chart. So the typical even numbers 0,2,4,6,8 and on, are technically called women's or "casual" sizes. Odd numbers, 1,3,5,7,9 + are for juniors sizing being pre-teens to teenagers. However when you get to the Men's department it completely changes. Typically their pants size starts at 28" and goes up (you'll rarely see smaller sizes) and then expensive contemporary brands, such as Joe's jeans, American eagle, house of Harlow, usually European brands as well, do the weird sizing similar to Men's where it usually starts at size 25" when it's actually still very small. IT'S A MESS, I've always hated it. But to put it simply, 0-2 is XS, 2-4 and maybe 6 is small, size 8-10 is considered medium, size 12-14 is large, and 16-18 is XL. Same concept applies to juniors, however the juniors department, doesn't matter if it's considered an XL, is still itty bitty because it's catered towards younger kids/really young adults.
As a 6'2" 380lb man, everything said from ymh is truth. I lost 50 lbs before my trip so I could fit in the damn airplane seat. Maybe by the next trip, I won't have to worry about breaking chairs. Life goals.

Keep at it brudder! Took me about 2 years to go from 300+ to 170 at 6’1. Nothing happens overnight. Ups and downs happen just focus on what you’ve lost.

I struggled with my weight, my entire life… And you guys are completely right… There’s no way that she is actually happy with being the size that she is… Yes, food is an addiction and people use that as a coping mechanism… I know I did… in no way am I saying that we all need to have washboard abs… But we definitely need to be at a place where we are healthy and were we can go places and not have to worry about whether or not we fit… my turning point was when I didn’t fit in a ride at an amusement park… I was mortified when they asked me to get off… for my safety… THAT was the moment that I decided that I am not going to be fat anymore

Dude. I can't believe I thought I was morbidly obese when I was a kid. No one was the weight I was at, and I topped out at 200 as a 5' tall woman. That didn't last long, but I was 180 pounds for the majority of my time at 13-18 years old. I had troubles walking through the desks to get to mine in school and other issues. I never thought it should all change just for me... I hoped a teacher in small rooms would pick up to let my desk be easier to get to so I wasn't mentally destroyed by mean kids, but that was it. I don't understand the mentality of choosing to be morbidly obese and thinking it should be seen as normal. Like, you're going to die in your 40's living that way.

As a recovering alcoholic with a few years sobriety, I always felt discriminated against. They should’ve known I was gonna pass out and piss myself on the plane and planned for it. Restaurants should hire alcohol positive consultants for this stuff.

Back in December I went on Trip to Universal Studios and at 340lbs I could not ride most of the rides as I did not fit, or was afraid to find out after waiting in line. I first felt similar to her that "why can't they make this fit all sizes" Then I had an honest conversation with myself that its not them its just me and I need to make a change. Started Weight loss on 2/1 and currently 281. Its diet and exercise. You can not buy discipline. still long way to go but I know next time I go to the park I will fit like a normal person.

I am 43 years old, 6'4 and recently lost 35lbs. In 5 months. I used to weigh 250 and now weigh 215.
Yes it's hard but not impossible. My doctor says he is really proud of me and wishes 90% of his patients were like me.
I once got on the verge of this. I got on an airplane and almost couldn’t get the belt buckles. I was so horrified at the idea of having to ask for an extender. I busted my ass, and I have lost 87 pounds in the last three years. These things aren’t obstacles. They are motivators. And if you aren’t motivated, then you have to accept that there are things that you will not be able to do. But you’re making your own decisions here.

I work in aviation, and when it comes to aircraft, the MGTOW (maximum gross take-off weight, not that other thing red pillers talk about, lol) is a hard number. There is no deviating from it. That number cannot be exceeded, so when it comes to fuel needed, plus reserve in case of a delay or emergency, luggage, and passenger/crew weight, there is a limit, and that limit doesn't care about feelings or politics. So when a person weighs 380 lbs, they are literally taking up the weight for 2 people. On a larger plane, that is usually okay, but on a smaller plane it isn't. A private jet that holds 9 people can now only hold 8 sometimes 7. Depending on the distance, a person that weighs 380 pounds may need a fuel stop because they cannot take on as much fuel as they need to in order to go nonstop, so now that passenger is costing the flight typically thousands of dollars more when you consider the extra fuel and the fees that accumulate for stopping at another airport. There is an associated cost for flying at that weight. To expect to pass that cost onto others is a little entitled.

I can tell you first hand as a skydiving instructor. All the girls would lie about their weight, but we weighed every single one of them is hilarious. it still tripped me out that they would do it risk their life and mine. We need to know within 5kg or so their weight to make it safe, and the equipment doesn’t work over a certain weight. I like how you compared it to drugs, it’s exactly the same it’s an addiction. I feel for them I’ve been an addict. But I wasn’t pushing for smoking on planes and shit

But I've just come to accept that I'm not an average sized person (which already covers a wide range of shapes and sizes). We outliers just need to accept that the world isn't built for us. That includes morbidly plus size people. They can actually do something about it though. I can't.

Buy your own goddamn seatbelt extender!!! That's what I did as soon as I got home years ago after I took a flight and the seatbelt was too tight. It was a serious wake-up call, but I had a lot of flying to do days later, so I bought one on Ebay and avoided that embarassement. My weight is MY problem, so it's on me to find that solution until I was able to lose the weight. Plus, I started thinking "What if there's a bunch of fatties on a plane and they run out?!" My fat ass was not going be the reason we have to go back to a gate to get more. I'm wasn't about to make my problem everyone else's problem, and neither should other people.

I couldn’t agree more. I had a 3 hour southwest flight where the guy next to me was so big, I basically had to sit sideways the entire flight. I took a selfie and sent it to southwest showing the guys shoulders and arms pouring into my seat. They called, apologized, and gave me a flight voucher.

Just had this on a flight for a work conference. He was probably 400 pounds I’d guess and he literally couldn’t keep himself in the seat and he smelled really bad. He actually apologized several times and seemed like a decent dude when we briefly chatted. It was only about 2 hours but felt like an eternity. It was completely full so I couldn’t be moved. Shit should not be allowed.
Thank you for saying all this. People need to wake up. I have no hate for them, only concern. I don’t think they understand how unhealthy it is or how much better they would feel in better shape. It’s very sad but people definitely need to be more realistic with this kind of stuff.
I'm 6'4 and skinny, and my knees are smashed into the seat in front of me on every flight. I'm not out here asking for an entire industry to accommodate my size, because I'm taller than average.

I was 240 pounds at my peak. Some of the things that made me want to lose weight was when wearing XL shirts started becoming tight and rolling on my stomach and having fistfulls of fat roll to one side. I didn't complain about the rest of the world, I just lost the weight. Being fat was uncomfortable, but it was the price i paid for all those calories i ate.

Yes, PLEASE make it REQUIRED to request a seat belt extender when booking a ticket. And then update the seat map with those requests, so everyone knows where these massive people are parked throughout the airplane, and they can make sure and not book their seats next to them.

I went to skydive when I was 21. Unbeknownst to me, there is a weight limit to tandem skydiving. I weighed 290lbs that day. I needed to be 245 or less. Now, I flew across the country to do this. I was embarrassed, frustrated, mortified. I had to tell everybody why I couldn’t do it. It was a better alternative than saying I chickened out. So, for the next 18 months I trained to run a marathon. I exercised like a mad man. I went back and I still barely made the cut off 🤣 But I lost 45-50 lbs. BTW, skydiving is amazing. Highly recommended. And later that year, I ran my marathon. So when you are told you are too fat to do something, your 1st instinct is to be like this woman. Bitch and moan about how the world needs to have options for big people. But the more healthy thing to do is look in the mirror and decide if you can make some diet and exercise changes.

I’ve had to get off amusement park rides because the safety bar wouldn’t go down. Skipped a ride because I couldn’t even get in the seat. I always had to ask for seatbelt extenders on planes. And I’ve had to cancel skydiving and a bungee package when I found out there was a weight limit. Did I expect everyone to accommodate me? Nope. Was it because I was “plus sized”. Nope. It’s because I was fat and was too big. Not their fault, it was mine. And I fixed it

I been thin/skinny my whole life. When I was a corrections officer for over 10 years and I was often skipped off the ceiling during confrontations. As I got older I lost my ability to just bounce, skip and get right back up. I went to a dietitian to try and gain some weight. However this would shock the dietitian. She didn't really try any bedside manners. "You just need to eat more.", was her advise. I had to ask if that was all she told her over weight patrons. I once explained to my plus-sized daughter that I told the before mentioned story to a group of plus size women in the supermarket once, just to have one reach out and grab my forearm and squeeze it to the bone while looking me in the eyes and saying, "I hate you!" This made my own daughter laugh. Yep. My young appearance and narrow frame had cost me jobs and promotions throughout my life. It takes a toll. (In corrections I would explain to those concerned during an incident at work that didn't know me and may have doubted my ability as back-up, that a bag of cement only weighs 90lbs but imagine it jumping up off the ground and snatching you by your head. You're going down.) Then you reach 60 and it ALL doesn't matter, and it never did.
When I was about 40 pounds overweight, I was buying first class flights for the extra room. I can’t imagine pushing 400 pounds, and sitting down in an economy seat with a straight face
Yeah, they just lift the armrest and take up half of the next seat. And get SUPER pissy if you say no, the armrest stays down and I don't want any part of you touching any part of me. I'm overweight and even I'm sick of these ultra fat people whining about the consequences of stuffing themselves.

People don’t realize how much weight is a factor when travelling by a plane. There’s a reason why you’re only allowed 50 lbs per bag. One or two pounds here and there doesn’t seem much but if everyone has packed overweight the plane might not take off. Airlines account 220 pounds per passenger. If you’re double that you should pay for two tickets.
It grinds my gears that she pays the same for a plane ticket as me but even though she weighs twice what I do, they want me to pay for a heavy bag that still doesn’t make up the difference

Sizes are worthless considering the molds for the things are different by each manufacturer. That is why you sometimes buy a size 6 shirt and it fits differently than another size 6 shirt despite being the same size.
Another thing is that obesity has a social and psychological factor on top of biological. (Humans are in fact bio-psico-social beings). So you shouldn't actually tell someone to just "stop eating". Because the reverse also happens. When someone is underweight, you can't just say "eat a pork chop bro". Or when someone can't get themselves out of bed, you can't just say "just get up and do stuff".
One of the main current actual problems is you can't talk about this without being made out the villain, and at the same time the commodity of being in the "victimhood spot" that they are allowed to feel sorry for themselves and demand YOU to accomodate.
PS: I would NOT take Gwynneth Paltrow ever. Some fat people are actually fucking fun or at least they know how to cook. My issue is with luggage weight restrictions. Me + all my bags, don’t even weigh half of this woman, yet if I’m 1lb “overweight” I get charged… Airlines should weigh passengers AND Luggage.
The weight restrictions on bags aren't for restricting weight on the plane, they're for protecting the workers who move the bags.

At the end of the day you need to be honest with yourself about your limitations and the limitations of your environment. Assuming the world should accommodate you without hesitation like it should for a person who is dependent on a wheelchair or issues with mobility caused by things line MS, and then calling that a plead for dignity or basic fairness is not just massively arrogant but it's dumb.
I'm working on losing weight because I have type one diabetes. And the issues caused by my weight can be mitigated with weight loss. I wish there was such a straightforward treatment for my type 1 which though not caused by my weight, it will haunt me for the rest of my life.

They either don't seem to realize, or refuse to acknowledge, that a chair that is designed for her, would be too heavy, too strong, and too big for most people. It would be overbuilt and more expensive. In order to be comfortable for her, it would be uncomfortable for most people. She just thinks everything should revolve around her.

Ive gained a bunch a weight over the last few years. Went from 150 to 200. And i am getting to the point where I'm like "i could be heathier and in better shape" i have no idea how people like this can say "I'm happy seriously" like no way.

I'm fat and I always cringe when I see other fat people that expect other's to be accommodating just because they chose to over eat. If you're fat because of a medical issue that's another thing, but don't expect people to feel bad if you're just fat because you hate yourself.
Even with medical issues most people dont try to be healthy. Nobody wants to workout hard, nobody wants to eat clean at normal portions. Most fat people dont exercise,eat healthy or in normal portions. Its no rocket science trying to figure out how to lose weight. Getting in shape is hard and will never be easy

I hear her bitch and complain about how it’s tiring to do simple things like fucking walk and I’m so sick of it. She won’t even try to take the stairs, instead she just accepts that she will be that way until she inevitably dies at 50-60. I know it’s possible to lose weight because I myself have lost over 100 lbs in the last 3 years. It’s not impossible at all.

I had to sit next to a "non-straight" sized person many many times and the last time the flight attendant went to the row and asked generally the section does anyone need a seatbelt extender. No one else needed one.
I work as a tour guide in Canada, and had issues with obese people in my groups for being unable to walk 2 blocks.
as a 350 lb dude who is also disabled (part of the reason I'm 350) I agree 100% with Tim and Mommy. The world is not built for people that big, nor should it be. I'm sure there are places (looking at you, American south) where they accomodate a lot of chunkers and fatties but whenever I travel by air (not very often) I always call the airline (WestJet) and tell them I'm 300+ and disabled and will need more space and a seat belt extender and they have been happy to work around me every time. It just takes a little effort and communication on my part to make sure they can meet my needs, even if it means paying for an additional seat so I'm not crowding out some poor soul next to me.
Good on you man for taking responsibility for your own situation and being proactive. There is a reason why people are obese without a medical reason. Lack of effort on their part. So not being proactive is no surprise.

Just recently flew spirit and picked a seat with nobody next me but the arm rest didn't go up. I didn't know armrest not going up was a thing. Still fit the seat belt but it was pretty snug.

I’ve been 40lbs over weight and genuinely felt like I was dying slowly every day. I can’t even begin to imagine being 175lbs over weight. That’s another person.
There’s still sensible doctors out there. I put on weight after 3 major surgeries in 7 months, 35 pounds in the near 2 years of recovery. I’ve since lost it all & 10 more as I lost muscle mass. My doctor could have been happy when I got back to my original weight but said “hey your body composition has changed & could stand to lose 10 more”, so I did. Being in a healthy BMI/weight range has so many benefits and being slightly overweight is a concern, let alone being morbidly obese. It’s just crazy talk.
I believe in freedom of speech so I’m against making people saying such insane stuff illegal… but we need to start bullying people again asap
Went from 312 lbs down to 220 and I feel SO MUCH BETTER. Healthier than ever in my life. Even as a large person I never expected accommodations for my size. Always felt like it was more of a motivator than anything else. Telling myself I can work my way back down to that size. (That being said, I did carry my weight VERY well and most people didn't believe me until I would show them the scale, but that doesn't mean my body itself didn't make it a point to tell me it was that size through various amounts of pain xD)

Agreed. It baffles my mind when someone is 300 pounds or more. The amount of calories just to maintain that weight is around 5,000 a day. I eat pretty unhealthy and the heaviest I ever got was 190 at 6'1

Ya'll might find this amusing. I am a 6'4" male, at one time I weighed 350 lbs. I went to a patio style bar with a wooden deck. They had the cheap plastic outdoor chairs, when I sat down it shattered. Before I could even get up off the floor I had 3 separate lawyers trying to hand me their cards. It's funny but also ridiculous that this is the world we live in. And that was 30 years ago. I honestly don't know how any small business survives that has to deal with the public nowdays.
