I'm in my 60s and noticed my symptoms when daughter was diagnosed and grandson. The Sychiatrist has put me on a waiting list. Blood pressure and heart has been checked. Medication is low and unsure when will be on medication. Thanks for this video

I hope that you find something that provides help without causing problematic side effects, and that you don't have to wait too much longer.

Hello Dr Kruze l had no idea seniors could have ADHD symptoms and if and when recieve medication l need checked every month for blood pressure and unsure which medication the Sychiatrist has prescribed, but it's in the short list. My daughter has ADHD and she's unable to take any kind of stimulants. She's in in her 30s and then realised l had similar symptoms. Also hadc symptoms as a child and was never picked up. I found this video very helpful. Thank you

Thank you very much for this. I care for a 93 year old woman with vascular dementia and COPD and a nurse who has never met her prescribed 5 mg Adderall/daily. I'm extremely frustrated being at odds with the individual's family and need some advice on how to deal with this is a gracious manner...

As a first step, I would try to hear what their concerns and objections are, and depending on those, suggesting a trial run of several days where you and they can both assess whether she is better off on the days with or without the medication.

Why would she need that with 93years old in the first place?

Thanks again Doctor Kruse on your very professional investigative research about this for the elderly. This answers my questions on all the heart concerns my nurse practitioners have on trying a stimulant med at the lowest dose to see if it effective at such a low dosage and also if I tolerate them. I know I have side effects from atomoxitine. I know if have had side effects on Lipitor that I was on for decades until I found out was the cause of “ you have blood in urine” at every DOT physical I had. The urine returned to clear light yellow and not orange in days. I’m not seeking a high because I don’t drink or smoke or take any illegal drugs. I’m just curious if my executive functioning would improve with a stimulant med does to younger adults. Im happy with my life and understand a lot of my life better in hindsight now. The guanfacine does seem to help slightly with some of the normal side effects. On BP meds for decades ...always 115/75 ish. BMI of 27. Cut out sugar and most carbs and not prediabetic anymore 5.3 ac1. This helps me to keep seeing if a low dose stimulant would even work on someone this old. Thanks again.

I’m 69 male retired but still active daily...from 5k to 18k daily footsteps working about the yard with 28 chickens, numerous cats inside and feral cats in our rescue building. My smart watch allows me to watch np pulse rate and try not to exceed 120 bpm. Resting pulse in low to mid 50s since guanfacine 1mg prescription. Feeling fine...just wanted to add this info for my previous post. Thanks

I can't give medical advice without being your doctor, but many individuals use stimulants effectively on the same pattern that you have described.

From your research and general understanding do you think it's easier on the body for a young adult ~30yr old to stay on dose for months or use for 5 days with 2 days off then back to 5 days? I've noticed when I take a break from it and start again my heart goes pretty fast and I'm buzzed but if I take it daily it feels much more smooth and gradual on my body. My primary doctor doesn't know I asked. However I heard it's probably safer to just let my body get use to it and adjust without this back and forth where it's never fully adjusted.
Any thoughts? Btw I'm not looking for medical advice since I know you can't do that just your option on this. Thanks for the video!

My thoughts are that listening to one's body is usually pretty wise. It sounds like taking it regularly is less of an assault on your body.

What kind of medication are you on? Whats the dose? How long have you been taking it for? Thank you 😊

I had two episodes today of heart racing. I’m thinking it’s due to my Vyvanse and probably other meds or vitamins but mainly the Vyvanse. Have an inhaler it could be conflicting with but really concerned about racing heart rate and difficulty sleeping. I was born with a congenital irregular heartbeat. Hopefully I’m not at risk. Covid has kept me out of the doctors office but he typically runs an EKG once or twice a year and also another test that is run on a treadmill. Echocardiogram I believe. I’m 56. So far those tests have been normal. I’ve been on Vyvanse about 10 years. I was diagnosed late in life and it’s been a huge struggle.

It sounds like your doctor has been evaluating for any dangerous cardiac effects, which is good. The stimulants can also have minor or benign effects on heart rate or blood pressure that should not pose a risk to health.

I initially put him on 1.5 X faster speed so reading your comment didn't at first make sense because to me he appeared to be a hyped up tweeker jk
I had to go to normal speed to get what you were saying. 😜
(bless his heart for what he does to help others)
