This is so lovely, despite all the tips and tricks, I think John's energy and attitude is the best thing about this video.
Definitely. I came here to quickly click through, see if there's some information in here I can quickly absorb and then move on, but just ten seconds in my haste was gone and I patiently watched and enjoyed.
I have to watch this from time to time for the sheer joy of it
I love how John Jelfs speaks with humility and sincerity.
He is such an engaging and clear speaker
I love the way John approaches ceramics with such joy and passion towards the craft. Sometimes we take for granted that simplicity may just be well enough for the world that we live in.
Great video!
Maybe one of the best videos you’ve produced! His teapots are wonderful!! He’s very practical, gives no nonsense advice and he’s obviously a terrific potter! Well done!
Such a treasure to find. Humble, wholesome
I've never heard anyone explain that clay unwinding phenomenon, but I have seen evidence of it my whole life. Excellent analysis of the problem and ideas about throwing gently on soft clay. Also very impressive to put on spouts at an angle and let them rotate into true. /applause
Lovely video. Thank you!
What an endearing crafter, and such useful tips!
Such insight to a potter's life brought to light through gentle and calming words.
How many people can you truly say are having fun while working?
Thank you Ceramic Review and John Jelfs for this gem.
I'm back 2 years later and still his words towards the end always puts a smile on my face.
@@Repulseeryes I loved it too!
Just beautiful! The simplicity speaks volumes to me!!
One of my favourite potters and a very lovely filming of him at work. Thank you for this gem

Love this potters work and attitude about his work. After seeing this video a couple years ago, I still find it enjoyable.
A delight listening to the gentle-man. Thank you 🙏
This is a terrific short video every future potter should see, and pro too, inspiring and well explained about function and clays peculiarities.
He looks like such a warm person, I wish him all the health in the world so that he can keep enjoying his craft for a long time.
I love his form for these lovely teapots! And the glaze is so lovely.
OMG it was so wonderful! Hands working on such delicate and fragile things give me hope in humanity.
What a wonderful film. It's a privilege to see such an extraordinary craftsman at work.
Thanks John ,it is beautiful clip with demonstration
Such a great video! I feel relaxed now. 😊I don’t make teapots as it is in my opinion very difficult to make well functioning and beautiful ones. After seeing the video I have sorted a Christmas present for myself !!😃
This is brilliant. I’m going to have all my students watch him. How lovely. And what a nice honest teapot. Love it
Thank you john for the great tips
What a great bloke and what lovely teapots...
Your tea pots are beautiful!
You are wonderful!!! Thank you so much for sharing!
I would very much enjoy drinking my tea out of one of your teapots, John. And listening to you talk about the process of making it.
Lovely down-to-earth chap... good pots, grand glazes.
Such a good speaker and a man who is very comfortable with his work and with himself. Lovely pots as well. I subscribed, partly because he didn't ask me tod and mainly because he seems such a nice person.
Just incredibly impressive and inspiring.
Admirable. Ese manejo de torno me dejó asombrada.
Nothing better then a happy potter....long may it last.
Same here...get the same feeling with "Refined by fire",Clayton Amemiyia🙋

The teapots are beautiful but the glaze is even better! I would do anything to have that glaze in my studio!
enjoyed and saw it again. it sound so simple but know how difficult it is to get there.
Magnifique, merci .
More of this guy please!
So cool, what a great guy
wonderful talent ❣️
Wow! Beautiful!
Great stuff John :)
totally inspiring thank you
Love this guy!
Thank you for sharing this, teapots are my fav to make so I found your video particularly enjoyable. I notice the spout is cut higher than the top of the pot! is that ok and/or does it affect the pouring?
I have always cut my spouts at an angle and get it right most of the time. :)
I love your work :(( and your wise words
Marvelous!
LOVE THIS!
Very interesting and some useful tips too.
Teapots are my fav to make, I never try to make them all the same, so each one is individual.
Do you trim the bottoms of your teapots?
Thanks for sharing your skill with us.
You got me curious about the torquing associated with clay now.
I will definitely pay more attention to this phenomenon.
I'm a woodworker and I see torqued wood way to often.
I have just found your channel, love it. Wiltshire accent?
Good video John jelfs 👍
LOVE IT!
Masterclass is right. His teapots are wonderful. He runs a lovely gallery in the Cotswolds with wife Jude, who also exhibits.
What a nice man!
Brilliant.
May you stay on your wheel for a long time.
Almost made me start brewing tea.
Or even make my own pot
Only they are not just for looking at are they.
Think I will stick with my Dragons
Its impressive that he has thought so much about making a teapot that is comfortable to use and pours well.
I like how your explan everything.
Exquisite.
Great video and lovely pots! I love the glazes as well. Do you make your own?
Gorgeous
He knows that soil also communicates. That's something that travels through dimensions.
His work pays off.
He is skillful 💝
Magic.
What background music did you use ?? Very pleasant :))
Interesting
Hi John, wondering if you have private classes?
What a nice man
It would be better if we have seen funace process, btw very good video including tips.
Does anyone know the names of that glazes at 0:38
A los productores de Máster Review, cuánto les agradecería por agregar subtítulos en español. Por favor, por favor.
How can I buy one of these tea pots?
I started my journey to where I am now as a Goldsmith studying to be a potter, sometimes I do miss sitting at the wheel yet The Potter's in the area won't even let me sit down at one of theirs makes me kind of sad
I have noticed that most people with great depth about life choose this art form
Wow😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
🥰
Shining whhat
